432hz Verses 440hz Custom Shruti Box Tuning

On the left is a larger Shruti Box that I retuned for a customer. The smaller Shruti Box is factory tuned to A=440. Some people prefer the slightly lower tuning of A=432, which customizers, like me, can do.

What’s interesting about the shruti concept is pure harmonic intervals not based on the circle of fifths, such as 5/4, which give a completely different color to music. It’s appalling that all you find to talk about is this 432Hz new age bullshit the only purpose of which seem to give an opportunity to take money from idiots.

Hi Jean-Xavier. I know exactly what you're talking about through my university courses of Western music history, two degrees in music, my career in instrument repair and professional musician, and personal studies of the harmonic series with brass instruments. While I respect most of your comment, I don't accept that I'm taking "money from idiots" and the accusations that I'm taking advantage of anyone for fulfilling these custom orders.
This video is an example to show that I can retune Shruti Boxes to a fairly common request. A lot of my tuning jobs actually focus on pure just intonation, equal temperament, and a few other tuning schemes. The base tuning of what "A" will be often changed for the specific order I have, sharper or flatter than 440hz. Some customers really want 432hz because of some preference (most likely because it's a recent online trend) or because they're playing with other musicians using that tuning hz. I often discuss with the customer to confirm whatever kind of tuning is what they want before moving on and why 432hz, or different hertz, won't work with musicians/music tuned to 440hz. Lastly, if you know how Shruti Boxes are tuned from the factories (I've worked directly with one dealer and one manufacturer) you'll know that they don't use the tuning system that uses the harmonic series.
