5:25 New Lore Excerpt
7:35 What Could it Tease?
10:13 Outro - Hry
Knowing the Imperium, this "Alpha Asset" is probably a spoon rumored to have been used by the Emperor once, or a Primarch's old back scratcher.
Dorn's favorite pair of fuzzy slippers.
Ferrus' nail polish.
The God-Emperor's kitchen set, thrice blessed.
Sanguinius' soup spoon
I bet it is a big AI that will get corrupted by Vashtorr but maybe men of iron or a Inquisitor with effective henchmen?
More non-tau aliens will always be welcomed in my tau army
Yeah, with the Kroot getting a range refresh and hopefuly the Vespids getting new models through this kill team kit. I'm hoping this means GW is putting more of a focus on the different species within the T'au empire and we may see some totally new alien models for the T'au faction sometime in the future
I feel like that's maybe the biggest strength of the tau Is the fact that they're a good place to put all the miscellaneous xenos That aren't big enough to get their own independent faction
When I played Tau all I built were crisis suits and core Tau units, ngl, Kroot and Vespids are stinky. I think using them as a dumping ground for xenos never worked out that well, they need a cool non-Tau showpiece model or two but I mean everyone said they should get a squat/demi-urge model for a long time too and Leagues of Votann speak for themselves, would they have been much more interesting in Tau? There is no synergy with Kroot and Tau, everyone just kinda keeps them around because they like the idea of them.
@@klaykid117 see I think it be cool if we make them simler to their in lore of being like the CIS or the Covanet, a massive diversity of Xeno and tech with one being the main force.
Be epic and give so fun visuals for the army wheve it’s mixed or picking once group to build around
Same brother
I’m up for the new vespids, but for the Greater Good please toss in a new auxiliary species for flavor
Either that, or rules + upgrade kits for Gue'vesa
All the launch boxes have been 2 brand new kits, then the rest of that season are one new kit and one upgrade sprue. So there is a good chance both will be brand new.
Guess it's time to get new 28mm bases for the Scions because I see it coming.
Valrak was teasing this for such a long time now. But to be fair to his doubters: it's such an obvious move to itnroduce new Vespids in a Kill Team box. It's like the perfect position for them as a product.
It is getting quite annoying that a lot of revamped units are coming out in much more expensive killteams, space marine scouts, striking scorpions, traitor guard, to name a few.
@@blizzardgaming7070 From the Kill Team perspective it's also kind of annoying that some teams which are obviously just 40k units rather than proper Kill Teams like in the past are being pushed through Kill Team. Mandrakes and Striking Scorpions being the biggest examples.
@@blizzardgaming7070 the hobby is prohibitively expensive as it is. water is also wet. just another friday.
@@TheMarcosvolta I mean it's irritating that a 40k kit and and upgrade sprue are being packaged together and sold for £60 rather than just buying the kit and sprue for £45.
Yeah I’ve been saying this on my channel since last year, and I don’t have sources like Valrak - like you say, doesn’t take a genius to work out what’s ideal for Kill Team
Huh. That would be interesting. Also new Vespids hell yeah!
Nah they will put the old ones in there haha.
@@thetubbyunicorn4085noooooo
New Vespid minis would be great to see…and I don’t even play T’au.
Scions with jump packs would be a nice way for folks that own Elysian Drop-Troopers minis to bring some of their collection back to the tabletop.
Scions are a poor alternative to Elysians though. No one asked for Scions.
They were originally meant to be replacements for Kasrkin…
Forget the Elysians, bring out the Harakoni Chadhawks. Hopefully I can stick the grav-chutes on Kasrkin minis and fulfill a childhood dream over a decade in the making. :D
@@platexproductions I've seen some suggest they were meant to be foot troops for knight households, hence the more knightly look of their armour.
@@ricos.3884 Please no, GW has done enough butchering the lore non stop and we don't need Harakoni getting the same treatment to make them "Modern"
@@platexproductionsThey’re not a Kasrkin replacement, they were a Storm Trooper replacement with a trademarkable name. Kasrkin are the Cadian-specific variant of Storm Troopers, as Devil Squads are for Catachan or Grenadiers are for Krieg.
Honestly, I believe the bigger drop was the mention of a Tempestus Magnificat. I've been saying that GW needed to close the holes in the regiment roster. Considering that Cadia is (still) the standard, that means all the different regiments would have: Senior Officer, Command Squad, base troop choice, and an elite troop choice at minimum. Scions already have the command squad and base troop choice, so the mention of a Magnificat could mean they could have the rest coming along in a battle force box like the Kroot.
I just thought Magnifcabr was her name.
