I miss the days that me and my dad would go fishing, even if we didn't get a single bite. I had him and he had me. God Speed and RIP pops.
I know how you feel about that , same here with me .
You sure know how hit the soft spots☹😥
Never had a dad to take me fishing , I need to spend more time fishing with my son this year ...
That's why my dad always took some beer.
Nothing better than beer, boat, and catching fish.
James Barron my best memories as a small child were of dad and me fishing on the White River in southern Indiana. Caught my first fish there. Dad has been gone many years now but those memories are still alive. 😊
You see brainless people getting rich from videos where they catch nothing. This is the man should be getting the payouts! The random humor and wholesomeness is awesome.
And the man can fish like they wanna get caught....
Amen to that! Watching a legend right here!
This is my second video of his that I am watching and I'm thinking, "Why doesn't he have more subscribers?"
Nick Lopez We were wait on you to find him 👋...... Now we’re all (you included) wait on the rest of the fishing 🎣 world to find him to.... Then we can fix the country, and the world 🗺..... lol. Welcome home.
Gunner, I was a teacher and I think Richard is a GREAT teacher. Each video has an objective and a plan. I have learned so much from him and enjoy watching his videos multiple times because they are so filled with information and tips. Also, he really doesn’t waste a lot of time getting his points across. I think I could name at least 25 major things I have learned from him. And he is funny, as well as humble and smart.
“It makes me nervous when my wife screams at me” that little clip had me laughing so hard🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've got to be honest, you are the kind of person I would love to just spend a day fishing with and talking to and learning from.
So true
Facts!!
Any time I need a pick me up I watch your posts been in TN for 2 years now Hope and pray I get to go fishing
I'll do a ditto on going fishin' with THE FISHING MACHINE. It would be fun and an honor to go with him whether we caught any or not. However, not catching fish with him is doubtful.
You wouldn't even have to wet a line and you could have a good day with him
His commentary makes ya feel like it's jus you and Jim on the boat, no gimmicks no fancy editing and graphics ...absolutely love your videos sir, thank you
Ya know Richard? You’re just good people. I am so glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I second this, I just love seeing em get all hype about these fish
how can ihall them in like you
It's almost like when Richard Gene is in that boat he is in a kind of church. He sure loves what he is doing and it's fun to watch.
The Lord created for us to enjoy.....it’s just that simple. Appreciate you Richard Gene.
Merritt Wentz Amen!
Love your shows rich. Your the best.. Tight lines..
Amen brother
My pop is a retired carpenter and avid fisherman. His hands were as nasty as 80 grit sandpaper. I've noticed early videos you have those same rough and cracked hands. But now I see they are looking better. I know what that signifies and I am so very happy for you, Richard.
yea the man also has big arm wrestler hands hed be a beast if he trained lol
You’re like the grandfather I never had, thank you for your knowledge sir.
I'm a simple man.
I see a Richard Gene video, *I click.*
Richard, your fishing videos remind me of why I first got in to fishing a long long time ago. It was because it was fun. Competitive fishing can be too, but a lot of times, it puts stress into it that takes the relaxation out and watching you reminds me of what it's actually for. Thank you for that. It would be really great to fish with you. Even more than any great and famous tournament guys.
Have you ever noticed how people who are really truly professionals at something can make every little detail look so easy? Mr. Gene does it in every video. I love watching for that very reason. He is the Tiger Woods of Southern fishing. Smoooooth. And very humble. Thanks Mr. Gene for sharing these videos!
I recently bought a 6 foot Eagle Claw ultralight rod based on your recommendation during your livestream. Paired it with a Shimano Syncopate reel. $75 for the rig and it instantly became one of my favorite setups. Casts tiny lures a mile. Thanks, Richard!
Not comparing you based on age at all, but the way you talk when you fish reminds me of my grandpa. Same EXACT sense of humor and same sense of appreciation of the great outdoors. He served honorably in WW2 and he's the one who got me into fishing. We shared many amazing fishing trips together before the Good Lord took him home. When I think about him and start missing him I come to watch your videos. Keep doing what you do, sir.
