Have you seen Dick Johnson Is Dead? Let me know what you thought of this remarkable documentary.
I’ve seen it and it’s amazing
Soooo overlooked
I liked it, but definitely not as much as you did
I'm not crying, you're crying
Yes, I have seen this documentary and thought it was very thought-provoking and depressing at the same time - probably because I am closer to Dick Johnson's situation than I'd like to be. I'm glad you shared this film with us. I hope more people watch it.
I can only imagine how my relationship to this film is going to change with time. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
literally just saw it and it's my favorite documentary of all time, my favorite 2020 film, and the first film ever to make me cry.
Such high praise! Happy to find another DICK JOHNSON acolyte :) While it certainly made me cry, I've been crying during movies most of my life (ha).
It’s nice to see people recommending underseen films, going on my watchlist.
Fantastic video! Thank you. And yes, I found it as deep and thoughtful as you did. It made me cry three or four times. This film is timeless and important.
Thanks for watching/commenting as always! I'm so glad you found the power in this film.
Wow. I might have to do a double feature with The Act Of Killing and Dick Johnson is Dead. Great video as always!
THE ACT OF KILLING is honestly one of the most important films ever made. Deeply, deeply harrowing stuff. Thanks for watching!
Well I watched the film over an hour ago and I still can’t stop crying. Thanks for this review.
Thank you for watching. I’m so glad people are discovering this film.
funny how I always see your reviews and stars on letterboxd and then see your reviews in here, as if I have some kind of preview of what is going to be here. I loved this video, and probably gonna watch the documentary soon. Thank you for your work.
Thank you so much, Rubens! Happy to hear you’re gonna check the doc out. And blessed be Letterboxd.
Saw your LETTERBOXD review and found your video here! 🤣 I loved this documentary!! I was already in tears in the beginning when she tells him they’re selling his car. Gosh Dick Johnson is so lovable!!
Yeah, I lost track of the times I cried during this thing. I'm so glad you loved it. Thanks for finding this video and commenting :)
your account is HEAVILY underrated! i love the videos!!!
Thank you so much, Anna :)
Even though is seem a little manipulative to be called documentary, there's no doubt this is one of my best 10 of the year!
Kirsten Johnson is able to make films unlike any other director I've seen. They have a sense of wisdom, and emotion that really complements the films as a whole.
Well said. I cannot wait to see what she does next as a director.
that one dislike is josh the skater dude
I'll have to add it to the list. Looks like it'll be impacting. The other movie I also need to see is Spree.
I've been keen to check out SPREE myself. 'Tis the season!
Love this movie. Please see it.
Saw it. Loved it. Highly recommend it as well as Camera person, which spell check insists isn't a word. Sigh. Great summary video.
Have you seen dear zachary? These movies are very similar so I'd think you'd love it. They both make you really care and love someone you haven't met.
Oh, yes. DEAR ZACHARY destroyed me...
I just imagined how funny it would be to meet someone named Dick Johnson and maybe I’ve stumbled on the best film of 2020…. Hmm..
This is a great Video!
Thank you very much!
I found this movie fascinating. This movie is kind of like a fantasy. Trying to cheat death and what is on the other side of the door. I agree with all the things you said. I found this movie as a comedy with dark moments, not a dark comedy. I'm not the director, this is what I think. This movie in one person's mind is only dark and not funny. "How can you do this!?" That is the whole point, the reason that they are doing this is to be together like you said. I complement glorious thoughts on the movie. My own thoughts are I want to see Cameraperson really bad now and I want to see Johnson's next movie right when it comes out.
thank you.
Thanks for watching :)
♥️
very beautiful
