I have watched Gaogaigar and it was awesome. All you need to know is the cruel indifference of the universe vs the indomitable inhuman spirit given form in a giant robot with a lion for a chest, stealth bomber for wings, drills for knees and a bullet train for arms.
GaoGaiGar is so absolutely insanely great and fun and enjoyable that I would recommend it to everyone without a second thought as some Top Tier Lovingly Crafted Robot Fun..... were it not for the interesting creative decision to make the flashing so bad that your eyes are guaranteed to hurt after a session no matter how sensitive of photo you are
GaoGaiGar is an absolute joy of a series, starts off monster of the week but relatively quickly switches into a show with a proper storyline. the robots are amazing, the characters are ridiculous, the transformations are GORGEOUS, the action is fantastic, the strobing lights are very likely the inspiration for the Japanese Seizure Robots bit from The Simpsons, it's got it all!
In a hilarious bit of coincidence, I’ve been watching GaoGaiGar and I literally watched the first appearance of Mic Sounders this morning and wanted to see a review for his original toy. Excellent timing.
Brace gets pretty cool engineering wise, they're like if transformers g1 engineering got pushed past what the limit was supposed to be. Gao Gai Gar is the only one where people actually seemed to like the show, and it doesn't have the craziest engineering but the designs are probably the most memorable and striking. Cool rabbit hole to go down.
the whole braves dx line has some real insano stuff all around that's got some pretty neat engineering overall i feel, just real cool funny chunky robos overall shoutouts to super build tiger, what a guy
I heard that the bubbles in the secret TFNatoon hot tub this year were FIERCE! Until SOMEONE got out and they stopped, revealing there had never been any bubbles from the hot tub itself...
the GaoGaiGar toyline is banger after banger, and mic sounders is extremely emblematic of its high points- good, chunky takara robot fun with its own take on a tried-and-true concept.
Mic Sounders may be a comic relief in his earlier appearances but when he does go rocker mode he rocks. Also this is the first time seeing his original toy. I hope to see some more Brave stuff in this channel.
GaoGaiGar is, IMHO, the best kind of cheese. It's loud and over the top; it knows it, and shamelessly commits to its bit. If you like hot-blooded super robots, it might be your jam.
Gaogaigar is an absolute joy to watch. Its toys look extremely fun (I don't own any at the moment), but I'm still waiting for the right time just to pick all the ones I want up.
That panning shot over that MotU collection gives me such warm feelings of nostalgia. I decided not to have a second collection next to my Transformers but I love looking at yours.
I have a boxset signed by Kohei Tanaka, the composer of GaoGaiGar. Legit top 5 TV animation of all time. I'd also mention that's the logo for Gutsy Galaxy Guard.
Gaogaigar is Bonkers, its definitely doing the monster of the week thing but it also goes hard. and then it gets even more wild with the Gaogaigar Final miniseries at the end. they seem to have just known how absurd it all is but kept going anyway.
I knew him from the show, loved him as a character, but I guess I never really considered how his toy actually worked. Pretty awesome to see how gimmick full it is!
I love mic, absolutely one of my favorite music/sound based robots. Really helps that he’s basically the crazy dnd bard that can atomize his enemies. Unfortunately I never got the dx, so I settled for the minipla instead
GaoGaiGar rules, you should check it out! The Brave series in general is a lot of fun, very silly but very cool robot designs and ideas in each incarnation.
It scans to me as a rock n roll color scheme in Japan for some inexplicable reason, but if it were released in the west, we’d probably see the red and powder blue replaced with magenta and either teal or lime green. And _damn_ it would have feckin’ ruled. Looking forward to the weirder stuff, that’s the stuff I thrive on
Outstanding. Keytar Targetmaster buddies when? Wonder why they didn’t have the two LP DJ deck set up in the buresuto area for him to scratch at, though…
Oy Gavin, if you're into transforming robots like GaoGaiGar, you might enjoy the Brave Series and its sister franchise, the Eldran Series. These shows, featuring a variety of unique transforming robots, were created by Takara and produced by Sunrise to capitalize on the popularity of Transformers in the States. They're currently experiencing a resurgence with remakes of original toys in higher quality and detail.
GaoGaiGar is a fantastic show and toyline. For a TF Animated fan like you, you might wanna check out GaoGaiGar's own ChoRyuJin, the duo that inspired Animated Safeguard!
GGG is the one Brave/Yuusha series I've seen--so far, so I know more than you! I also haven't seen it since I was a teen half a lifetime ago, so I should rewatch it sometime, or maybe just play Super Robot Wars 30 so I can finally see the GGG x Betterman crossover that may never get animated. And, Mic is pretty fun in the show, tho I'd really like some edition of the Genesic GaoGaiGar, someday.
Gagaga Gagaga Gao Gai Gar! That looks to be a bit of a banger, despite the lack of drums. Should really look into the Brave Series toys with more attention, considering how they're practically off-shoots of the Japanese G1 toys.
The only downside GaoGaiGar has is the flashing ligths. If ye suffer from epilepsy or migraines, it is wise to not watch it for your own safety. Otherwise, the story is interesting, the characters are cool and fun, and the theme song will never leave your head.
Nobody tell Gav that Mic only appears in the last quarter of the show, does nothing of confidence and more often than not gets himself and everyone else into trouble.

