At least this wasn't today's stream. I literally had to turn it off. Not because of misplays, but because of NL snapping at chat any time anyone said anything. It can be funny sometimes to listen to him go off on a type A chatter, but he was being just straight up toxic today.

i’ve had NL recommended to me for like 6 years now and i’ve only started watching because i unknowingly became addicted to Balatro. i’m so mad at myself for missing out on the lore but at the same time teenage me would’ve been a type A chatter with the only times NL responded would appear in “NL Most Based Chat Roasts”

objectively the best common joker is cavendish. supernova is pretty mid, it scales kinda slow and it can get screwed by either bad draws or some boss blinds.

@@reynoodle hard countered by needle and eye, soft countered by ox. same problem that card sharp has, sometimes you dont have the option to play the same hand multiple times. and if youre strong enough that 1-2 high card plays wins then youre not scaling supernova and probably not depending on it either. fortune teller is at least able to scale independently of hands played, and much faster than supernova even in strong situations for it.
Discarding a 6 while looking for a straight with 8 9 10 in hand into forcing sixth sense with a full straight in hand on the boss got me feeling pretty type A
Dumping the cards you are looking for is a play of sorts...

I have to say that I do believe that Fortune Teller is the best common joker, that doesn't mean most powerful, but it is the most fun to interact with, and that is what means fun to me.
I wish Balatro had more "busted" interactions between things, like how Peglin is very easy to go infinite with certain relics, I think there are a lot of jokers which would benefit from being able to interact with each other in silly ways

My favorite bit is skipping the entirety of Ante 1 without even looking at the tags at this point like it’s genuinely impressive how stubborn he is (and how often it actually works)
I mean, all it takes to get past ante 1 is 2 high straights, flushes or full houses, which is not hard to get if you use your discards smartly

NL always skipping the first two blinds is like when a machine learning algorithm picks up a behavior that gets them minor progress but hinders them in the future but now it's too late to remove the behavior without starting the algorithm over again

True that I play white stakes for fun if I find I'm getting stressed by higher stakes. I also play black stakes for fun though, because eternal jokers add an entirely new element. Getting a really good eternal joker with madness is sick. My dream is to get an eternal stencil and be able to copy it a bajillion times 🤯
