    - Central Locking
    - Sliding steel sunroof
    - Headlight wash system
    - Electrically operated wing mirrors left & right
    - Electric windows front & rear
    - Split fold rear seat 60:40
    - Rear headrests
In addition to these options the car also has the following extras:
    - Votex centre console - a rare sight!
    - Dealer fit Blaupunkt Radio / Cassette
    - Votex mats front & rear
    - Volkswagen rubber over mats
    - Volkswagen front & rear mud-flaps.
Having personally owned many Mk2 Golfs the opportunity to find unmolested examples rarely occurs these days, so when we spotted this stunning example we were keen to contact the current owner of this 86k miles classic.
Finished in her stunning Diamond Silver metallic, this Mk2 Golf GTI remains is in fantastic condition, with panel gaps consistent with Volkswagens high build quality. The history file confirms that in 2015/16 the Golf received a doors off/glass out repaint (with accompanying photos) with this purely taking place as the silver had dulled over the 29yrs since her original build and that with an absolute attention to detail this car has been returned to 'factory fresh' specification; we can say with certainty this is a car we would happily keep in our own collection if space allowed. All the rubbers, side trims, wheel arch plastics and the bumpers remain in fantastic condition; the decals, badges are all in place and factory correct and with her refurbished Pirelli alloys, affectionately known as "P-slot" in the mk2 scene, shod in brand new Pirelli tyres too, this mk2 GTI looks just right and with the exception of the odd minor mark, none of which detract from her condition, it is remarkable to consider this GTI is now 37 years old and she happily still wears her GTI badge with great pride!
Consummate with the exterior condition the interior is just great too and most importantly there are no after-market speaker holes etc. The seats finished in black / silver horizontal stripe, a combination only found on cars finished in Diamond Silver or Jade Metallic are free from any major marks with seat bolsters which still remain firm and supportive.....and how many mk2 GTIs have you seen with both the Votex centre console, split folding seats and rear head restraints.....these are rare factory options and dealer retrofit items. The dash area remains free from any damage and the MFA (trip computer) remains functional and on inspecting the boot area shows the car to be all original, with the Volkswagen F.Aid kit, tool-kit all in place with the all important Volkswagen 'build' sticker is present on the rear panel, matching exactly the one placed on the inside of the service book.
Mechanically this Golf GTI has obviously been cherished too. From cold the 1.8 litre K-Jetronic starts readily and settles into smooth idle. Out on the open road the GTI performs exactly as expected with the 8 valve providing smooth power delivery through the crisp 5 speed gearbox. For those who have owned a mk2 GTI in the past many will remember their distinctive sound, nothing raucous, just a crisp, sweet tone from the factory correct twin slash-cut exhaust. As the advertising campaigns suggested, 'if only everything in life was as reliable as a Golf' .... I would have no hesitation in jumping into this GTI and driving anywhere, she's a real pleasure to drive.
A truly cherished example this Volkswagen Golf GTI comes with a great history file. The box folder contains a great raft of invoices, the original dealer book pack with instruction manuals, dealer network information and the all important Volkswagen service schedule booklet with no fewer than 19 service stamps, early history being VW main dealer (Vindis & Normand Continental with dealer plates etc still on the car), followed by independent garages through to recent servicing by the most recent owner and naturally she'll be fully inspected / serviced and MOT'd before she leaves us for her new owner. In addition to her comprehensive history file, which includes MOT certificates, she also comes with 2 sets of keys, a 1986 'The Golf' dealer brochure plus numerous road test articles.....the perfect history file.
A classic in every sense of the word, the mk2 Golf GTI, gives all the enjoyment of classic car ownership with the driving dynamics and ease of ownership of a modern motorcar and in such wonderful condition and with the history to match we really don't think you'll find a better all round classic than this Typ 19 Volkswagen Golf GTI.
