The camera looking past the crane is awesome. You can see how slowly it goes up and how fast it drops. There's some really incredible footage great work Nasa spaceflight
PLEASE, somebody do the armchair arithmetic on the speed and distance of those COPVs!
Pa-CHOOOOOOONNNG!!!
SN11:
I will land horizontally and survive in spite
At 16:46 you can see the heat shield tiles just shattering off the side of the vehicle.
turned to confetti.. are they similar material to the shuttles ceramic tiles?
An important part of 'flying safe' to be sure!
@@jeremyyun1550 Similar concept but made from better materials.
🤔 ceramic shrapnel. Good name for a metal band. Keep on keeping on Scott.
Wow, hello scott
Re-launching a rocket after a few minutes, the fastest rocket turnaround in the history of SpaceX. :P
The history of rockets!
Hey that was fun, I want to do that again!! Oops not enough fuel!!
Looks like that second 'flight' made it to about 150 meters.
@@hankscally9658 150 meter hop for sn10!
@EthanHarry Du ya
Still incredible. It looks like something out of a 1950’s science fiction movie
Exactly what it is
which one?
@studio bauhaus
Wow, quite a nice comment ! If it were'nt for Elon's SpaceX HUGE investment, there would'nt be any launch back in USA.
NASA would have to rely again on ruskies' rockets. And pay Putin's bills.
Better make thousands of Americans and Canadians work at homeland, no ??
Regarding the Shuttles, they were outdated, using 70's technology.
Thank you NASA Space Flight Team, you're making me very happy providing these broadcasts of this history
what? thanks for what? unsuccessful test and EXPLOSION?
@@vuk1419 isnt fail at all
Love the flying COPV cylinder after the second "landing"! 😂
There's two of them. 1st shoots left, second does cartwheels.
They always have the most fun. " _Wheee.....!_ "
I need to know how far that first one flew! WOW!
@@-danR I counted at least 5 flying around but these 2 definitely get high marks for speed and acrobatics lol
😁😂
One of them looked like they must've had escape velocity
Those far-away shots look even more impressive than the closeups.
I'm really intrigued by the little gimble dance that happens whenever a raptor shuts down .. like it's passing the COM balance around. Its so cool....
I just realised that when a raptor shuts down and the vehicle starts changing its orientation it inevitably causes fuel to slush around, which probably causes the COM to move around violently. The fact that they can account for that when gimbaling the Raptors is truly impressive.
Difference between preprogramed and real time gimbaling. It looks cool
The Raptors sound so terrifying on Starship.
Just imagine how Super Heavy will sound like.
just watch a sojus launch on roskosmos site...massive
BOOM?
Imagine being on the fucker!!
They would have to have insane sound proofing on the inside
and this wasn’t even full thrust
I love the coverage NasaSpaceFlight provides. Thanks everyone! Special TY to Mary! It must be amazing seeing all this happen in front of you. 2020 kind of sucked and I needed this more than ever. Thank you. Go Starship!
And the awards for the best video views of Starship SN10's Test Flight go to....SpaceX and NasaSpaceflight!! Absolutely amazing job to the Starship teams, NasaSpaceflight, and Mary and Jack for this documentation of history! Let's go Sn11!
I've been waiting all day for all this footage. Beautiful as always! Thank you Mary, Jack & crew!
I have a feeling this will go down as a major milestone in humanity's journey to the stars. I can't wait to see future Starships fly and land (hopefully a bit more softly)!
this is just more proof that vertical take off and landing is a very unsafe procedure. At this point how can anyone in their right mind agree to take this as a safe technology? I have no doubt that spacex will eventually backpedal and put wings, wheels and parachutes on their craft and throw away all this "innovation" that is just passed up ideas from the last few decades that people were able to prove on paper were impractical designs...without spending millions and millions on exploding rockets
@@mossbogger8366 This is proof that it _is_ safe. It landed relatively softly only on the _third try_ ever attempted. This is still a very rough and incomplete prototype.
@@mossbogger8366 well, nobody is saying it’s safe technology...yet. It’s a testing vehicle for a reason. The proof will be in the pudding.
@@mossbogger8366 wow... if everyone would be as negative as you we wouldn't have any innovation whatsoever. Most likely we'd still be living in caves. People with your attitude never accomplish anything in their life.
@@Hikari_Sakurai embracing tried and true methods and condeming bad ideas for what they are isnt being negative, its being realistic. if you look at elon musk and his business practices, this is his business model...over sell bad ideas because they seem cool and ignore all the engineers who already proved this stuff to be impractical...then waste a bunch of peoples time and money only to back pedal to conventional wisdom
The village "crane" camera footage is an awesome perspective shot. Amazing work Mary, Jack, and everyone else on all the different angles.
Cleanup Crew when SN10 lands: YES WE DON'T HAVE TO CLEAN UP!! | Cleanup Crew when SN10 explodes: I QUIT!
Disassembly crew when SN10 lands: NO! NOW WE HAVE TO DISMANTLE ONE MORE STARSHIP!! | Disassembly crew when SN10 explodes: Oh, thanks god. That saved us much work.
@@cory6294 Guess I didn't really think about that. Thanks for pointing that out though.
@@ILikeRockets62 : Why would they quit? It's a job. And for all intents and purposes...job security. lol 🔥👍
Those up the skirt shots are amazing! That sounded dirtier than I meant.
Everyone: Celebrate amazing progress and landing success
Media: Another spacex rocket explodes!
Yep. The media are full of ****!
SpaceX did not even show the explosion.. it is not a success story and everybody is idiot these days.. no one would want to get on a ship explodes but happy about it.. madness
@@vuk1419 yes it does success, timeline by milestone success
@@vuk1419 it's a prototype, far from final version. Did you ever try doing anything more complex than "hello world" yourself? They landed it after third attempt of that crazy belly flop maneuver. Who expected that? Nobody tried doing anything like that before. Closest thing would be some trick that fighter jets do on airshows sometimes but I'm not sure.
