new dirt bike intro - Husaberg FX450
I still have a 2009 FE570 that I bought new 12 years ago! Best bike I have ever owned! Super reliable and a fantastic all rounder! Will never sell it! 😍
I've been looking for a FE570 for years.. l can't find one in Australia (very rare Down Under)
Anyone that has one thinks the same way as you.. LOL !😆
If l had one l wouldn't sell it either !
@@scottyd2262 i happened to have taken a trip to Australia a few years back and ended up doing half a days ride on an FE570 in Coffs Harbor that some one lent me. I was highly appreciative. What a bike!!! at the time i was used to riding an xr650l, so the 570 felt like a mountain bike in comparison with twice the power haha.
I’ve never seen this engine mounting before and I’ve just been down a rabbit hole because I’m fascinated by it.
it is very interesting, right?! it feels lighter since all the rotating mass is in different place compared to conventional engines.. felt quite nimble for 450
Great vid! I've had a 2011 FE30 (70 degree) for 3 years now. I live and ride in the mountains of Colorado and
I've never ridden a better off road bike! After adding Michelin MT43 tires, it hooks up on our rocky terrain like a champ. Plenty of power for 6' 3" 205 lb 70 year old geezer! At 3000 miles, I had a seal go out - no problem, easy, cheap fix (was a very slow oil leak). NO other issues at all - love this piece of machinery and it pulls like a moose at any RPM. - Ray, near Durango, CO
thanks for sharing Ray, they are really great machines! I would love to ride Colorado one day, you guys have some of the best trails out there
You are 70 and still ride off road? Damn, I hope I can be like you someday, Ray! Love it!
I live a couple of miles from where the original husaberg factory was. It was always a dream for me to ride a husaberg as a kid so i have started to collect all generetions of husaberg now :) this was a cool video:)
Husaberg won the Enduro world championship on its first year of making and selling the bike in 1989 . It was a 88 model but it wasnt massproduced then . Husaberg was the brand that made people understand that 4 strokes was the future back in the early 90:s . Joel Smith also dominated the MX 500 class on a Husaberg for many years when all the outhers was racing CR , KX , KTM 500 2 strokes. The name Husaberg comes from the name of the place were they started building it ( Husabergs Udde )
thats great info, thanks for sharing Christer!
Joel smets
This engine configuration has also been experimented with by BMW. Simply the best, it‘s a shame nobody uses it. Tilting the cylinder forward also means that you need less oil pressure to get the oil to the head (because you‘re not fighting gravity as much) leading to slightly more power. It‘s also easier to service the head because there‘s no tank or frame in the way.
Mention the airbox. Where ktm is gulping water , husaberg just swims by.
Believe me, the others bikes are enduro, the Zab is amphibious...
Shit! This video made me way more proud to know that there's one in my garage! Even though I'm from Finland and I should be hating on our neighbours, I gotta admit the Swedes made a pretty awesome bike!
;)
I should be hating on my neighbors, nice.
Don't hate your neighbor, hate your Government.
Love the design of the Husaberg, shame the brand was destroyed 🙁
I have a 2010 fe390 and although I'm having some wiring struggles...not Husaberg issues, just corrosion from bad care by previous owner...but I LOVE this bike! Great video!!
great bikes for sure!
One of the BEST dirt biker ever build.
Congrats.
thanks bro!
Very true
Nice vid, I have a 450 70 degree husaberg too!
Now on supermoto wheels and it's a great bike on the asphalt as well! Surprisingly it keeps up well with higher cc road bikes too!
Everything you touch or work on screems quality. Easy to work on for the most part and very little to replace or check actually.
Thanks for sharing bro!
What I learned was the radiator shrouds are shape like a battle axe head that is so cool 😎 did not know that at all
Gabriel Nessa hahaah that is super cool
Cool engine design i think
Petter V
These 70° engine bikes are known for being very reliable.
I still have friends with these models and with many hours of operation on them.
I just bougt the same one two months ago and iti is really awesome! man's bike!
What an awsome bike!! Too bad Husaberg was removed, one of the best brand of dirt bikes!
Beautiful bike Rado! Huge shoutout from Arizona! 🤙🏼
thanks Oswaldo!
Great bike with a wonderful history. 70 degree engine is sweet!
yes, great bike, very original.
It’s nice that from 2012-2016 are the same bikes (ktm husqy husa) good power plant. 2017 onwards is updated engine which like 0 vibration and the engines are amazing. Can’t wait for an upgrade :)))
specially 2 strokes, 2017 and up is great step forward.. its like no vibrations at all
Oh they did make MX bikes and won the World 500cc Championship in the 90s.
