- Troubleshoot and test Variable Frequency Drive. Teardown, and attempted repair of a VFD. This is what replaced a phase converter in your home shop conversion. How it works and why you must never connect it backwards!
As I am currently watching my wife and both cats are intently viewing and taking notes. AND she knows what a VFD is.
I work on VSDs (Variable Speed as apposed to Variable Frequency) daily. Just had an electrician hook up one of my drives backwards last week. 480V Shorted the IGBTs and Cross-phased. We were standing in front of the cabinet and the door must have mushroomed out 6 inches. Oops, that's a $15000 mistake. Usually I double check everything but he assured me everything was good to chooch...