Her having Female Pronouns is interesting as I thought they all men given.
A) Scion means sons.
B) all the suitable females would be scooped up by the Soritas
C) all the models are dudes.
@@ChrisKCook Not really considering:
A) Scions is just the marketing rebrand for IG stormtroopers.
B) There's lots of novelization and some lore with female stormtroopers.
C) GW is still under assault by the DEI cult, so nothing is off the table.
@@ChrisKCook Scions have always competed with sororitas and the commissariat for female recruits. I seem to recall they had the least women, but I'm not sure if that's accurate
@@ChrisKCook Scion merely means "heir" not specifically "son". It's rather commonly employed as a gender-neutral term.
@@sgtjericho7884 scions should be predominantly men because men make for the best spec ops grade warriors
If new Tempestus, I will probably buy
Perhaps the battleline for Imperial Agents? But also playable like they still are within the guardsmen.
A man can hope
@@guillercuasticoscions in agents makes so much sense: they show up with inquisitors more than regular guardsmen tbh
That would be the Voidsmen At Arms and Arbites Vigilant Squads...
@@Micheal_Porter this is my plan. though i will be proxying guard models.
So if we hadn’t just had the Tau Codex my guess would be scions get an upgrade sprue and a new Auxilia tau kit.
Scions are a slightly odd choice, their kit isn’t “that” old and the Catachan are right there.
The Kessandras system is being used for the current grand narrative. I’m playing at the Tacoma Narrative and we just got a primer that Kessandras is where we’ll be fighting.
Ah that's interesting to know!
@@auspextactics more specifically, we'll be fighting over the Imperial planet Volkus in that system.
@@nemisis714that’s where this “asset” is and where the speakers in the story are looking to defend.
Would love vespid or even new tau auxiliaries
seeing how insane the tiger shark rules are, I hope it's just entire kill teams trying to take them down
Dude the tiger shark rules are INSANE (that unit is completely useless on the tabletop)
@@isaiahkoufos3573What are you smoking that a Tiger Shark is useless? It annihilates anything it shoots at.
I may not be a Tau player but plastic Vespid are very exciting
First, I want a Vespid kill team. Then, a Nicassar one! 😍
Nicassar don’t really fight on the ground, though…
New scion sculpts perhaps? Or maybe the normal sculpts with some upgrade options.
Surely the second given that kasrkin are so recent and they’re basically the same role
I think this is a rebrand for scions and their box.
I think we'll receive new sculpts for the flying boys in blue, I've heard some rumors that there's gonna be some female heads as well
@@user-xm5fs9yp7s woke coming serously in 40k ?!
When they start a new season it's been new kits on both sides of the first box this whole edition of Kill Team.
In the Shadowsun book there are a few things setting up the Charpactin species for military use against the death guard, they don't mention vespids but I'd love to see either because the Auxillaries are my favourite part of the tau so any is good to me!
I've been holding on hopes for new vespids since killteam octarius dropped
Please dear lord scions in boxes of 10🙏🙏🙏
@@AJ-oj1xy let's hope that The Emperor will hear your prayers, soldier
PLEASE surely new vespids! I need to complete my Tau covenant.
personally I believe the mordian iron guard or Elysian drop troops are gonna get some new releases
Elysians are possible, Drop Regiments normally have some units of Scions embedded within them. But it would be odd for the community post to focus so heavily on this elite Scion team and they bait and switch with Elysians
Man, I just bought a Scion Start Collecting box.
Might have to resell it now, if they decide to refresh the Scions. They hold up pretty well, but they do have the old body proportions
You may wanna keep it for kitbashing purposes if nothing else. I kept some of the older Astra Militarum kits cause they can be easily added to other more modern models with a little bit of handywork.
Current scion models are slightly bigger than the updated cadian models. Don't throw it away.
No it's a really good box. Command squad, troops, special Commissar and their unique tank. It's a reminder of what a good box should be, one you can buy several of. No point in reselling the command squad, Commissar and Taurox anyway.
Tempestus Scions could get another unit and a real single model character. They could give them the typical Kill Team extra sprue for new options plus a plastic character in an own sprue! Then they can implement these in the new codex
How is the Tau still "small" when their 5th expansion sphere is almost half a galaxy away from their core.
because they warped there
@@BloodyArchangelus Would say the same thing about plot armor for other factions?
Haters still stuck with lore from 24 years ago
@@kj-wq2ro because its the answer for Tau lack of warp drive. They jump wormhole to wormhole.