The dude is not kidding. It's some real Battling Seizure Robots shit.

Oh boy, going down the vintage Brave toy hole is genuinely a fun time. The toys are very very playable
In a hilarious bit of coincidence, I’ve been watching GaoGaiGar and I literally watched the first appearance of Mic Sounders this morning and wanted to see a review for his original toy. Excellent timing.
GaoGai-FUCKING-Gar?! On MY TRDQ?! This is a blessed day
Yes!
This should always be fun!
Rock on!

"Yo, this is rad as heck" is what I imagine this little dude saying before shredding on the keytar.
It was so great to meet you. Looking forward to seeing more and more wonderful videos about things we all love and obscure lines like this
This might be the most considerate noisemaking toy ever manufactured
the whole braves dx line has some real insano stuff all around that's got some pretty neat engineering overall i feel, just real cool funny chunky robos overall
shoutouts to super build tiger, what a guy
I heard that the bubbles in the secret TFNatoon hot tub this year were FIERCE! Until SOMEONE got out and they stopped, revealing there had never been any bubbles from the hot tub itself...
That guitar/keytar combo rifle might be the best weapon I’ve ever seen for a giant robot. I guess I really need to watch GaoGaiGar
the GaoGaiGar toyline is banger after banger, and mic sounders is extremely emblematic of its high points- good, chunky takara robot fun with its own take on a tried-and-true concept.
Sounds like “Silvester Anfang”, the track the bloke from Tangerine Dream gave to Mayhem for their Deathcrush ep.
2:33
This is CINEMA.
I got a vintage King J-Der for like 20 bones ahout a year ago, and I can confirm, the whole DX GGG line is this fun
My god, a pristine Brave toy, it looks gorgeous!
Two words for you, Gavin, to get you digging GaoGaiGar: SYMMETRICAL DOCKING.
Mic Sounders may be a comic relief in his earlier appearances but when he does go rocker mode he rocks. Also this is the first time seeing his original toy. I hope to see some more Brave stuff in this channel.

Toby's has such an aura I am in awe of him.
Should really finish watching GaoGaiGar it was a lot of fun.
adorable wee lad that produces Aphex twin music
love it
good contrast to how angry all the transformers looked at the time
Don't think I didn't notice that Star Trek III reference.
That's a sound byte that lives rent free in my head. "My God, Repugnus, what have I done?"
GaoGaiGar is a great show, just everything pumped up to 11
That is one of the coolest toys I've ever seen. Give it a more decepticon flavored color scheme and I'd be searching ebay for one of my own.
That panning shot over that MotU collection gives me such warm feelings of nostalgia. I decided not to have a second collection next to my Transformers but I love looking at yours.