Husaberg won the FIM 500 cc Motocross World Championship with Belgian rider Joël Smets in 1995, 1997 and 1998.[13]
They also won 6 Enduro World Championships in 1990, 1991 (2), 1995, 1996 and 1998. Three more Junior Enduro World Championships followed in 2005/2006 by Joakim Ljunggren and in 2009 by Oriol Mena.
Awesome for such a short history.
very impressive record, they had great developers
Dirt N Iron Yes they did, even pre Husaberg days the Husky Enduro bikes were far superior to the Japanese bikes, the WRs were the gold std in the 80s as much as I liked the Japanese bikes in Enduro those same engineers knew what real performance was.
I am pretty sure also that Husaberg may have been the first GP World Title winner on a 4t since the 60s I am not 100% sure of the period but in modern era of that time the 90s 2t ruled, that said it was lack of development in the 500cc class that ultimately hurt the 2stroke not which technologies is better, but still an amazing vision, company and achievement, Joël Smets was also an amazing open class rider.
Another subject really but it highlights what a Husaberg did, something that really frustrates me with the Japanese they lack vision, great copiers and often improve things or they did, but not in the 4 t era, it’s ironic to me Honda believe they are the fourstrokes masters and maybe in road they have been, I am not so good in road bikes knowledge wise, but off road the Europeans have lead 4t era, while Honda shined brightest in the 2t era. Yet actually they never wanted to make 2t. They have some dedicated 2t engineers or did and some of the best.
But really everything we have now in the 4t era Husaberg we’re developing ore 2009 which is amazing to me.
@8:58 yep, the air filter is easy to get to. But getting to the throttle body and other engine stuff, you need to tear down half the bike, which is unfortunate. It was around twenty bolts or so.
Compared to a modern Husky, where you need to take out 7 bolts and you can start working on the engine in 10 minutes.
Some yellow riding gear would look sweet on that bike! Can't wait for you to take her out on the trails. You should take a trip to Northern California Forrest and do some riding!
I would love to ride different places, wish I have more time, I guess once kids get little older ;)
First thing i learned(and i would have been killed, for not my brand new AGV helmet), is the front is so skittish at speed...i came off flat out after hitting a compression on a farm track,i lay unconscious for i don't know how long, the engine was cool when i found my feet! Going over fallen trees,is far easier, tends to hit you in the face at first, compared to other bikes! FE390,and i love it!
sounds scary William, glad you are ok! thanks for sharing
Really looking forward to your first ride/review!! Enjoy that amazing bike!!
thanks Pete! coming soon!
The summer going into my senior year of highschool, I bought a brand new 2003 Husaberg Fe400E in the crate for $3200.
The previous year, my father bought a brand new in crate 2002 Fe470E.
right on! you did pretty good in high school ;)
@@dirtniron Thank you, Rado. The weird thing is that I hated the four-strokes from the second I bought it. The following traits were what I did not care for:
1.) It always felt too planted to the ground. Many people like this trait, but in Michigan single track where the sand changes depending on how God feels that day, I did not care for it.
2.) I would lose track of which gear I was in. I am very much a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear rider, but the four strokes exhaust note was something new to me. I was used to small 125-220cc two-strokes where you are always very aware of what gear you are in.
3.) Husabergs until the 2009-2011 models came out had a little stink bug feel to them. This is also true about many other European brands though. I feel like 25mm cut out of the subframe would have helped. Not everyone could notice this feeling, but as a person that is 5'6", I am always greatly aware of where the seat is.
During COVID, I bought a 2001 KTM 200EXC for $1000 and essentially copied your 250sx/300 build. The only real difference between our builds is that I upgraded my forks to 2019 WP AER48s that were from the Alta factory when they liquidated during their bankruptcy. I also updated my PDS shock to a 2007 250sx-f 5018 assembly because Jeremy Wilkey with MX-Tech said that was the best year for the PDS internals.
Oh, and I completed the conversion for it to look like a 2004.
You forgot to say that the filter position also allows to go deeper in the water because of it's position!
Awesome to see such a unique bike on the channel! Hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy watching your videos!!
thanks Joseph ;)
Very nice, I wish other companies would get it together. Congratulations from Northern Arizona, the land of dirt bike riding. Peace
yes, I wish other companies can follow what works good..
That's pretty awesome, there are so many KTM alternatives out there. Imagine all those bikes just sitting there waiting to be taken home.
Its hardly a KTM alternative if KTM is still the parent company supplying all the parts.
