Couldn't agree more. The most complete drummer out there. He can move from one genre with ease. Although, I've not seen him play thrash metal. A few hours with a metal specialist, I'm sure, would change that. 😂

Dave is the man with the plan. I have seen Chick play several times but unfortunately never with Dave, it just never happened for me. Chick, Dave and John was the greatest jazz trio of all time for me. I realize its personal taste and everyone has their favourites, but for me....that was the greatest....and my greatest regret is never seeing them together. Perhaps in the next life. That would be an awesome welcome into heaven! 😊👍

Totally. One of things I love most about Dave's super-tight playing. Going clear back to the Electrik Projekt days with Chick, he was always on top of the stabs and pushes in the arrangements. Just killer.
And every hit he strikes is spot on. And I mean 'every' hit.

Yes it does. Smooth tone
Its not only the tone. They did an impro jam today and the licks runs and the scales that Kennedy gets out of that bass are incredible. He plays like a violist on his bass. Double stops, runs so fast that you think: ok is this still a bass. And yes with an incredible tone.
Every musician on that stage is a master of his instrument and perfecter of his craft!

what a beautiful performance by Weckl and Kennedy!! nowadays you are able to discover so many great drummers. they are so talented and playing so fast that blown your mind away. but they don't give you the feeling that you are listening something unique. this is what makes drummers like Weckl special. he is not only a great drummer but he is also a great artist on any level. from his first work "master plan" to today he is getting better and better. still hoping to get their last Elektric Band project with Chick Corea soon. Cheers.

Honestly, this is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Those trumpets add another dimension altogether. As per always, Dave is superb on drums, as is the band equal to the task. Bravissimo!!!

How is this humanly possible? Most groups trying to play a complicated Latin piece would have an additional 3 percussion men trying to keep up... Dave just made them all obsolete! Bravo!

Absolutely superb! Great brass and sax combined with the tightness and incredible groove and feel provided by Dave, Tom and Stu. If Buddy Rich had still been with us he would have wanted to cover this with his big band!

No drummer is as relaxed - if not almost ready for a nap - than Dave as he plays some of the most brilliant drumming in modern music. His fluidity on the drumset is like a dance being played on them.

I’ve always been a Dave Weckl fan!! When I was in High School…Dave was on drums with the Buddy Rich Big Band…needless to say, I got to eat dinner with him and get kick lesson…I was playing in a Youth-All Star jazz band in Harrisburg, Pa; underneath the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz…I got to play Dave’s brand new out the box Yamaha Kit; that’s when he was playing that green kit…and he was still with Zildjian Cymbals…I also got to test out, what eventually became the K Custom Hybrid line…still have the drum head Dave signed for me and the sticks (red Vic Firth’s) he gave me that night.
How a quartet of players can jump in to a band that's new to them, playing such complex music, and perform flawlessly from the start, is beyond me
