    Thanks for the video. I just ordered a 750 and case feeder after finally getting fed up with my LNL AP. I could barely get through 50 rounds before something would go wrong with the LNL so I shelved it and have been loading on a single stage for the last couple of years. Hoping the 750 has been good to you since posting this.

    I think you should do a setup video. Your good at explaining things without getting too academic. Perfect for the average joe.

    Fixed case sticking on my 750 by chucking the funnel in the drill press and removing about 0.003” form the diameter with sandpaper...without touching the taper that bells the case...just the cylindrical portion below it. Started with 180 grit and worked to 1000 grit. Finished with metal polish. Sticking problem gone...even with wet tumbled cases.

    Hey I wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your video. I recently purchased the XL750 but have net even set it up yet. Your video gave me a good look at what to expect.
    I did purchase a bullet feeder as well. After years of a Lee Turret press from 1989 I decided I’d splurge on myself before I’m dead and have no use for any press. Lol. Good luck with your reloading. 👍

    You could try to polish the powder funnel with some Flitz or give a quick spray of Hornady One-Shot on the funnel before a loading session to see if that helps with the sticking. Just a thought! Great video!

  • @ZhuJo99
    @ZhuJo99 Před 4 lety +1

    For sticky powder funnel/flaring just use steel wool and polish it in the part where it changes it’s shape to conical. It will fix it.

    Good video, but if it were me I think I would check that powder charge maybe a little more frequently.

    • @TheGunBench
      @TheGunBench  Před 4 lety +1

      I did for awhile but began to trust it more and more, I check every 50 or so now but didn’t feel it was necessary to do more than that. Some people do every 10 or so which isn’t bad practice

  • @Vader4tw
    @Vader4tw Před 4 lety

    FYI I used to tumble for an hour with SS media. This does in fact clean too much of the carbon off of the cases. What your calling residue, is carbon, and actually helps the bullet release from the case neck. SS media is still superior, but you only need to tumble for about 20 mins.

    • @TheGunBench
      @TheGunBench  Před 4 lety

      Well thanks I’ll give that a try, at 20 minutes does it still clean it as throughly.

    • @Vader4tw
      @Vader4tw Před 4 lety

      @@TheGunBench what you want to do is find the correct combo of lemishine/dawn to get them shiny, and wash just enough to clean without removing all the carbon inside the necks.

    Question: my 750xl is on the way. The die kit has a depriming and priming die. However l, the Lyman manual says to deprive before I clean my brass and use a pocket tool. So do I deprime prior to cleaning if so do I omit the stage where it deprimes the case??

    • @TheGunBench
      @TheGunBench  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s all dependent on how picky you are, when I used a single stage I would deprime then clean but with the Dillon it would be a waste of time just to have clean primer pockets. Unless you are loading some high precision stuff I don’t really see the need in doing that

  • @Alexnchains16

    Is this a good buy for a beginner? I’m looking to get started in reloading but I have little to none knowledge

    • @TheGunBench
      @TheGunBench  Před 4 lety

      Some will say yes some will say it’s better to learn on a single stage so you can learn each of the different steps separately before you go on to a progressive. I started on a single stage, you can start on single and then upgrade later. You can always keep the single stage for rounds you don’t load bulk of or for precision accuracy

    • @x14inchdubsx30
      @x14inchdubsx30 Před 4 lety

      You can always get this and only use 1 die to mimic a single stage

    So, about $200 to outfit individual heads?

    • @TheGunBench
      @TheGunBench  Před 4 lety +1

      To quickly swap yes, you could get just the conversion kit for whatever caliber for about 85$ and use the original tool head and powder drop, but you’ll lose al your settings each time. That’s the cheaper but harder way.

    • @georgeharvey3062
      @georgeharvey3062 Před 4 lety +1

      The Gun Bench there is one other option without having to spend $200 to switch calibers. You can purchase just the tool head $35 and a powder charge die $14.99 and once you’ve set up the dies the only thing you’ll have to adjust each time is the powder charger itself. It can be disconnected and moved to a new tool head (of course you’ll need to adjust the powder drop each caliber. I’m going to get one powder drop to leave on my 223 all the time and one to use as a pistol charger for several calibers

      I like wet wash way better as well.. no need to deprime before washing and they come out nice and clean.
