There's a huge gap in the stars called the Bootes Void. If our galaxy was at the center of it, we wouldn't have known there were other galaxies until the 1960s (when telescope technology was up to it).

The problem with these photos is that there is nothing for scale. 0:28 looks like a puddle in a pothole, into which someone has spilled a melted McDonald's milkshake. The cup is just out of frame, I'm sure.
