- HP Umpire Stu Scheurwater ejected Diamondbacks 3B Eugenio Suárez for arguing a called third strike, his second strikeout of the game. We also fact check an Arizona broadcaster's claim as the D-backs beat LA. Report: www.closecallsports.com/2024/...

If Suarez pulled his helmet up from over his eyes he might see the strike zone better
Hahaha
I'm having a bad game, so I'm going to blame it on the umpire. This is becoming a routine ejection
I'm having a bad game, AND I'M A BABY, so I'm going to blame it on the umpire.
Fixed it.
@@PapaVanTwee5you should probably look at the box on savant because its stretches and shrinks in the same AB. So really the pitch graphics shes using should have an asterisk on them
Can’t wait for the apology after he sees that it indeed was in the strike zone
That would mean he would have a moment of introspection and realize he was at fault... that ain't happening for sure!
lol, never gonna happen
I was at this game and had a perfect view of this. Suarez walked back to his position and continuously made the talking hand gesture followed by zipping his lips, maybe trying to say stop talking or I'm not saying anything else. He did it so many times that Scheurwater threw him out left handed, since his mask was still in his right hand. The second baseman was arguing the ejection and had to be held back
The dude was lucky to stay in the game as long as he did. Maybe he needs to go back and read the rules again for what a strike is.
Did he draw a line and get away with it because the umpire didn't see it? After his 8th inning K it looks like he may have drawn a quick line inside.
Umpires in past wouldn’t eject for line unless it was obvious and could see the line. A motion isn’t good enough to eject for.
I saw that too -- I suspect Scherwater didn't see it (he was still looking to the right doing his strike 3 mechanic). Either way, the batter didn't need any help getting ejected -- he decided he was going to go one way or another.
Adults acting like spoiled 5 year olds. Players are infants
NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Anthony Alfredo goes by ‘Fast Pasta’, I believe it’s even his twitch username
Came to hear you say “Eugenio”…?
There's also Anthony Alfredo, a NASCAR driver, who's nickname is "Fast Pasta".
NASCAR isn't a sport.
Linds might want to take another look at the savant box. It shouldn't be shrinking and stretching in the same AB.
Do you have stats on how many ejections this year are over a correctly officiated call? (or what fraction)
seems like way more than in the past...........at this point, just bring the damn robot umpire in so these guys can cry to themselves
About 10 ejections ago, they said that it was 78%/22% in favor of correct calls being argued/ejected on. Close to a 4:1 ratio...
@@kennowens7381 awesome, thanks!
The issue that needs to be made to teams and fans is the following. Balls thrown high and low ,and the box on your local feed is probably not accurate
I had to slow it down to a quarter speed to see where that first strike 3 pitch was on the side view (these guys throw 100 miles an hour!) and it's entirely above the knees. SWING THE BAT.
80% called strike accuracy.
hitters zone, as long as its consistent, not a problem. 94.38% on all pitches is above league average
Umpire was 100% right
Greatest night ever can happen every night, but only if you get better every night!
Even then, it can't happen if you go perfect. Once a perfect game is called then the rest can only ever be as good, never greater
@@hippokrampus2838 I'd argue a perfect game called with more pitches is greater
@@tomatopotatocelery that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that!
It’s always the guy hitting .200
There's an Alfredo in NASCAR
They said in sport. Racing isn't a sport.
Got any examples of "dumpiring"?
Put umpire-called balls/strikes with challenges in like in AAA and we don't have this kind of situation all the time. It works great, allows everyone to see what's going on and doesn't take long to disrupt the flow. I know that MLB has stated that they're not putting it in for next year and that's a huge mistake imo.
I dont understand MLB lol. Ez solution to probably half the ejections every season.
The problem is that the technology isn't getting the vertical zone any better than human umps. Each batter has a different height and stance...
The easy solution IMHO is to measure each player in spring training and then tell them, your zone is from 16" off the ground up to 40", next person is 14" to 36", etc. Then set them all ahead of the season.
And his team was winning.
Is "getting his money's worth" dependent on any specific parameter? The dollar on the exchange market? Gold futures? Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice? 😀
I think the phase refers to any fines that might be levied, so if he has to pay a fine, he's going to get his money's worth.
To be fair, missing 10 pitches by at least an inch is not a good night, regardless of who's side it's favoring.
Yes, but none of them were for the cry baby.
Missing 10 pitches in a night where you may have to make decisions on 220+ pitches is a really good percentage. Do you get that percentage correct every day in your job or are you allowed to make some mistakes?
@@viccorrell6157 There's a clear difference between making mistakes and obvious errors. I'm the first person to give umpires the benefit of doubt with close pitches, which is why specifically said missing 10 pitches by at least an inches. An umpire should not be missing that many going outside the margin of error. And yes any boss would call out poor performance like like. Or do you believe that such performances should be allowed to continue over and over again??
@@viccorrell6157 when missing 10 out of 220+ pitches is actually blowing 13 out of 178 pitches... oh wait, you said it's cool to make mistakes, carry on.
Gary Travis - the guy who never has made a mistake. I’m sure you’d shoot 100% each night on trackman if you ever decided to strap the equipment on and get behind the plate. Did you get the official trackman report or are you going off of the stupid little box on the tv screen - the box that shows the exact same strike zone for Aaron Judge as it does for Jose Altuve?
Player is clueless and the announcers are ridiculous
These days, if the announcers aren't total homers, they don't keep their jobs for very long
I live in phx…they suck anyways.. Long live angel hernandez
More announcers who suck at their jobs.
That said, I went an electronic strike zone…I stopped watching baseball. Won’t until it happens, which it will.
Nobody will miss you.
Quick! Someone call a wambulance!
Big cry baby who can’t hit MLB pitching.
Plz get someone to narrate this video
