The poems make me think that Volo is from the older group of natives in Hisui. They talk to how the newcomers (diamond and pearl clans) started conflict because they didn't understand Arceus and instead kept fighting about which pokemon is Sinoh. It's written in first person as though the author is from the older clan (Celestica) so those two looking similar but having older knowledge would make sense. Part of their clan identity would be keeping the information correct since the author seemed rather peeved that the newcomers got it do wrong.
The person who wrote the poems is implied to be Cogita
Not sure if Volo was supposed to have a tragic backstory, always thought he was a case of flying too close to the Sun.

Considering the game takes place in the Meiji reformation period, trains will get re-introduced to the area soon and he will probably be the one in charge so we'll see him again in a kanto/johto/hoen legends game as a train conductor again.

I like how Volo is such a good friend throughout the whole story while subtlety manipulating you later on, then he all of a sudden tries to pull a 3rd Impact on your ass.
I suspected the twist, then was doubting because "No way they'd hurt us like that right" but then they did and I was sad about being right :(

It’s more likely that the game takes place 150 years before Platinum, going by the architectural and fashion inspirations drawn from the Meiji Reformation period. The modern Pokémon games say Spiritomb was sealed in the Odd Keystone 500 years ago, and in Legends: Arkoos, Vessa reveals that took place “hundreds of years” prior. This means the game can’t take place any earlier than 300 years prior to the rest of the main series.

Professor Laventon is from Galar, which is based on Great Britain. In the 1860s Japan was first visited by the Brits and many british people dicided to stay in Japan, maybe Professor L was one of them. Thats actually very specific.
While it is true that the game realistically should take place 150 years ago. This is a fantasy world, if they want the industrial revolution era to take place thousands of years ago they can do so. After all they put a royal family that used to rule New York and the equivalent of World War 2 happened 3000 years ago.
What’s sad is that if Volo just stayed completely quiet and gave you the last Plate so you could meet Arceus, he would have has his wish granted so he could see God.
He’s mentioned multiple times that that’s been his goal, and he’s been there for you when everyone hasn’t or couldn’t. You would have totally let him ascend that stairway with you. Then he could have sprung his whole Giratina trap.
But no. He HAD to drop the ball by challenging the kid from the future who both quelled the Nobles AND trained an army’s worth of Pokemon in a world where having even one is an accomplishment.
That would have been a lot smarter but Giratina would have turned on him as well. He can't beat Arceus, he can't disobey his father, and his job is to fix distortions, paradoxes, and the like. Giratina would have no reason to put up with Volo at that point. Just like before Volo ends up being a victim of his own hubris and self loathing.
The plates don't summon Arceus; collecting all pokemon does. You just have to collect the plates to lure Giratina out of hiding so that you could capture him. I am also under the assumption that Giratina was Volo's master, not the other way around.
@@andresmarrero8666 Uhm..what?? Giratina's job isn't to fix distortions and paradox's (he CAUSES them), nor has it ever been shown that Giratina obeys Arceus! Arceus literally had to banish Giratina because it tried to end the world (aka because it disobeyed Arceus and was a troublemaker), Giratina doesn't follow rules; hell, in Legends of Arceus it literally Obeys Volo to tear a rift in space and cause mass chaos and destruction!! Pokemon seem to be loyal only to those who gain their loyalty aka their trainers, Giratina has no reason to be loyal to Arceus as the llama in a fence literally banished it when it was an inconvenience.
@@testerwulf3357 Giratina's job is to fix distortions not cause them. This was shown to as as clear as day in the Giratina movie. It was shown the following movie that Giratina can't beat Arceus. Furthermore the red chain contains an aspect of Arceus's authority which Giratina's siblings cannot ignore and nothing has shown or implied Giratina to be an exception. On top of that we only know that Giratina was placed on godly timeout for some violent act. We do not know what that act was or what the circumstances surrounding it was and we will never know especially since all records were erased. Volo claims that he freed Giratina but Giratina has been shown on numerous occasions to be able to come out of the distortion world whenever he wants. Volo also claims that Giratina wants to confront Arceus however not only is this "confrontation" impossible for Giratina especially if it wants something to come from it, but also in all appearances has shown no desire to do so nor ill will towards its father. What Volo said was pure projection, assumption, and arrogance. He does not know as much as he thinks he does and likewise what you are saying is conjecture based on incomplete information. Giratina has no obligation to follow Volo but is putting up with him because it is the best way to fix this mess.
Heck, Volo could have asked for our plates. He could have come up with some cover story of "listen, it's too dangerous for you. You're too important to risk your life up there" and then we get the big reveal when we try to go up to find out why nothing seems to be happening.

