    Have just pulled the trigger on a 125x for my daughter (mainly 😉) your vids helped me remember the appeal these bikes have. I had several 125s in my teenage yrs-early twenties. Now riding a 450fx (I'm 52) which has it's own brutal appeal. Now then next step would be complete the stable with a 250x one day. As much as I love the 450, these 2 strokes are fun and easier to maintain where I live in Africa.

    I am so sold on a yz X. Only debate for me at this point is 125, or the 250. I have dropped 30lbs so far down to 210 and once I relocate down to Florida there will be so many more options for riding cannot wait!!

    • @charlloock
      @charlloock Před 3 lety +3

      I have the YZ250X. I love it! It is easy to work on yourself, old but gold technology on it. More than enough power up top but still decent bottom end grunt for slow tech stuff. I have a traction disc as well which helps with riding the clutch. I rode my mates 125X and it is so light and nimble. It was loads of fun. If you are a hard rider that is going to do open desert tipe racing I would recommend the 250. But if you are only going to be doing slow tech and trails, the 125 would probably be more fun. If I had the money I would get myself the 125 as well. Either way, you are getting a Yamaha and they are reliable. Go check the 250 out on my channel if you want.

    Nice commentary. How did the bike handle big hills. Did you feel you were at a huge disadvantage on the 125 compared to other, larger bore bikes you’ve tested? Also, did you ride it in sand or loamy conditions. If so, how did it pull through the deep stuff? Thanks

    • @Bowstringdotcom
      @Bowstringdotcom Před 6 dny +1

      I’ve had the 250F and currently the 250X, the X is faster, no surprise, the two stroke makes more power. You can be lazier on it, and it has a much higher top speed if you’re connecting trails than the 250F does. It’s a blast everywhere, can be ridden slow or fast. A 125 typically needs to be singing to be in the fun factor, can’t bog around like a 250f or X can. But, if you want to improve technique, play, and ride full out and have a blast, a 125 is excellent, I’m 6’ and 220 with gear on. A 125 can’t leap from a corner like a 250, but it can take me around fine when it’s on the power

      @@dirtniron Well I pulled the trigger and bought one! It is a fantastic dirt bike! I got the Mikuni running pretty good. You know about that gasket for the jet block I assume. They all pretty much are no good, need replaced. I have a keihin stic on my 250. I might try that one on the 125. I modified the slide and raised the stock need to #3. Running a 40p, and 430mj. I will need to run a 37p, and a 420 main for my altitude. 5k. So far soo good let's give it some time. Thanks for your review on this bike. This is a very capable bike, but I think it is best served with an experienced rider, to keep it on the pipe, it handles like a dream.

      normal one is for motocross and the X is for cross country, same 1st and second gear but the rest is longer on the X and a couple engine mods + a kickstand on the X

      @@clutchalbader The gears are the same on the 125's. The 250x gets the wide ratio.

    I own the bike you are talking about, 125x and I love it but I would gladly pay the extra for electric start. That is the only change they need to make at this point. I ride trails and gncc, ixcr, mxcr, and I go down on big hills sometimes and I'm on the wrong side of the bike to kick start(it kick starts super easy) but i have to get it to a spot where i can kick start it. Electric start would solve so may problems, and I'll gladly take the 10 or 15 lbs that would add. Or add heat code recluse clutch. Problem solved

    best bike for the money . You don’t need a electric starter unless you are a cripple 🤔 125s don’t bog like 250s . Lighter too !

    It's funny, you would think that as big as motorcycling is in America, there are no American companies making 2-strokes to speak of. That's freaking shameful, even China is making them now. SMH
