Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Surratt was an American boarding house owner who was convicted of taking part in the conspiracy to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln. Sentenced to death, she was hanged, becoming the first woman executed by the United States. Diane Meyer, Pat Schmeelk and Jim Doyle partake in researching the life of Ms. Surratt and the events that took place during her trial in 1865. Presented during a Civil War Day event sponsored by the Town of Penfield Local History Room and Recreation Department.

Yeah well it does seem like she sips her fair share of the "grape" on a daily basis. But I believe it's just that she's not a young person. However, that doesn't negate her research skills on this subject matter.
