  • Starship SN10 becomes the first to successfully perform the flip and burn maneuver, touching down vertically and (somewhat) softly! Several minutes after landing, the vehicle exploded.

I just realised that when a raptor shuts down and the vehicle starts changing its orientation it inevitably causes fuel to slush around, which probably causes the COM to move around violently. The fact that they can account for that when gimbaling the Raptors is truly impressive.

Most excellent editing of awesome footage, and such a crisp sound track in the headphones. Glad I stayed up in the early hrs in the UK to witness the live commentary on the 'pop', had been watching for 11hrs! Such a shame BBC news, having used a SpaceX and NASASpaceflight compellation in the morning with correct analysis, then changed it to just the explosion with some Padre Hotel footage with 'Rocket exploded on landing' commentary, typical sensationalism, funny they hadn't manage to blame it on someone flying a drone. Dear Nasa Spaceflight team, this video footage is simply outstanding. Congratulations to you all for this and the humour and knowledge during the presentation streams, or is it webinars? 😉 Pure class channel. My nephew and my mum joined me on FaceTime call from within the UK to share this event. And finally, thank you to SpaceX for inspiring us to imagine again.

Man, the colors on that explosion were really beautiful. What a way to go out after a successful test.
