Women in Kenya's Conservancies raise their voices at IUCN Africa Protected Areas Congress

In July 2022, KWCA with financial support from USAID Department of Interior (DOI) sponsored 26 local and indigenous women from Kenya’s community-led conservancies to participate in the inaugural IUCN Africa Protected Areas Congress (APAC) held in Kigali, Rwanda.
The women comprising of conservancy female rangers, conservancy women leaders and gender specialists from conservancy associations participated in panel discussions to instigate and amplify their collective voices on Africa's conservation agenda.
For majority of the women, it was the first time attending an international conference.
Through their experience at APAC, the women continue to influence decisions and leadership in their respective conservancies.
