  • The Yamaha Tricity 300 is the first one from Japan that you can ride with car license. Although it rides like a normal scooter, It's considered to be a trike and the extra-wheel gives you lot of confidence. We lived with the Tricity 300 with more than two weeks. Here's our isights.

    I’m getting one even though in Australia we need to get a motorcycle licence for these. Already copping judgment from motorcycle riders who think I should get a “proper” motorcycle instead of a scooter, and judgment from others because I want a 3 wheeler. I decided on this bike based on my needs, and am very excited to get it soon. The world would be a lot nicer if everyone just let everyone else get on with enjoying riding instead of gatekeeping and nitpicking.

      I have a Quadro QV3 , it is awesome.
      Super easy to just put the handbrake and step off.
      Lots of storage.
      Easy and stable ride.
      They are simply better than a two wheeler.
      The only thing i have noticed is when you want to avoid a hole or something else on the road, you will be tempted to steer so the obstacle will go between the front wheels, just to find out the rear wheel will hit it anyway 😂

    Thank you for this video!
    I'm doubting now. I want to get from point a to b as easily as possible. With the ability of parking anywhere. That's why I was thinking of getting a threewheeler. Is it better to get my motorcycle license and get a motorcycle? What do you recommend? I'm not an enthusiast of cars or motors. As I said, from point A to B ad easily and safely/comfortably as possible.

    • @sdarbha4270
      @sdarbha4270 Před rokem +1

      Motorbikes or 3-wheelers will get you point A to B, and let you park anywhere. They're mostly equal in those respects. Regardless of which one you buy, motorcycle training/license process is highly highly advisable (I think this video made that clear as well). Some people think a 3wheeler will balance automatically - No - The rider still needs to balance the 3wheeler! But 3wheelers greatly reduce the risk of losing balance or traction, that's all.
      Mostly comes down to personal preference - and cost (higher for 3wheelers on average). If you're not a habitual motorbike rider, then the added safety of 3wheelers makes them very compelling, I think. Some motorbike riders prefer 3wheelers when they approach retirement age. Best idea is to shortlist 1-2 motorbikes and a couple of 3wheelers, then go sit in them. There's no substitute for first-hand feel.

I will look at this trike when it’s time to change 80 miles per gallon, my bike is 55, luggage space so never carry your coat and helmet. Knee/ lap curtains available. The braking system, fantastic. This is a hands down winner considering the question you asked. I rarely go over 80 mph and and mostly travel at 60 mph. Good luck when you do get a trike

    This bike is perfect for anyone who has only a "B" license in Europe. It is totaly unfair that if you had your license in 1989 you are only alowed to drive a 125cc if you had your license in 1988 you could drive anything! This is once again political discrimination! A top speed "GPS" of about 130-135 is more than enough, even for motorways! I will trade my XMAX 125 in for this Tricity 300 next year. The only thing i could wish for is that yamaha put a reverse on it just like the Piaggio MP3 500. Great review! Oh and it saves you about 1200€ on a A2 license. So the difference is not that big anymore.

    I got the Mp3 500 Sport and by all reviews even the all postive ones about theTricity, mine is the better.
    As I see in this video the front moves up and down! One can belive that the road is causing it but some reviewers are honest about it, the Tricity front system works in that way, the Mp3 rides dead straight, the front system is far more advanced.
    In low speed this guy struggels in keeping the Tricity in line, the Tricity seems to be unbalanced!
    The Piaggio Mp3 is well balanced, there is simply no need in paddling with the feets and it is a dangerous behavior!
    Anything dangling outside the machine can snap in a matter of seconds!
    The engine, the Yamaha is severly underpowered, a sitting duck!
    Some will say that a smaller displacement is more suited for city driving, ehhh...well, driving a bike smothly and safe in the Big City is about zoom and boom! Rush our, you are reading the traffic, there is a opening and you are going for it on a whimpy wheezer, wee...eeeee! What could possibly go wrong?
    I in my turn are riding my Mp3 500cc just nodding the gas, wroomff I am in goal!
    The torque, grunt, a quicker and stonger throttle response will force the bike to go in the way I want it to go making it easy for me to manouver in tight places,, I never have to think about it I just drive.

    Thanks, great review. I called Yamaha Canada and unfortunately they yanked the TriCity (as well as Niken) out of the Canadian market due to poor sales. It may be the same for the USA, I'm not sure. The Piaggio MP3 is still available in Canada/USA - But it's not a big seller, by any stretch of the imagination. North America is heavily entrenched in car culture, and the minority who use motorbikes seem to fall into 2 categories - (1) Students commutting in sport bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja, (2) "Lifestyle bikers" in heavy touring machines like Harleys or Honda Goldwing. I know, I know, people will say "What about the CanAm" - Those machines seem far from regular 'bikes', as far as I'm concerned - They're almost like ATVs to me, to cruise the Rocky Mountains - I haven't seen many of them in Ontario, and I've been driving here for 35+ years.
    For now, there's very little traction for MP3/TriCity style 3-wheelers in Canada, which is a pity. Highways & roads in Toronto are jammed a good part of the day, and most cars have a SINGLE occupant - I'm guessing 3wheelers would make a strong case for many car drivers who think regular motorbikes are unsafe. The Canadian winter has something to do with it, of course, but places like the UK and Sweden have far higher acceptance of bikes despite similar cold and snow. Winter brings its own adjustments (such as snow tires for a car), so a family could manage with a single car for 3 months of winter - But the remaining 9months are quite fine for 3wheelers, I think - You don't need a car per family member (as people tend to think in this nook of the world) with the option of 3wheelers, I'm saying.

    Friendly warning: This is the worst 3-wheeler you can buy, it doesn't work in the way ALL the other sccoters in this category do: The front wheels locking mechanism does NOT lock the suspension, which means that the bike will be leaning to either direction and you will constantly need to keep balancing your body to hold it upright. It has other issues as well that I will not get into here.

    • @jeanross9163
      @jeanross9163 Před 2 lety

      The bike must be straight when locking or it will be hard to keep upright,I an19 stone and sometimes struggle to keep it upright,u get used to it but it will take you many months

    • @stevepelham9010
      @stevepelham9010 Před 2 lety

      No he can not! The Tricity will cruise in 90kmh. 100kmh is the real top speed, geting over 100kmh that is a hole in the bucket! Well some lucky day in downhill with the wind pushing in the back it might reach 130kmh.