Sure it is, KTM may be the parent company but the bike doesn't appear to be a re-badged KTM.
Sherco makes excellent bikes.
What year again? The fact that it is a ktm motor is a relief for maintenance. Old berg motors are a nightmare to find parts for.
this is 2010, made in Austria.. should not be a problem to find parts
In in my opinion, the hostile takeover of Husqvana and the dumping of Husaberg was a nasty, aggressive business decision by the Orange monster.
Fantastic for their company sales simply by adding Husqvana stickers to their existing KTM models, but it alienated faithful fans of two brands who bought them BECAUSE they were different from the Austrian company.
This previous Husqvana owner now has a Sherco, and I love it 👌
yes, would have been better for us to have more to choose from
Dirt N Iron
My thoughts exactly.
Not all was lost, I'm in love with the French replacement.
Really happy for you mate, that’s an awesome bike, not being a die hard 4t guy, the Husaberg always struck a cord with me, there is almost something magical about this brand and these model 70 deg engine visions in particular, things which only a few companies are starting to incorporate now, which shows how far ahead of they’re time they were, Yamaha cooked there air box design I guess, some new coming with out a kickstarter, Beta, Sherco quick release seats etc etc list goes on. Amazing bikes and I am a die hard 2 pt guy that’s how much they impress me.
The fact they thought outside the box but executed the design so well as you say is a credit to what was the Husaberg division and engineers.
They also have a great sound so thanks for sharing that too just awesome
Also this is one of your best vids to date imo, really enjoyed this and informative but in a great natural but very professional way cheers. Looking forward to your videos with this bike in the coming future Rado, happy and safe trails.🤙
thanks brother, really appreciate the comment. Let me know if there is anything else you know about these bikes, always ready to learn something new ;)
one thing I found out and forgot to mention on the video is that KTM's slogan "ready to race" was original slogan of Husaberg, when they bought them in 95 they adopted the slogan and Husaberg changed their into "4 stroke force" and then into "pure enduro"
I always liked "ready to race" slogan, interesting to learn where it came from ;)
Dirt N Iron no worries mate, cheers I actually didn’t know that really the RR slogan, awesome 👍
The FE 390, 450 and 570 are the cross country bikes. They have the 18 inch rear wheel. The FX 450 is the motocross and endurocross version.
yes, FX is slightly different.. you wanted to say 18 inch, right?
No, FE are the enduro bikes. Fx were the xc bikes, stiffer suspension, no lights slightly livelier engine. There were no Mx bikes.
yes, FX is like KTM XC equivalent
MrCyphermonkey did they come with cursed chamber forks or just different calving and shim stacks?
@@MrCyphermonkey FC is Mx!
I have the 390 and wouldnt change it for anything! Greetings from Spain!
cool, thanks for sharing!
I owned a berg fs650e... Absolutely mental to ride
My dad is 100% Norwegian I’m around maybe 30% but I’m 55% Swedish and 15% German for my moms side and I obviously love Husqvarna motorcycles i wish they still made them in Sweden 🇸🇪 but they still make chainsaws and lawnmowers I’m fine with that and I’m glade KTM still supports Husqvarna and keeps there logo and heritage alive
Sound good Gabriel! you have great heritage too ;) real Scandinavian!
You have to hit the dunes. If you have never been you will be surprised how much fun it can be. I am far from glamis but ride dunes in Michigan a few times a year. Good times.
I will try it one day for sure, thanks for comment bro!
The 650 now that bike waz fun
Great bike. You have the MX version hence close ratio gears and no lighting.I got a fe 450 and I love it .
great bikes!
You've inspired me to buy my first enduro bike! Husaberg fe 501:)
Love te channel!
Greetings from The Netherlands
Thats cool bro, thanks! Greetings to Netherlands! ;)
@@dirtniron bro where do I get parts that are specifically for the bregs love the bike but im kind of worry on where to get the parts that are not KTM transmission pinions etc
@@luisgonzalez-po5qs join facebook husaberg groups, they have a lot of useful info there
@@dirtniron cool bro I will they are beautiful bikes it's a shame that they stop making them
it ain't weird !!! it's great and ingenious !!! AND beautiful too !
exactly! :)
Cool video.i like the thought behind the design and the front shrouds. Cant wait ti see how it rides!!
thanks Tom!
Best Enduro until 2020. I got the 450 too it is unbelievable Easy to ride. I wonder why this Engine is not going to the Years until 2020 in Ktms or husqvarna.
yea, I think production was too expensive and the interest too low.. i guess
@@dirtniron yeah maybe
I think Kawasaki have a patent that prevent other to use this design, can be wrong do.
