      This needs more up-votes! That'll be one heck of a video.
      It'd also be funny to see how out-of-balance the whole engine gets and how hard would it be to get it all balanced out.

      Cody Wolf with the stock crank and custom cam you could make it into an odd firing pair... 1&4 fire, 180* later 2&3 fire, 540* cycle starts over.

    Normal spring material would lose its heat treat from the heat of the combustion chamber, so they are not acting as springs. At best all they would do increase your compression ration slightly.
    The "Made in USA" was a nice touch.

    The only reason it does not start is because the compression is too high now, the springs take up too much space in the combustion chamber rising the compression ratio...maybe drill a couple of holes in every piston!
    I like the humour in your videos, well done.

    For those people still in doubt if this could work:
    It can't, even if you could somehow install it into the cilinder and function.
    The energy needed to compress the spring, comes from the energy from the other cilinders. So all the energy of a spring releasing wouldnt be enough to compress another spring, due to losses. That alone would mean the engine would run less good.
    Added to that the loss of cilinder volume, which is also a negative, means you would lose a big amount of energy.
    All motors are basically 'converters'. A combustion engine converts chemical energy to motion energy. A battery converts chemical energy to electrical energy. A windmill converts motion energy to electrical energy (modern), a nuclear plant converts atomic energy to heat to electrical energy, etc.
    A combustion engine is a system (like above engines are systems). The energy has to come from somewhere and doesnt magically appear. It is either external, as for instance a sailing ship of windmill, or internal as for a combustion engine.
    As for a spring; it doesnt convert energy. It stores energy. The energy needed to change its position (energy status) by x, is more than you get back when released to 'relaxed' state. Due to losses, which go to warmth (heating up the system).
    Same goes for eleastic bands, flying wheels, etc.

    • @MichaelLaferriere
      @MichaelLaferriere Před 2 lety

      Surprised it took so long for someone to post this. Any energy gained from pushing the piston would have been taken from the compression of the spring. And if the could fit, they would have been bouncing around binding up the valved and making a lada mess. The fact that they (might) be for sale on the Internet shows PT Barnum was correct: "Theres a sucker born every minute."
