TUI go-around @ 4hr 17! I was there jumpseat rear galley left window! They’re always exciting. And, as you saw, pilot nailed it second time round! All three wheels! Fantastic job!

@@basiltaylor8910technically yes captain pedantic. But with three specific points of contact and each “pair” of wheels acting in concert performing the job of one single wheel I reckon the aerospace industry fact checkers (and my nursery teachers) will ultimately forgive my blasphemy.

@@MatthewBluefox No, seen one A320 , B737 seen the all of them gets a bit boring , one Sleazyjet and Air Shamus (Ryan Air )is much like another. The B747 is a welcome distraction ,getting less common now BA and Virgin have retired theirs. A380 is a monster for it filled the entire width of Brumm,s single runway, a stark contrast to the tiddly ATR 72,s flitting over said runway like a moth caught in a fart.

The fire is quite intense - watching from our office in Birmingham city centre. Still going strong nearly 2 hours after it started.
It looks like arrivals are now (at 16:30 local time) from the south (R33) whilst departures are to the south (R15) - very interesting.

Sometimes a pilot might request a certain runway which might be granted if it doesn’t delay other traffic. If you mean the runway number. That is based on the magnetic heading of that runway.