I love your bike man,
I just got the FE 570 2012.
I’m thinking about doing the motard setup, but looking for websites that give me good stuff for the berg.
In Australia 🇦🇺.
thanks mate, I used to have 2012 fe570 for some time, great dual sport bike, very capable. I suggest to join facebook group "Husaberg 70 degree riders" a lot of knowledgeable guys there, they can help out and answer many questions as well. Congrats to your purchase!
Wow that bike is so unique with the engine and the gas tank. 😮
Cool bike, I spent a couple of days on one off-road at Highland Park in Georgia, the bike was a lot of fun to ride.
Cool man! What was it 450 or 570?
Dirt N Iron 450. They must be very reliable, KTM World has had one there as a rental for several years. The gearbox was noisy like a KTM, but it ran great and shifted fine.
sounds good Matt, that makes me very happy ;) my bike appears to have low hours and very decent riding, mostly family trips with kids.. so not really high rpm rippin.. I hope for couple hundreds hours without the rebuild. Thats like 2-3 years of decent riding.
One of the few that pronounce husqvarna right! Like a swedish dude like me
Im glad my country did someting good, sweden is pretty wierd after all. Great video👍
thanks Viktor!
Easily one of the best looking mx bikes ever made
exactly ;)
I’ve got a 09 fe450. Best bike I’ve ever had!
JeepinGerry thanks for sharing! I am more and more happy that I got this bike. I am hearing about guys having 500+ hours without engine rebuild. How many hours do you have on the bike?
Dirt N Iron mines done 125 hours and 3800kms. Just did a starting clutch on it. Besides that I’ve had no problems with it. Such a good bike.
Dirt N Iron done a fair bit of sand riding on it. It loves it
you have to remove the top enginemount or the engine will crack ...and dont ride it when its to hot outside then the tank will bend and start leaking around the pump hapend on my bike butt i still love it // fredrik from sweden
thanks Frederik, which mount is it exactly and what is the story behind? this is new info to me
that bike is amazing
thanks bro
They always made some trick and big fast thumpers 👍🏻
They used to have slogan " 4 stroke force"
Can't wait to see the riding vid, good choice by the way👍
thanks bro!
You have a great channel!
One question that is hanging in my mind...with the "laid down" cylinder, the vibration caused by the piston movement is in a different direction/plane than a vertical-travel piston. Do you notice a difference in vibration characteristics compared to the "traditional" KTM motor?
not really, it feels very smooth
very informative. Glad you are so happy with it!
thanks Jim!
It has me buggered why they made this 70 degree husaberg design obsolete, so many positives to this design, I think they will become a collectors item in the future if they already haven't!
yes, me too.. and I think they are already growing in the value
Powerful engine
I still have mine.😁
Awesome bike I have a 2003 FS650C
Can you get engine parts from KTM for the Husaberg FE570?
husaberg owners know their bikes are superior
Definitely a unique dirtbike
thats for sure ;)
Hi, there is an fe 390 husaberg for sale here in belgium for 2700 euros. I've done serious mx competition 15 years ago. I want to throw the endurostuff of the bike. And ride it at the mx tracksin italy. Is it a bad choice?
I was 23 years old then , 38years now. What do you think? Thanks. I allready rode my yz 2002 426f there and thanks to your help and tip 1.5 year ago it runs perfect. Thanks for your answer. Wouter
it can do MX track no problem but you would need to play with the suspension in order to take bigger jumps.. also the gearbox is not the best for MX.. if you only ride MX maybe consider getting straight MX bike, it would make more sense
Looks mint, great review
thanks brother!
I got one this year, I need that parts book!
look it up online, should be out there on the internet
Great bike!
I liked the informative video on the brand and this specific model (a bit long though but I watched it all :P )
thanks Nir!
yea i know its bit longer, I wanted to see how you guys react to it.. social experiment ;)
haha...we love your content so watching you 13 minutes is not a pain ;)
I'm waiting to see this bike in action.
Such a beautiful bike
thanks Johan!
You got a work of art.
thanks Ricky!
Dirt N Iron no problem dude, just remember to bike fast every day dude🤙
that is wild i love it !
Thanks Raymond!
We are waiting a trail ride with this baby :)
coming very soon ;)
Maybe yamaha should have tried that on there 450 mx cause it sure does not work like the 250.
when will you be getting footage of you riding the new bike?
very soon, working on something this week
Riding video is up, check it out bro!
Beautiful bike Rado
thanks Michael! congrats to your correct guess on the price ;)
I love that model
Really nice bike man, good choice ! / Sweden
thanks Nicholas!
