I've had my for 2 years now. Bought 2 so far. First added some pintech plastic cymbals then upgraded to the sabian quiet tone cymbals. It's perfect. Havent practiced on a drum kit in almost a year and my skills are still sharp. It truly is a saving grace for all drummers
Watching this, I thought - why not practice on the kit? That's the thing you're practicing for. Then as I thought about it, the value of a practice kit like this is to take away all the sonic aspect - the snare crunch, the cymbals crash, the toms booming decay and focus purely on timing and technique. On the kit all that timing & technique is lost in the noise of boom, crash, ka-chunk etc. With this kit, you every tap sharp and clear, you hear if timing is a fraction out, it almost sounds like a metronome to listen to!
What really baked my noodle was the idea that you could attach a piezo under each pad and pipe them to a module & headphones for an ultra compact e-Kit.

Hey I’m looking into buying this. Do you notice any problems with the slave pedal on your double bass pedal sliding anywhere? Or the practice pad moving at all after a lot of double bass work? And last would you recommend a carpet to use under it or is it unnecessary? I have a tile floor and when I practice with my pedals they just slide around unless I get a carpet out to work with the Velcro strips. My one drum carpet is under my acoustic kit though and I won’t be able to take it back and forth…

Should I just get a cheap electric kit? Can practice quietly when off, can mix sounds when on. Thoughts?
No you loose your feel in for real drums
It sounds good just to practice
Recently I got a cheap electric kit and it was a horrible experience, the sound was a little glitchy and it felt very off(snare was quiet for some reason). After I decided to try an actual acoustic kit and haven’t regretted it. If sound is an issue there are mute kits and other ways to dampen the sound. I don’t recommend going super cheap if possible.
Hugo Palomares It depends on what you mean by cheap. You can get a relatively inexpensive e-kit that has loads of options compared to zero options to the practice pads. That being said, what is the primary goal of whatever you get? Do you have a drum kit already? If not, I’d say go with the e-kit. If you have a decent kit already, I’d suggest the practice pad kit. I like the way it feels, the bounce, the return, is much juicier compared to the inexpensive e-kits.
Cheap electric kits are worthless for practice regardless of what people say- they don't sound good and are often not very durable.

Im in a situation where i can't disturb the neighbors so this will be perfect for me, do you need a specific foot pedal or will any pedal work, also would you recommend high hat mutes, thanks for the great video, Scott. 👍.
It can work on any pedal

Feel free to expand on how you practice your hi-hat, and left foot independence, on this DW kit. Since the hats essentially are (to me) the most vital and expressive component.
you could utilize the top left pad as the hihat
dude just get a hi hat and put it next to this quit being a baby
its meant to practice rudiments, diddles etc, just with the extra element of movement around the kit. thats why it sounds like a metronome to listen to. removes all the sonic clutter of hat splashes, crashes, tom decay etc.
i just dont get it like i need one of these so badly but why dont any of them come with a hihat, like ig i could use the left tom for a hi hat but its not in the right spot like i dont need toms at all just bass drum snare and hat, and the hat doesnt even need a pedal just like the hat from an electronic kit and it would be perfect
