  • I don't talk about this much on the channel but you guys are literally watching me learn how to work on cars. From regular maintenance, to body kits, to engine swaps, to paint jobs, to classic porsche's I've learned everything I'm doing in front of you! Thanks for watching and be encouraged, if you want to build something you can. I hope this video (and all my videos for that matter) motivated you to go build your dream car even if its something absolutely insane like this RWB porsche inspired MGB with a Ford Mustang V8, MR2 Radiator and Homebuilt EVERYTHING else. Today we are working on the rear mounted radiator and fuel cell mounts to get this car one step closer to being ROAD READY!!!!!!!!

    Hey just a fun fact about sparks from grinders and cut-off wheels. They are actually capable of marring the window glass with little pock marks. If you want to keep that glasss looking nice then you should protect it with a blanket os spark paper

    • @loluracing
      @loluracing Před 2 lety +1

      Did that to my Datsun 720. It pains me to see those sparks flying without paint and window protection. It was mentioned in the last video. Guess he didn't see it or already filmed this one.

      Leaving grinder dust on paintwork will ruin it as well

    When I first learned how to weld I had a very smart man who explained something to me and I never forgot it and I think it may help you when building stuff if you were to take a flat piece of 2 inch 1/4 inch thick and laid it flat it would be strong from its thickness but you could still bend it now put that same piece of metal on edge and try to bend it I know it sounds stupid but when building things that's always help me to look at things a little different keep up the good work try not to burn yourself out and I swear if you don't get a plasma cutter soon I'm going to send you the cheap one I have driving me crazy 😂✌️

    Young man, As a person that works on racing cars and deals with rule books, some of the stuff you do make me cringe. That being said I enjoy how you jump into the action of building your car. My suggestions 1. Build a shield to keep water out of the distributor. You can get rained on or wash the car and make your car very unhappy. 2. If you have cooling issues (a)change to TWO Mazda RX7 radiators. They are smaller and more efficient than your current set up. Add to that both the inlet and the outlet are on the same side. Making pluming easier to do. (b) Mount them flat or one of them flat and then have the fans draw air from underneath the car. Cleaner lines and nothing sticking out of your car. 3.Firewall. Put a piece of oven glass in the wall to see what is going on behind you. 4. Safety. Mount more than one FIRE EXTINGUISHERs in the back of your car. Hard plumb one to the engine area. Plumb the other to the inside and back of the car. Then always mount one in the floor near you. Keep sweating and making your family Proud.

    This fuel cell are supposed to be supported from underneath so that the weight of the cell isn’t held by the mounting tabs alone. Love the builds.

  • @1one3_Racing
    @1one3_Racing Před 2 lety +1

    I foresee big issues in the rear end IF you drive this car a lot.
    If its just going to be a show car and occasional driver it should be fine.
    If you plan on doing a lot with it, please PLEASE make better mounts for the tank and radiator. Those tanks aren't meant to hang off those tabs. They are really thin aluminium welded to the outside. They are meant to be bolted DOWN ON TO SOMETHING. At the very least make straps that go all the way under and bolt up somehow to take the weight off them.
    As for the radiator, the vibrations will crack the aluminium over time. That's why all radiators are mounted on soft rubber bushes.
    Again, it will work for a time, but after the aluminium becomes a little more brittle from age and heat cycling it will crack.

    How heat resistant would a 2" thick piece of plexiglass be? I know you could drill holes for mounting purposes plus give you exceptional visibility out the back of the car not to mention seeing any issues from the driver seat would be a plus...and some cool LED lighting would be sick...love the progress man keep it up!

    • @dannykanchanarin4295
      @dannykanchanarin4295 Před 2 lety

      It’ll be more expensive than plexiglass but polycarbonate would be a stronger and more heat + abrasion resistant option and 1” would be more than enough

  • @RMerritts66

    You gotta have a support structure under that fuel cell, it will definitely crack being suspended by the tabs.

    I hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but I noticed the rear leaf springs and it reminded me of a problem that some of the earlier Shelby Cobras had, which is with more powerful engines they would unpredictably spin out at any speed due to the rear leaf springs twisting and then snapping back to their correct shape. I don't know how much power and torque your V8 produces, and I don't know if you've thoroughly braced up your rear axle, but I thought that it might be something worth looking into. 👍

    I'd run the coolant lines under the car with some oval tubing, if it were me.
    Firewall shouldn't be too difficuit with the aid of some CAD (cardboard assisted design), it's literally a wall, to protect from fire. If you have nothing running thru the cabin into the cooling area (like said rad pipes) then you won't have to mess with bulkhead fittings etc

    • @starfox_wr-45e93
      @starfox_wr-45e93 Před 2 lety

      I'd also advise not going all the way up to the window, just to the vent. If you follow the line of the back seat and parcel shelf... you get to keep some rear view vision, Some rear storage space (where the seats used to be), and it should look a lot cleaner overall.

    Love your creativity and passion in building this MG but I really cringe every time you grind or weld around your painted car or the bare glass. Can’t go back in time now and finish the fabrication before painting but, you really should get some welding blankets and protect your finished areas.

    Love to see all your videos but have to say this one didn't do it for me at all. I much prefer at the minimum voice over of what's going on. Some of the asmr is cool but can be over done for me. You are the star of the show in my opinion and didn't get enough of that especially the first 2/3 of the video