If this engine had such an advantage in weight distribution, why doesn't everybody copy it?
I think bc it wasnt selling as well, it was weird looking and not industry standard.. many reasons.. not 100% sure
It's too bad Folan didn't hook up with a motorcycle co., we'd be riding Swedish water pumps.
Very nice bike man but it sounds kind of raspy when off the the throttle or is it just me?
thanks Joel. It makes interesting sound when off throttle, the other berg I had was doing the same sound, its not mechanical it just the sound the open exhaust does when you close the throttle.. nothing to worry about
Dirt N Iron a ok cool, enjoy brother!!!
the best enduro bike ever
cool, glad you see it that way!
yes i have fe450 09
how many hours so far ? how is the engine, any rebuilds?
310h i have change the piston cam-chain and cam bearings after 300h it just goes and goes
i have some helmet-cam movies on my channel im not verry fast but i have fun :)
Cool bike.
thanks bro
you have a very nice bike bro
thanks bro
You should please try and find a nice sherco. Maybe a 250 or 300 2T or a 450 4T
I would love to, there are not many of them for sale though..
Dirt N Iron yes they are a rare bike. Once you get on one I don't think you will want to get off!
These bikes are so special! I instantly fell in love with my 2008 husaberg fe450. Anyone know if my model is shaped like anything cool? Lmao
some viking weapon for sure ;)
@@dirtniron lmao nicccce!
Not the front, but the rear (over the exhaust) is either a spear tip or an arrow head.
Thanks for the videos Rado I wish we could go ride or do a meet up
Sure Sam, we can go riding sometimes. Where you from?
Dirt N Iron I am from the east coast so if you are around here or if I am near Cali we will ride trails or Moto track
yea, stay in touch bro
Better make cower plate side of fuel tank to prewent wear out and start leak.
oh really, you mean the one under the seat?
yes I have seen one leaking fuel tank, shoes rub against the side of the fuel tank and wear it so it starts leaking.
Thanks for letting me know
Do you still have the Berg?
No, sold long time ago. Cool bike
I'd own one of these if l could buy a new one 4 sure
yes, that would be cool
Before riding check your valve clearances.
do you have specs for it, or better the PDF manual?
thanks
that bike screams ikea XD
;)
Lmao "i got this fancy bag"
;)
The bag is sweet though, i would be siked too haha
yea, I was pretty pumped when I saw it, always wanted to get bag to my bike ;)
You mentioned glammis where are you at bro? Nice bike for sure
I live in Temecula area
Dirt N Iron nice man I'm stationed here in san diego.
do you ride here ? there are couple navy guys from San Diego who ride with me sometimes
Dirt N Iron Yes sir I do ride however I do not currently own a dirt bike since I sold mine when I moved out here from Virginia but I am looking into getting another one for myself and a starter bike for my son when I have the funding. Unfortunately that may be a little while since I retire from the military this month and will be going to school full time. But when my brother comes from Germany we will sometimes go rent one for the day.
Also let me know if you guys ever need anything while I don't have a bike yet I do have a jeep and a drone plus tools lol
I understand the engineers were losing their jobs. Husky was leaving Sweden. So They started Husaberg. Their home village.
Yes something like that. The name of village or town was Husaberg, hence the name. Pretty cool story ;)
Dirt N Iron I’ll refer you to Tom Webb and Karel Kramer of dirt rider fame. Tom ride a Husaberg. Claiming the right as being the editor of dirt rider magazine. Karel Kramer had the story....geeez that was a while back
There was a bit more to there story. The frame engineer raced him self. He asked the engine engineer if he could build him a motor, which he excepted. Parts were sourced to complete the bike. But... The upon turning up to a main race. They couldn't race with out a manufacturer name. And Husaberg was born.
A third member was brought in, and the company was born. In short.
Different but quality bike that.
thanks Robert!
When is the riding vid coming
riding is next :) and then bunch of the riding videos after
should be able to upload it midweek
I want to see it run, remember to do a wheelie
lets see what I can do, I am getting little better on this bike
I had a 1998 fe 501 enduro.
cool, how did you like it ?
I didnt get to ride but once than i needed some parts that were not available, but bike was as awasome as my current bike Husky fe501, racing in NMA off road points series. Im 50 and having a great time.
Cool.
Very informative.
#jealous
thanks Keith ;)
These bikes remind me of how Ducati does there engines, L twin motor.
exactly, its similar design
They moved it back but they also moved it up
Yes, it gets heavier when you need to lift the bike from laying on the side. That doesn't happen too often though
