    This is THE best beginner, step-by-step oil painting video I've ever seen. It was easy to follow, well explained and I believe that, yes, I can do it! Thank you. Please put out more beginner videos maybe with different subjects? Landscapes?

      Yes even as a beginner that has experience & understanding the language makes it even better. U feel totally confident when working it.. I use this as a practice either for myself or starting student out. Once they start Nervous scared and unsure, And as they go through it they feel more comfortable and by the end they're actually surprised at themselves of what they did. You usually hear someone say I didn't think I can do that.. Thanks Yupari. For posting it..👍

    Thank you for this. I've loved making art all my life, but have never been standardly "good" at it without tracing and copying. I decided to get my first set of oil paints today, and followed a few videos with horrible results.
    Then, I found this video. And I sat down and tried again, and really impressed myself. It turned out sloppy, don't get me wrong, but I understood values for the first time, and feel confident about trying again until I can get it perfect. This was the boost of confidence I needed to not abandon learning to truly paint, after feeling very discouraged. Thank you so much.

    Very well done & explainable for any beginner. The simplicity of "back to basics" backbone of good painting. Even as a veteran artist/teacher myself I constantly have to remind myself of these principles & have a wonderful way to make these understandable for any painter's skill level. Please do continue in your endeavor.

    I think you are a very fine teacher - sharing all the details of what materials you use and then you show in a very fine way how a classic alla prima oil painting can be made. I also admire. How you show your palet in process side by side with the painting. And it was interesting that you showed how it was possible when you paint wet in wet to make a kind of "glazing" with the little bit of thinner paint. A beautifull study to learn from. And absolutely the best introduction to oil painting I have seen.

    This is one of the best oil instructional videos I have seen. Thank you! I have been working in acrylics because of the fast drying time and ability to correct drawing and color errors quickly. These advantages to acrylics make creating soft edges and gaining luminosity harder; I am at the point that I cannot get the nuanced effects I want (at least not without multiple layers and repainting background colors to establish soft edges. This video and your clear instructions have inspired and encouraged me to open up my oils-which until now have just been sitting accusingly in a corner of my studio! Thanks again and please post more!

    I just tried this out. Without thinking about the fact that you didn't, I covered my canvas in liquid white before starting. I had to adjust my technique a bit and couldn't follow the tutorial as closely as I would have liked (I like to learn things the way the teacher does them before adding my own flair) but it turned out great! It is my favorite of the half dozen or so paintings I have done so far. Even if I am able to reach a much more advanced skill level in oil painting, this one will always have a place on my wall.

    As a kid who was big into art I was dying to learn to oil paint..we didn't have the internet to just look up a video, I needed to go to a class..I was nervous about going to a only adult class so I asked my mom to come, she said I couldn't draw a box, I told her it wasn't a drawing class but was an oil class, so she came..she got realy good and now 30 years on she still dose paints for others..she loves buildings and landscapes..but I've not painted since before my daughter was born, my thing has always been animals...I was only thinking about starting something..theres still so much paint here because of my mother ..who still cant draw a box but is and has been turning out masterpieces years..so anyone who would like to try..to start you need the primary colours along with titanium white and a cheap canvas..you can get cheap boards and stretched canvas in pound or euro stores, I'm sure youd get them in dollar stores in the states as well..in fact a saw a vlog of a family in dollar tree in the states and they passed wood frame mounted canvas..a dry clean rag , kitchen paper and paint thinner..turpentine or white sprits and your good to give it a go..dont be scared of it..have fun with it....even if you think you cant..its nothing like drawing ...I've been offered €2000 to do someone's dog and I've not picked up a brush in 20 years..and I have no clue how I'll construct it..here looking for refreshers

    A nice video - a few things aren’t clear about brush mixing and loading. I tried about two thirds of the video and ran through a dozen brushes - quite a lot for a beginner painting. When you are mixing paint - how much of the bristles touch the paint? Yours seem to be less than a third full but mine ended up full. Similarity - when I use the same stokes I don’t get full canvas coverage with the paint as it starts moving the paint around. Lastly - when you are blending - how do you avoid darker paint ending up in the wrong place after the first stroke - for example - on the stem on the second stroke it caries the paint back to the base of the stem.

    • @YupariArtist
      @YupariArtist  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you so much for this question! When you are painting wet on wet, it is easier to add thinner paint onto thicker paint. This is how I was able to add the stem on the apple, it was thinned out with solvent. About the paint handling: Firstly make sure you have artist quality oil paints, and explore way the paint handles without any solvent/medium. I’d then try using a little bit of solvent to explore the way it handles when it’s thinned out. Usually a drop at a time is recommended. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching !
