- In this pottery video I make hollow heart shaped chrtistmas ornaments.
And I show you my take on Mishima decorating. Carving in clay and inlay of colored slip.
I use Mason stains to color the slip I made from the same claybody I work with wich is Laguna 66.
I hope you enjoy!
Happy potting,
Monique

Thank you!
Fantastic work, great personality, I love watching your videos 👋
Thank you!
How I found your channel will forever be a mystery to me, but THERE you were!!! I did not understand the stages of clay. I wanted a two sided Christmas ornament with that curve. I tried all sorts of methods, stuff, and designs...failures, all. Thank you! I wish I'd have thought how you think!
Thank you and welcome! We can all learn from each other right? I learned this from someone too! Happy potting.
I have seen these done before but never with the cardboard cutouts. That makes so much more sense. The others turned out too bulky for me so I stopped making them. Thanks for the pointer!
@@diannaineson4804 glad you liked it have fun!
Great tutorial my lovely Pottery sister. Enjoyed it very much. My Cissy is with me watching your Sissy too! Great techniques and a lovely project for a beginner. Thanks for all the time it took to prepare, film and edit - i know what it takes! 😅
Thanks sweet pottery sis! My Sissi says hi to your Cissy, woof! 🐶 Pew, a lot of cutting and sorting in this one lol! I bet you know that too! Sending hugs your way 🥰
from heart to heart, its so beautiful 🥰🥰
Thank you!
Hahaha, sehe jetzt du bit es!!!! 🥰😍😘
Thank you for sharing the hollow heart tutorial Monique😊. Enjoyed your video very much and you make it look easy, and how important it is to have patience between the steps. I look forward to getting some clay under my nails😊❤️😊
Thanks Gina! Have fun!
Very nice Monique! I bet you could take the edges where you join the halves and ruffle them, maybe even do a little cut work like lace. I may try that! Maybe even put a little ball of clay inside to tinkle like a bell. Hmmm. So many possibilites!
Thanks Pat! Oohh, I like the idea of a little bal of clay inside! That's clay for ya, ....infinite possibilities. 😅👍
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Love all of these - I will definitely be giving these a try 🥰 thank you for sharing x
My pleasure! Thanks for your comment and have fun!
I loved this video. I think I will use Raku clay and put some balls of clay inside to make a rattle. Should I put wax inside to keep tiny balls of clay from sticking? I think with Raku glaze and firing, my rattle will look tribal. I guess I could put dried tiny balls of clay inside and they probably would not stick.
I love the idea of a Raku version! And yes, dried out balls will work, I have done that. Have fun!
Love your wonderful personality it’s make learning a pleasure ,cheers from Jennifer Downunder
Thanks so much!
How do you stop them from exploding in the kiln with such a small hole in the point?
Air does not cause explosions, moisture does. So I let them dry for a looong time lol.
Nice idea! I am going to try it. Question? How do you set it in the kiln on the glaze cycle?
Have fun with these! I fire them hanging from a bead rod, hence the nichrome wire.
Thank you.@@nukuaceramicsbonaire
Aww poor puppy is scared of the storm. My Older dog hides in the bath tub when we have thunderstorms. The puppy tries to climb on me and sit in my lap and he's 110 lb's and growing. but they love chilling out in my pottery studio
Wow, that's a big puppy! lol But anything for our furry friends right?
@@nukuaceramicsbonaire You got that right. There are fur babies
Loving ❤❤❤. How do you fire them when they are glazed?
Thanks Jan! I fire them hanging from a bead rod, that's what the nichrome wire loop is for.
@@nukuaceramicsbonaire brilliant, I'll have a go at that ❤️
Can you use underglaze instead of slip?
Yes you can!
Are you in Hawaii....so much rain
Hawaii?? No, I am on the other side of the continent, on Bonaire. 😄
What kind of wax are you using?
I use wax resist by Amaco.