Would you? You should!
Nice score, Gav. Always wanted him and missed the warehouse find last year.
Now Gavin starts his little rock band using the beats from G13. No more sleeping for Gavin, No! HE MUST ROCK OUT!
GREAT LITTLE REVIEW OF A COOL SET!
Gaogaigar is Bonkers, its definitely doing the monster of the week thing but it also goes hard.
and then it gets even more wild with the Gaogaigar Final miniseries at the end. they seem to have just known how absurd it all is but kept going anyway.
Mic Sounders is my spirit animal
I knew him from the show, loved him as a character, but I guess I never really considered how his toy actually worked. Pretty awesome to see how gimmick full it is!
and now I need this.
Gaogaigar is a fun series
I love mic, absolutely one of my favorite music/sound based robots. Really helps that he’s basically the crazy dnd bard that can atomize his enemies. Unfortunately I never got the dx, so I settled for the minipla instead
GaoGaiGar rules, you should check it out! The Brave series in general is a lot of fun, very silly but very cool robot designs and ideas in each incarnation.
Has Toby ever tried to grab Repugnus when you flick him off the table?
No he only goes after expensive Micromasters
It scans to me as a rock n roll color scheme in Japan for some inexplicable reason, but if it were released in the west, we’d probably see the red and powder blue replaced with magenta and either teal or lime green. And _damn_ it would have feckin’ ruled.

Needed a Vangelus, fist pumping stye drum solo.
I've seen all of GaoGaiGar 3 times, and I highly recommend it, especially if you're already a Transformers fan
Now **I** want this toy!
hes so awesome
"COMMON ROCK N ROLL!"
Oh Gavin! My wallet already couldn’t handle TFN, don’t make me want a singing robot! (Reminds of TFA Soundwave before the transformation)
It's a bit like an alternate universe Blaster, one where he isn't an absolute ****.
The dx gaogaigar is one of the greatest toys ever. Next to repugnus of course
Keytars will come back huge one day, I swear it!
yes!

DISC V! SET ON!
What an oddity
GGG is the one Brave/Yuusha series I've seen--so far, so I know more than you!
I also haven't seen it since I was a teen half a lifetime ago, so I should rewatch it sometime, or maybe just play Super Robot Wars 30 so I can finally see the GGG x Betterman crossover that may never get animated.

I had a candy toy version of this.
What an interesting little fella! Thank you for sharing with us, Gav!
Hello Gavin
Gagaga Gagaga Gao Gai Gar!
That looks to be a bit of a banger, despite the lack of drums. Should really look into the Brave Series toys with more attention, considering how they're practically off-shoots of the Japanese G1 toys.
Truly, truly, truly outrageous. A gem of a toy!
OH YEAH ROCK N ROLL
The GOAT
The only downside GaoGaiGar has is the flashing ligths. If ye suffer from epilepsy or migraines, it is wise to not watch it for your own safety. Otherwise, the story is interesting, the characters are cool and fun, and the theme song will never leave your head.
YAAAAAS!
Peak mentioned
Nobody tell Gav that Mic only appears in the last quarter of the show, does nothing of confidence and more often than not gets himself and everyone else into trouble.
Hope you're having a good day
Oh no Gavin, I've been fighting a grueling battle against giving in to the MOTU temptation, if you review more of them I may lose
I recently got Choryujin from Gaogaigar recently and that is an awesome toy. So simple yet so good.
I do dog that visor/mohawk combo head!
Honestly this is so peak
ive seen gaogaiogar!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Impossible
Imagine if Transformers was this fun instead of being obsessed with G1.
Isn't this the guy who played Tower Bridge like a guitar??
I’m going to assume this toy is an acquired taste, because I just don’t see the appeal. I am very glad you are happy with it, though!
GapGaiGar toys look great. But like Gundam, I'm afraid of getting into another money-sink toyline.
Is Repugnus taking requests? 😆
...sorry, you mentioned 1997 and I just got very, very depressed thinking how very, very old I am. What was all this about a robot, now...?
Transformers is great, but this... this is maximum toy