@studio bauhaus
You really know nothing in technology ! Plus, you really have a bad mouth, sonny !
BTW, were you at the Capitol on Jan 6th ? You sound like one of those !
I have goosebumps watching this back! We witness history yesterday! Thank you for the amazing coverage, it was great spending nearly 12 hours with you all!
how amazing, congrats to everyone at space x you deserve it and especially to nasa spaceflight for the top notch coverage
Most excellent editing of awesome footage, and such a crisp sound track in the headphones. Glad I stayed up in the early hrs in the UK to witness the live commentary on the 'pop', had been watching for 11hrs! Such a shame BBC news, having used a SpaceX and NASASpaceflight compellation in the morning with correct analysis, then changed it to just the explosion with some Padre Hotel footage with 'Rocket exploded on landing' commentary, typical sensationalism, funny they hadn't manage to blame it on someone flying a drone. Chuckled SN10 giving birth to some mini aerobatic SN10's as a last joyous act....
Im still amazed there wasnt any issue with the last engine, it looked a little rich from the color of that flame all the way up but man did those engines look good!!!
Yea if you look before the flip the engine ignites into flames...then during the landing the same booster ignites again....possibly too rich or faulty!...either way it was a beautiful run!!!
I thought on the accent the exhaust trail was a little dark. To much fuel?
I believe the rich engine was cause of explosion at the end. Maybe a valve stuck open causing fire after all engines were shut down. Starship was sitting on it's skirt. landing gear all collapse up into frame. trapping leaking fuel at base.
It looks like the fire started just before landing. Starship hit the ground hard, it bounced!!!
@@what-werd pay close attention to the flip maneuver during accent upward
I cant believe how fast SpaceX is going, I mean they launched to 10km then did a 150 meter hop so fast right after!
Yes, there must be a time machine involved. This time the needle was in the negative.
I honestly think hearing everyones excitement is probably the best part of this particular video. 👍👍👍 Excellent!
I like how you can see three distinct camera shakes on the Village Cam after engine relight
Jack's "That was awesoooome," was my favorite part of the stream yesterday😂
You all did great!!! Great video, great commentary. Go SpaceX!
Absolutely stunning footage as usual, thanks for documenting everything as thoroughly as you do.
Great videos. It came down hard and fast, you can see it bounce in Mary's static shots.
Incredible footage! Thanks to the whole NASASpaceflight team and especially to Mary and Jack for all their footage. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart
Amazing coverage yesterday. I was watching the whole thing. Thanks for your enthusiasm and dedication. I’ve been a space fan since 1971. Bring on Superheavy!
Another great show from Spacex and sn 10. Another great event shared by NSF team, thanks guys! awesome work as always!
I'm just so completely astonished by that landing manouver... O_O
That was a fantastic view. Just as impressive as the live was yesterday. Gigantic step for SPACEX in the positive direction. Keep up the great work. In my lifetime I’ve seen the beginning of space exploration beginning with the Mercury series. It’s still exciting to see this continuation for future years to come. I’m extremely proud of these programs!
If that is not some of the best camera work, or what. Beautiful following of SN10 through it's flight and the shot of the relight to landing was epic. Thank-you.
Best collection of SN10 launch/landing/explosion footage yet! Incredible work @nasaspaceflight 👌🏻💥🚀
That village shot is amazing!
I’m loving the ambient audio mix, makes it so much more of a historic event
You guys do an excellent job with your live stream and videos. Thank you.
Thanks for the amazing coverage!
I love the static fire hose after the explosion. It reminds me of Iron Man 1 when one of the extinguisher arms goes to put out Tony when it's not going to help.
10:07 is a beautiful shot, well done NSF
Fabulous event! Step by step it gets better and better! Even popped its own 'cork' @ the end after waiting a respectful couple minutes ~
Thank you SpaceX Team! We're with you all the way!
SN10 be like: "Job well done, initiate self-destruct."
Ya'll here @ NASASpaceFlight are awesome!
So many super fantastic shots -thank you.
This all is sooooo cool.
Thanks, NSF team. Great coverage as usual !!!
GREAT camera work MARY. You're the best. Be safe and be bless 🙏
Bloody brilliant fantastic a giant leap forward !
The amount of data and newly acquired wisdom this succesful flight has generated...amazing.
This was just awesome coverage..., thankyou so much... 🙏 I have to say that after the explosion that fire extinguisher coming on and going off then on..., reminded me a whole lot of the scene from Ironman when he was testing his suits... 😂 ..., thanks again for what you do and how you do it... 🙏
really awesome camera views! Best work, thx
Its good that there are so many different footages.

Loved every minute!!! 💓💓💓
I think the shot at 10:10 is the best video of a Starship landing to date. Nice perspective and sense of scale.
Love that crane shot, awesome perspective!
As always great footage!!
What an incredible couple of weeks! First we get to see Perseverance land with that incredible footage and then SpaceX make history with the first starship landing. So lucky to be alive at this point in history. Thanks NASA Spaceflight crew for capturing this history!
Honestly Elon made everyone happy with this one. The people who wanted a landing and the people who love explosions both got what they wanted.

Dear Nasa Spaceflight team, this video footage is simply outstanding. Congratulations to you all for this and the humour and knowledge during the presentation streams, or is it webinars? 😉 Pure class channel. My nephew and my mum joined me on FaceTime call from within the UK to share this event. And finally, thank you to SpaceX for inspiring us to imagine again.
Man, the colors on that explosion were really beautiful. What a way to go out after a successful test.