@@yulusleonard985There's one wormhole, that being the Startide Nexus. T'au have had FTL since the 2nd Sphere of Expansion, just not Warp-based FTL. They finally got "proper" mass-produced Warp drives sometime between the Fifth and the upcoming Sixth Sphere.
Really happy for the Tau players. Anytime one of those old models gets a refresh it’s a good day.
Wait, if _these_ are the new T'au, then what were those "Greater Good" pin-up minis I just ordered from Wargame Exclusive?
Vespids will be welcome by all, even non-collectors. They are just cool. Tau having proper new alien auxiliaries this edition will be a big win. If those Scions are elites for Agents of the Imperium, that makes a lot of sense too. This could be an excellent box, satisfies several needs.
Ahh yes, the Guard vs Tau Kill Team box Valrak said was coming. I can hear his "Well, well, well..." and his yells of "Vindication-rak!" All ready.
Surely the sturdy fighters of catachans get a fair go for a remodel of figures
I really hate how the 5th sphere expansion isn't just a curb stomp. It's a group of fringe frontier worlds that the Tau should easily overcome. Even with Sisters of Battle and a handful of Deathwatch, the Tau should be cleaning up shop at this point. I understand that the Tau can't just always be winning, but they severely outmatch the Imperial defenders in this instance with Genestealer Cults rampaging in the background.
The T’au being capable of something is illegal apparently. The fanbase as a whole shits on us so much that GW is intimidated to put actual lore effort into them or make them do something meaningful for once
@isaiahkoufos3573 the only thing they get is a literal plot armor, deus ex machina, Greater Good God because GW has to ruin.the only non-religious faction
New "jump out boys" would be awesome!
Tau are eating good this edition
There was also a lore refresher about the region in the new White Dwarf. I can see this being kill team for now but with the number of factions involved it'd be nice if this became a crusade book eventually. That being said the next crusade should probably be chaos based, given the last two have been imperium v xenos.
The best part of this article was when a general asked what they were going to do about the people that would starve if they abandoned the agri-world, and the Lord Marshal's response was along the lines of "I dunno, have them eat faith or something". Peak Imperial shenanigans.
i want new vespid models so bad haha
Drakus Ferocitor sounds like it could be High Gothic for Ferocious Drake, so maybe a sky borne squad of some kind.
What if it's the next "Ashes of Faith" type box? A very narrative driven limited box set...
Valrak has been banging on about scions with jump packs and vespids for a while
Same here, I made some videos on Vespids and Swooping hawks for KT in summer last year, and early this year, and I don’t have the sources that Valrak has.
The tau do use the warp since 9thed. They just don't use navigators so they can only do small jumps.
Votaan use warp skimming: not quite breaching warpspace but skimming the membrane between the two realities. (This used to be the tau ftl in 4ed).
Kroot use similar warp travel to tau.
Nicassar don't have ftl...(This doesn't fit the lore, but they're a lesser known part of it)
New Elysian drop troops confirmed
T'au DO warp travel
They are still trying figure out how exactly it works so it's all highly experimental for them currently as they still don't even know what the warp really is. their first voyage through the warp they did it without a gellar field not knowing it's even a thing. it ended... poorly
@joelsmith8884
One of my favorite bits of Tau lore is that time they interrogated a guardsman to find out how warp engines worked.
He didn't know either.
Scions vs Vespids, lets goooo
They keep adding stuff, and al I want is updated rules for deathwatch.
Since the beginning of KT21, the new season first box is always 2 new teams (no upgrades kit).
Absolutely would love some new Scions
Why no Elysians 🥲
Gw hates them so you only get cadians sorry.
Jet pack scions makes me think of an elite troop version of the elysians
pretty sure at this point Valrak has rumoured any possible model release
I'm very happy if this confirms that box. Probably an auto-purchase for me, but I'm still really hoping Scions can be fielded with Agents armies!
New Scions would be nice but still I would rather see any other guard regiment kit to add further variety to the army
Please be Vespid!!!!!❤
Vespids are past due for a redesign. The old look is so derpy... I hope they let the artist change them a lot.
Vespids killteams would be killer, just sad to see another killteam box ignore our desperate need for catachan fighters
Tempestus and tau are not exactly what i hoped for but i am curious of the terrain and all. I hope its not a new edition.