Richard I just gotta say I was never a very good crappie fisherman until I started watching your videos and using your techniques and equipment. I'm a die hard Abu Garcia fanatic so I strictly use their rods and reels, but I love that I have easily doubled the amount of crappie I've caught this year than any other year! Thanks Richard!!
Richard Gene, I’m really glad God put you on His beautiful green Earth! Because of your generous spirit I learn a lot from you!
Your videos are truly a breath of fresh air. I know what you mean when you talk about pausing to enjoy the scenery, I often find myself doing the same thing and enjoying God's great creations.
Amen to that!!!
Said it before, saying it again, watching you fish, watching you be mindful of the creation and beauty puts a soul at peace.
You're the best part of social media. I appreciate you and thank you for teaching me how to fish and enjoy boating at 58 years old.
My first fish, crappie, I caught, was from your guidance.
Phenomenal job Mr.Gene,I always post this before I finish watching your videos only because I’m never ever disappointed 👍🏾
Richard, I appreciate your humor, southern accent, and your thoughts of what fishing is all about! So glad I found your channel. Keep mak'n videos!
Just stopped in to like the vid, love watching and learning from you Richard!!
I tried your slow reeling technique today in Lake Norman before the rain came in and sure enough it’s just a thump and then you got them. Thank you for your videos sir. Your enthusiasm and positivity keeps me motivated to get out there when I can. Hope you had a great thanksgiving. God bless you brother.
I’ll said it once and I’ll say it again the outtro is the best on CZcams!!!!! Awesomeness!
Great video! Couldn’t agree with you more about the beauty of fishing and it’s surroundings. Great to see a gentleman like yourself still appreciating the simple joys in life. Keep up the great videos!
I love how you appreciate the little things around you, that's how my dad fished and showed me how to see it that way, love what you do sir
LOL. Sometimes I'll watch the first few minutes of the video and then just fast forward to the end for the spaz attack. Love it!
Love your support of all our veterans. I am a female angler and have been wanting to learn to catch crappie. Will continue to watch

"It's all about comin' out here!" Thanks for sharing your experience & knowledge & love of the fish & sport.
Nice video Richard. I’ve learned an awful lot about fishing for crappie from your videos. With what I’ve taken from you I’ve been rewarded a state citations for catching a black crappie 18 inches, 2.7 lbs. Thank you sir.
I was about to go to sleep....BUT sleep can wait now.
Richard something I learned probably 40 years a go was to rub a new jig body on a crappie that was in the live well. I guess it neutralized the factory smell. Dad and I were fishing and every time an old jig would get torn up it would take a while to start catching on a new jig body. If I rubbed my new jig body on a crappie it'd work immediately. If they made scent sprays back then we didn't have them. I still have the Lowe boat w/ white Johnson 40 in the basement that we were in that day.
Love the video, Richard. The fun thing in watching this is you know your stuff. You know what kind of fish you got when they strike, something my grandpa taught me in lower Minnesota when I was little. Be a thrill to fish with you someday.
Always a treat to see your program,, there’s never a show that I haven’t enjoyed with the utmost!! And that’s a fact,, not an opinion...
Great fishing, good fish, great day !...and I'm digging those new white converse tennies...!!
What a wonderful southern spirit this gentleman has. He is a tribute to the southern folk from whom he sprang. I'm sure his mama is real proud of how he turned out and how much love he spreads into the world.

Was awesome watching this my cousin told me about you and you sir are salt of the earth!
I am addicted to this channel , It's the only one I've turned notifications on. The apparel looks great. I'm going to check that out. I would love to see a " Fishin' with Elmo" or some kind of slogan stickers, " Fishin' cuz it's good fer yah!" . This man works hard for his views.
Enjoyed watching ! God Bless You ! I’m like you and enjoy being out there in the Beauty as well as Athens fishing .
I love watching your line jump before you set the hook. On most of the crappie that I catch, I never feel the fish until I set the hook. Hi vis line and watch it like a hawk. Grin.n
It’s amazing that you can tell by the tug that what’s at the other end is a crappie or bass! Amazing!
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, best channel on CZcams!! Lol one thumbs down that person must be in Australia because everything there is upside down 🙂