Ingo makes sense to come from the past because:
1) while his job can be done by his brother, him missing would still be horrifying for at least one known character.
2) he joins the pearl clan because his subway is a means of transport (technically).
3) he’s actually about as strong as elite 4 members if I’m not mistaken.
4) he doesn’t have nearly as much representation as a lot of the other characters.
Yeah , I forgot that canonically all battle facility characters in different regions are on par with the elite four
And probably because Teselia/Unova would be the next remakes to be in line for the future. They need early publicity lol.

@@maikusei Ingo works thematically in the game because he’s in the Pearl clan (who praise Palkia, ruler of space), and his job was conductor / subway-boss, which is obviously space related.
10:54 Talking about the fact that an Ultra Ball was able to catch Dialga, I’m pretty sure the red chain weakened Dialga before shattering which allowed you to catch it whereas when Palkia was released from the rift, you didn’t have a red chain to weaken it.

fun fact, in case at least someone somehow was aware since it's a factoid that's been making the rounds already; Ingo is one of the most popular Pokemon characters in japan, hence why he made an appearance. also, as a small note since it wasn't mentioned, the order you fight Dialga and Palkia in- and whether you fight doritoneck or centaur- depends on which clan leader you chose to hang out with for the Lake Trio quests.

@@mranima748 Yep. It's not like information traveled very quickly in the Era that PLA is supposed to occur in. It could sometimes take days or weeks just to get initial reports, and to send out corresponding dispatches. Certain forms of Modern communication hadn't been invented and/or properly implemented yet, so most reports and corresponding actions were dealt with on foot or by ride (i.e. riding a Pokémon, or by the pony express irl).

One thing I love about Legends Arceus is that the sidequests rly make you feel like pokemon are integrating into jubilife village's society and give certain mons that I or many others didn't really care much about some much-needed love.
Mons like Spheal, Cascoon, Bidoof, Mr. Mime, and Chimecho which I previously considered to have been very forgettable, have definitely become more charming to me since I started playing Legends Arceus. Similarly, mons like Buizel and Paras are now forever going to live on in infamy whenever I play another pokemon game. The game really excels at making each pokemon species seem like a part of the world rather than just a number in the pokedex.

You catch only a part of the essence of Arceus, not Arceus itself, so in theory they can be lots of them.
No, you die and the legendaries can either become a pokemon that is passed down generations or will return to their domains to continue what they were doing before you caught em.
well its told that we are 15 in PLA and the mc in BDSP is 11 or 12 so it can't be us I think after we got the piece of Arceus in bdsp and after 3 years we got transported to hisui
@@AP4pro time travel makes things weird. think of it like this your future self that got sent to the past died due to the passing of time, releasing the pokemon back for present you that is not yet sent back to catch them. creating a stable loop as the trainer at the start of PLA doesn't bring any pokemon with him
Ok, so I'm not seeing a comment that correctly explains Ingo's situation, so I'll do it here.
Ingo's situation is significantly different from your own. To learn about why, we're going to need to talk about Parallel Universes.
So the Pokemon franchise is separated into 2 main universes with a possible 3rd one that no one really cares about(Let's Go games I think).
The separation between the two main universes occurred in X&Y's backstory. 3,000 year in the past from the events of X&Y, the character AZ created the Ultimate Weapon (the Flower weapon from X&Y). The Universe split occurs here. If the weapon is fired, Mega Evolution comes into being. If not, no Mega Evolution.
The first universe, where Mega Evolution doesn't exist includes the first 5 Generations of Pokemon games.
The second universe, includes X&Y, ORAS, Sun/Moon(OR Ultra Sun/Moon? Don't know) I.E. Mega Evolution central.
How does this relate to Ingo you might ask? Well, starting with Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon, Annabel appears with amnesia where she's not supposed to. How did this happen? Ultra Wormholes? Unclear. The game calls her a Faller as she's literally fallen from the sky. Weird. Anyways, this happens again. Somehow, in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Looker appears with Amnesia once again. How'd he get here? Not Clear. Seeing the pattern?
Ingo isn't like the player. He didn't travel to Hisui by way of Pokemon God. He's a faller like Annabel and Looker. Someone's messing with the Universes and we don't know who.
Fun Fact: Annabel came from Generation 3, Looker from Generation 4, and Ingo from Generation 5. If this pattern continues, our next Faller will be from Generation 6 where this whole thing started. Maybe Scarlet/Violet will give us the answers we seek?

