Samantha, you always strive to have new ideas for all of us! Thank you! The ones you’ve chosen for texture today are really unique! Thank you for being sensitive to our need to “do something new” with clay! You are a wonderful, sensitive, wise, excellent teacher!! Thanks again!❤ God bless you!❤

Try dry foods like rice or lentils. Press them in gently with the acrylic block and then pick off. Or use mold maker for a reverse. A piece of heavy paper with string glued to it, randomly or in a pattern can be lots of fun. Also you can take lightweight spackle, apply it to cardboard and make patterns. Let it dry and press into clay.

One of my favorite textures to use is on the grip of one of my kitchen knives. I have a roll of non-skid shelf liner from the dollar store that has a sort of random pebbly texture. I use a piece of it under my tile worksurface to keep it from moving, but sometimes pull it out to do a texture. I've also used the tip of a ballpoint pen (with the writing point retracted) to make a nice scale texture for a mica shift.

I was just at Walmart and saw some adorable buttons that were things like cute sea creatures, farm animals, Mrs Clause and Santa and the characters from a Nighmare Before Christmas. I was thinking how cute they would be added to some clay creations! I personally never seen anybody use buttons. And I was quite surprised with myself for coming up with it seemingly on my own lol I’m not very good at coming up with ideas on my own. Pretty much everything I do is either duplicating someone’s work or doing a slight variation, but never something outside of the box. At least in my world lol of course most of them are plastic, so it will have to be added after their baked. But I thought how cute this will be! And they’re all the perfect size for miniature work! Just thought I would share that in case others might want to give it a try. And keep up the beautiful work! You are so creative! Love it when you post! And I love your accent! My two favorite are British and Australian

I have used lace several times and drill bits for a regular drill. Also when my son trimmed our juniper, I took some of the trimmings and uv resined them to create a texture stamp in a regular silicone lid for storage so that I was able to pop it out when it was cured. I want to thank you for the extra ideas you presented today. Thank you so much for all of the great tutorials you have on your channel.

Sam, it’s Ruthie again in New York. I was just thinking it would be so cute if once a month you did a contest… “ Guess what this texture is from?” The winner gets a small pendant made from that texture. Ha! Just a thought. When I was a writer for my high school news paper, I did a regular little column/ piece called: “ W hat is this?” Everyone loved it! You wouldn’t believe some of the answers! It’s fun. And… yes, we could see all the textures very clearly! Thank you sooo much. From your die hard fan!!! 😉😍

Great ideas. The bottom of bottles and crystal glass ware often have a nice pattern and similar to sand paper are walnut shell scrub pads which looks like snow pressed on the clay.

These are amazing ideas!❤ I really like the wire wrapped around a skewer. That, to me, looked like wood. That'll be perfect for the little jar houses I want to make. The shell and yarn pulling are beautiful. And the dinosaur! 🦖 Very cool.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
The netting from a bag of onions and oranges. I got some textured paper from my sister.

These are great! My favorites are the seashells, the string pull, and surprisingly, the toy!
I've made several types of textures with various seashells pressed in PC but used with PMC - Precious Metal Clay and had some really beautiful pieces come from them.
I've made two recently for use with PC using the ball tools of different sizes.
Thanks for showing these to us.❤

Very cool! Although I still haven't started my polymer clay journey yet, I'm still getting the materials and tools that I need (almost there) but I do have a lot of seashells and will try this technique for sure!
    Thanks, from Montana, USA 😊

Gorgeous Sam! The string one I’ve seen you do with paint. You know, they almost look like calla Lillie’s! I was thinking that might look sharp on a black collar necklace… maybe overlapping a few at different angles like ivy does? Thanx again. 😉 from NY State across the big pond?

❤Thank you for all the great ideas. I loved the shell one the best. Probably because the closest I am to the beach is 2 hours one way. I'd love to make some coaster. I think I'd use flowers to make the impression. What else would I need to do to make them into coasters?
