I'm not a huge KIA fan, but if it comes out looking like that, I will admit that it's a sharp looking truck.

Yeah, but this is marketed as an off pavement capable vehicle. Look at the off-road reviews of their other 4x4 vehicles, wheel spin, comical performance even just going up a rocky gravel road, on snow… holy hell just don’t. They need to focus less on looks and more on engineering. And PLEASE look up their rate of engine failures, not just on turbocharged engines, their failure rate is scary too. They make a decent riding moderately priced commuter car, but… other than that I’m at a loss.

They’ve been talking about a competitor to the Ford Maverick for a while now and they still don’t have one. I’ll believe when I see it on the streets. All of the manufacturers have put feelers out and some have built prototypes for the auto shows but none have showed up on any dealer lots. This is one more.

I have been a KIA owner since 2013 (single vehicle) and I am a fan. I am please with the how well mine has held up. I have over 125k miles on it and have had no major issues. I'll give it a look when it comes out

On our ranch we use trucks, they all have a eight foot long bed, most are two door trucks, some are what we call Six-Packs and have four doors, most are 3/4 ton trucks, some are 1 ton trucks all of them are four wheel drive. That’s a city truck and most of them only haul groceries.
yeah i agree. this style is very popular in australia so they are fitting onto that niche along with toyota ford nissan mitsubishi holden and whoever else i missed. young kids spend nearly a hundred grand ( oops there goes my house deposit) and are having credit thrown at them. they use them to get to work, poss carry a few tools and do lots of camping on the weekends. we do actually have actual utilities here. they are almost always one tonne capacity single cab

It is meant to compete in the Ranger, Tacoma, Frontier space. Not the 150, Ram 1500 etc.

KIa has come a long way
We bought a new 2003 KIA Sedona van for our famliy of 5. It has been the BEST value for our money. Paid $17K USD, and never had to put a dime into it except for normal care items and general maintenance. Sold it for $2K after 100K miles and 15 years of use. It's been to Burning Man three and survived!

Not everything needs to have a supercharged v8 in it but i guess you Americans only know of v8s they are very rare here in Australia i our utes only can get them in the Ram silverado and f350 and those here are well over 200k nu affordable so we are limited.
My dual cab ute is in fact a 2.2 lutre turbo diesel it goes well i tow a 21foot caravan with it and it tows it with ease very good on fuel we see things different here v8s are not affordable in any vehicle range so we must do with what we can we tune them up and do the best we can with what we have yes i would love a v8 but reality says no.@steeldragon5867

@@joshanderson924 no. It sells well because it’s A Toyota and has established a reputation of reliability and value. Most people buying a midsize truck absolutely do not need a 6 foot bed.
@@jagpilotohio Reputation is ONE of the reasons but if you know a little more about what I'm saying you'll understand. The Tacoma comes in TRD sport and TRD off road one has a 6ft bed one has a 5ft. Guess which one sells better?

Yeah the bed size needs to be at least the size of other mid-size trucks. It looks cool but you would have to immediately put a topper on it to have any usable space in the rear.