@@elliejones8043 Zero Clue. Sword and Shield don't reference any other games to my knowledge. There might be something in the DLC but nothing I've heard about. My personal theory is that it takes place on the mega evolution timeline due to how gigantamax is similar to mega evolution but who knows.
@@rakurai4953 still a crazy interesting theory either way. Immediately makes me think about how in ORAS how you fight giratina, dialga, and palkia post game in the rifts in the sky which are similar to PLA's. Lots of connections, wish we had a more concrete timeline.

It's said he left nowhere to be seen again after beating him and Giratina so he could travel to Alola.
Unironically we find out that Volo and his relative are descendants of the celestials, the original inhabitants of Sinnoh.
The DP Clans are actually the descendants of the Invaders that came to the region to appropriate the celestials culture.
It's sort of feels like Volo is meant to be a stand-in for the indigenous people of Enzo which probably explains why hebso upset

And lemme be real, as evil as I acknowledge Volo is, I _refuse_ to believe he doesn't love his Togekiss. Looked this up to jog my memory of what has happened since I stopped playing part way through and was both helpful to remember what I was doing but also very funny and well made. Tyvm
i have weird headcanon that the Ingo you meet is actually the result of an as of-unmentioned situation involving whatever caused Looker to appear in ORAS (that would have became the Battle Frontier in ORAS). just that Looker was thrown through space and Ingo was thrown through Time.
Arceus himself was shown to resolve or even cause paradoxes to exist. maybe the player was thrown from a timeline that *wasnt* BPSP, and thrown there, whereas the Looker probably got thrown from a timeline that contains Megas. if PLA was set near-concurrently around the same time AZ was in Hoenn, that'd skirt around the implausibility+ambiguity of Looker having a Audinite that he seemingly had on him when he gained amnesia. it might even sidestep any issues of Looker being a faller in SM (but potentially not in USUM?). USUM would have to be canon just enough for the N-Solarizer/Lunarizers to exist in SWSH.

anyway, i was thinking about it too. Which versions are canon with SwSh timeline? Sun and Moon or the ultra versions?
I've come to conclusion it's the Ultra Versions simply because of Solarizer and Lunarizer and the Toxtricity poster in Game Freaks HQ in USUM.
@@Kyumifun AZ had to be in Hoenn, so he could inform the Dragonid people what mega evolution was, so that they'd preserve the information (upto and including the creation of mega stones), which leads to Zinnia giving Team Magma/Aqua the idea for the whole ORAS plot.
USUM is probably it's own retelling since they never elaborated on Fallers, and that it was the Ultra Recon Squad that helped with the Aether Foundation to create Beast Balls. those games would have to had happened so that the N Solar/Lunarizers could exist, however since alolan legends talks of both Solgaleo/Lunala, you could just guess that Colress' predictions was rightfully-calibrated for the legend that isn't on the box. Sword would have to be a male universe or took place in a reality where US/S occured. the creation of Type: Full (as Type: Null) would be directly tied to the ultra beast threat.

I don't think volo was immortal, I think he was pulled from the past to hisui. I think he was apart of all society we see glimpses of in the ancient stonework and ruins in the game.
Wouldn't he refer to himself more directly as a Celestica then instead of just saying that he has their blood? Even Cogita, who's heavily implied to be either immortal or at the very least centuries old, identifies herself as a descendant of those people rather than as one of them.

I beieve the shady figures referred to as having being seen at Cobalt Coastlands were meant to be the bandits, not the previous lord's ghost.
Also the Growlithe aren't related. One is the warden's partner and the other is the lord's descendent. The point is that the bandits overlook the true descendent, assuming that the runt couldn't be it, which is why their attempts to evolve the other Growlithe don't work
Also also the red chain did actually work! Which is why you're able to calm and catch the first legendary who shows up!

Pretty sure the plot of Gold/Silver is the same as Red/Blue, but the rival is a criminal and Team Rocket is running around like a chicken with their head cut off.

Theory on Barry's ancestors: its Adaman and Irida. While I dont think they get in a relationship, two of their decendents do, who in turn parent Barry. Same theory on Cognita and Volo leading to Cynthia.
Being related to Adaman would certainly explain Barry's personality (both are extremely impatient).
