Canelo seemed to be quite happy to let Gomez hit him for 4-5 rounds, didn't do a lot. He was losing the fight up until then. I was surprised that he didn't knock him down earlier.

The best jabber will win that night Floyd step jab to the body is great. Canelo's stiff jab to the head is fast. If Floyd does the step jab Canelo will need to take a step back so Floyd could just miss so Canelo could counter with a lft hook or right as Floyd gets back into a standing position.

really nice boxing on Canelo par using shoulder roll too cut distance. Canelo for such a young fighter he extremely smart. But you will need a plan A to Z o beat Floyd.

Other than the knock down , Gomez did a good job. Did you notice how Carlos was trying to imitate Mayweather's defense?? Has has not defected it, yet. As you can see he got licked on the left side of his face . He did not raise his shoulder and stand sideways sort of to guard against incoming punches. No he did not get. Lucky in the 6th, but rather Gomez did not retreat in time.

I'm not a biased canelo fan and do acknowledge other boxer other than my favorite canelo..
His mayweather style of defense has shown a lot of improvement from this fight to TODAY! He's almost perfected all of his skills.
Another note Just like I said that I'm not a biased fan. I do also acknowledge that Lara landed more punches on points than canelo. BUT canelo landed more power punches.
Also LARA may have probably shown to have won on punches but not on power punches and also he was literally running the whole fight and so because this isn't amature boxing and canelo outweighs on power punches, canelo won

It's funny how people hate on Floyd's style and technique, but here you have the future face of boxing trying to take a page from the Floyd Mayweather book. Why? Because no matter what fake fan(majority of fans) say, Floyd is a legend. Floyd has done what Ali, Leonard, Duran, Chavez, Tyson, Hagler, etc. did for him. He has set an example for the new generation to study. Canelo does a lot of Floyd Mayweather type of stuff and the fans don't even see it because they hate Floyd so blindly.

Floyd was good, perhaps the best at one single thing: RUNNING & HIDING. That´s it.
When did he run and when did he hide? I've watched all of his fights and I have yet to see any of that.
Let me say it more clear: Floyd was the best at dodging punches and walking backwards during all the fight. He would never go directly into exchanging blows or haymakers. That's why the boxing community disliked him So much. Just try to compare him to real fighters like Roy Jones Jr, Mike Tyson, JC Chavez, Klitschko's, Pacquiao, JM Márquez, etc
Why would he walk into an exchange when he can just out land his opponent without any of that? it defeats the whole purpose of boxing. If you don't like how he boxes then I would say the problem is with you and everyone else like you because that's boxing.

You need to look at this way, he was hurt from that shot to his temple and then he got hit again and again after that by canelo, YEAH the ref stopped it too fast should've let him drop but they way they see it is if they let him keep going he might die.

they stole this fight from Gomez...Canelo was set to be the face of boxing at the time in preparation for where boxing should go after a Pacquiao and Mayweather fight that seemed imminent. Couldn't have the new golden boy taking an L so soon in his television career. I always remember this fight as the moment I knew Canelo was going to be in spotlight for good.
