    Great pointers there amigo! If I may add a few more:
    1. SUNSCREEN
    2. HAT WITH GOOD BRIM
    3. GOOD POLARIZED SUNGLASSES.
    4. SMALL FIRST AID KIT
    5. MOST IMPORTANTLY: This is me and why...PRAYER! When I approach the ocean, I am at it's mercy. It deserves respect for I am very vulnerable to it's dangers and adversities! Keep safe to live many more days and years to fish and come home safely!!!

    I have the same boots. I was using neoprene and frog toggs for a long time. The Simms are a major game changer for me and stability. Worth every penny

    Having your setup streamlined is really important in order to have a good time. I started wading the river this year and just bought a half decent pair of wading boots and went out with two rods and my big backpack. Standing thigh deep in the water trying to take a backpack off and fish something out of it is the most frustrating thing in the world.
    I got a good waist belt with pockets and a PFD with a few more. Everything is easily accessible now and attached to D-rings, carabiners or retractors somewhere. It's important to not have a ton of stuff dangling either, just from a safety perspective. Now the only thing I need to do is take your advice and slow down.

    I would definitely agree to move slow. I generally try and fan my cast a few down the shoreline or direction I’m going prior to moving. It’s a good way to make yourself slow down The fan cast back toward shallower water is generally where I pick up reds and flounder along the way while I’m fishing out to a drop off or deeper water depth for trout.

    Excellent ideas that I plan to use on my second wade trip. First was not very productive. Probably guilty of breaking most of these

    Awesome video man I love all your wading videos.
    Stingray shin guards or at least Kevlar socks is strongly suggested by me! West Galveston has a large stingray population as well as most of the gulf coast.

      If you've ever known of, or seen someone who has been hit by a ray, you will definitely invest $30 in a set of Ray-Guards and wear them !

    Excellent info on saltwater wade fishing. A couple of questions if I may. With your pack how do you keep your lures dry and protected from the saltwater? I have a shoulder bag and a similar box but when I’m wading deep water and especially if a wave tolls over the bag and tackle inside get wet. Also what are some good bang for the buck brands of wading boots? I’m wearing the zip up beach wading boots from Academy. So far so good but your tennis shoes comment got my attention. Are these I’m using a good choice? Thanks so much and I hope you get this comment since this is an older video.

      Good place to start is the south shore line of west bay. Tons of spots to walk in and wade. I wish I could be more helpful but it really depends on the conditions. Here is a few places to try. Amigo ln, sea isle, terramar, Dana cove. All produce fish on the right conditions.

    You missed a big one Mike and I'm surprised. PFD!!

    • @TexasFishingForce
      @TexasFishingForce  Před 4 lety

      I didn’t add that because it depends on where your wading. I don’t wear a PFD wading if I’m bay side in shallow water. That’s very dependent on location for me.

      @@TexasFishingForce Completely understood and you as well as I have a decent understanding of the water. Beginners have no clue when it comes to drop offs and holes as well as soft mud. I just always choose to err on the side of safety.

    • @TexasFishingForce

      It’s tough, I personally wouldn’t do it. Too much frustration

    • @nozrep
      @nozrep Před 2 lety

      lol correct for sure, but also, if did want to and were determined to, nowadays, there are companies that make “mudwalker” shoe attachments, that spread out the weight and sorta prevent your feet from sinking down into the mud. Sorta kinda like, built on the same idea and principle as snowshoes. But for mud.