Wish it was Kasrkin but I've got some 3rd party torsos lying around meant to fix the stupid-looking Scion ones if I were to ever buy any Scions anyway
That said I already have 24 Vespid so I can't even use any more
Don’t forget to bring a Tau !
i thought bc the guy was talking to a lord marshal that it was kreig
I would love a box based on scions fishing 😂
They should do catachan VS Tau
I hope its not Vespids unless they REALLY remodel them to look nothing like old Vespids lol
Seriously, I've kitbashed some Van Saar models with 3rd party jetpacks cause overall design of vespids are pure uggo
@@theonetruespice Yes haha, Van Saar are amazing, I use them for teched up kroot. Just replace the torso
so new vespids and an upgrade sprue for scions cool cool cool ... cool
Scions greatly deserve to have a proper kill team for the same name game besides the compendium
Scions could use a deeper model range.
Chances these are Inquisitorial tempestus?
I’ve got a black Templar army and wanted to know if this is a good army roster?
Characters: apothecary
Lieutenant in Phobos
Captain with plasma pistol
x1 impulsor
x10 hellblasters
x5 assault intercessors with jump packs
x5 assault inercessors
x3 eliminators
x5 infiltrators
x3 suppressors
Any tips on what I could add or get rid of for a 1000 point army?
Please sell that calnath terrain again!
Wouldnt this be the 4th tau kill team? I like the scions, they look cool
Please lord I would love 10 psions for a reasonable price.
Aw... was kinda hoping itd have to do with Taros :(
Vespids let go !!
so the rumors seem to be true.
Vespid vs Drop Troops. :)
I just got your dice today, if I don’t roll good I now can blame you for my losses😂
Can we please get a Tyranid Kill Team, we didn’t get Shrikes or updated Warriors, and it feels wrong
Will scions finally be available at a semi reasonable price?
NO!
As silly as the notion of having another Guard kill team is, scions getting love would be great.
Still waiting to be able to buy night lords kill team:(
I wonder if (Goddess) T'au'va will get a mention, she was involved last time we went to Chalnath.
one of the stupidest pieces of lore penned for Tau. then again, Phil Kelly isn’t known for being much besides a hack when writing them
Is someone who has both an imperial guard and tau army, this pleases me greatly
Are you saying we will be able to buy scions in 10 man boxes? I'm sold
PLEASE this would literally fix so much weird jank if the scions are real.
Scions as the battleline for agents of the imperium book that total exists and im not crazy
If we get 10 scions in a box, it'll be an improvement.
Orks
Nice 🤩
GAMES WORKSHOP GIVE ME NEW VESPIDS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the old vespinds look kinda bad, i would definetly pick up new models for them for my tau army
Still painting termination set. Geez
A Deathguard kill team would be nice 😡😡😡
Naw, t'au needs a third.
At this point with what GW is doing with older kits, I kind of don't want updates for a lot of units because every time an "Update" comes out we generally lose options and get nothing but Monopose models.
yeah, if they did update the scions we honestly might just end up with only hot shot las guns and volley guns with no other options.
I'd be pretty bummed honestly. With the exception of the Night Lords, this season has been very disappointing. The 4 factions with only compendium rules have been ignored and World Eaters continue to be the only faction in 40k without even compendium rules, while others are getting up to their 4th bespoke team.
If theyre going to release updated models, they could just do that instead of Kill Teams for factions with multiple.
I hope someone is willing to split the box in my community.
I play enough Kill Team to know, we're good on Bheta Decima. We're fine. No more. Please. That warzone is absolute garbage.
Add a comment...
I believe we are due for a new season of KT so a bigger kick-off box (even if it's not Octarius-sized), with two all-new kits seems appropriate. Modern Scions standing next to even just the new Cadians, let alone the new Kasrkin, do not hold up in scale, although I'd say they hold up in details. Good chance to totally redo the team loadout as well.
Its the start of a new Kill Team Season/Edition for this box. Typically both teams will be new models in that case. That's what happened with Orks/Vets, Kroot/breachers, Scouts/Scorpions, and now whatever this is.
Nice 🥳🇩🇰
Have GW just forgotten Admech are a faction? The Mechanicus game came out 6 years ago and yet they've never bothered making an Admech team with a Tech Priest all this time while giving SM 5 different teams...
It just seems insane to me.
Why don't they ever bring out a Custodes Kill team box. Rather than giving factions that have already got one, multiple sets?
Sister of silence can be an interesting kill team, but normal custodes I don't think is possible
There is a white dwarf kill team rules set for custodes. It has all of...3 custodes who can pretty much do 2 turns in 1. Apparently it's really strong.
This is not plastic warp spiders. *throws away*
Alternate theory: this is the lead in to Imperial Agents codex announcement. These are “non-standard” Tempestus and advice from a shadowy figure over a code-worded objective
We havnt got nightlords out yet a stand alown box... keep up GW production you are letting us all down.
Ашалеть, ты вообще спишь.. Ешь..? Маякни, если ты в заложниках
