    Hey I have a question! I'm currently having some white peacocks hatch in our incubator since our peahens don't like to be consistent sitting on them. We have one that has made a hole about the diameter of dime, and has been pipping for about 12 hours with no progress. Is there ever a need to assist in the case of helping them hatch? Or should I take the loss on a weak peachick? I also may be worried I raised the humidity a little too late since it was at 60-65% and think that the membrane around out peachick may have dried up. If that's the case, should I mist some water on the small opening? Thanks!

    • @theplayfarmer9324
      @theplayfarmer9324  Před 2 lety +4

      Sorry for the late reply! After the first pip it can take them about 24 hours to start unzipping/fully break out of the egg. They usually rest for quite a while after pipping while they absorb the yolk. If it takes longer than 24 hours though I would try to help out if possible. It is always a risk but there are lots of videos on how to do it. I hope it works out for you!!!!

    why is it important to stabilize the air sac before incubating?

    • @theplayfarmer9324
      @theplayfarmer9324  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you for checking out our channel! The reason it is important to stabilize the air sac before incubation is that once you place the eggs in the incubator you have to roll them three to 5 times a day. If you hadn't put them in there with a stabilized air sac, the air sac would likely detach and move around as the eggs roll. If the air sac isn't in the correct position at time of hatch, the chick will die. The first air the chick breathes is within the air sac so it is crucial that it be where the head of the chick ends up. Hope that clarifies! Thanks again for watching!
