    Awesome video. I so appreciate the start soft and only ask bigger when needed. I’ve seen trainers go big out of the gate to “teach the horse respect and that you are the boss” and I don’t like that at all. Also, love that you are an expert and have a vest and helmet on. I’m riding a young horse so wear a vest and helmet and have been at barns where people don’t have helmets and they argue their experience and that tells me they have forgotten it’s an animal-they can trip, spook, anything just silly to not wear a helmet.

    I’m loving your videos. Watching from the Oregon, USA.
    You remind me of my first instructor. She told me horses can feel a fly anywhere on their body…be like the fly with your queues.
    I hope that person with the wonderfully responsive horse you started didn’t deaden her horses response. She had a liberty horse already.
    Lilly did an amazing job and it’s been lovely seeing your pride in her too.

      Yes it can be difficult on your own and without a confined space. You do it though. You need to take the time to make sure everything is spot on and relaxed for the horse.

    Hi Josie!!
    How in the heck is Lilly like a real full sized horse already!!
    Well done both of you!
    How are Rebel and my guy Spider?

    • @BasicHorseTraining
      @BasicHorseTraining  Před 3 měsíci +1

      IKR!!! I think that too. She is nearly four. Rebel is back at work following him scaring me half to death. Poor Spider didn't pass his vet exam after his injury so he is now retired 😭. He is Grayson's paddock mate and teaching him some good manners 😊. I hope all is well with you

      @@BasicHorseTraining I can’t believe how much you’ve been through in the last couple of years with all your horses and especially Wayne, recently.
      Glad Rebel is doing well and I’m sure Spider is enjoying a leisure life. 😁

    I love your method! Its very similar (if not the same) as to how I do things. Energy work is everything. What saddle are you using? I like how its a lighter, smaller western type saddle

  • @Krinsta1

    That was great. The horses you start are beautiful by the looks of them. 😊 There's some real wack jobs out there training horses. You can see the horses are being traumatised into doing what these people want them to. It's so cringe. Joseph Newcome is very gentle with his horses.
