    I know all of the things that go wrong in your sewing projects are frustrating, but they are a great learning opportunity for the rest of us who are learning from you. Your problem solving skills and ability to articulate the "why" and the way you are going to solve those problems is so very helpful! Also, your tips are so helpful!

    The dress is beautiful Marie and so well made. I admired your ability to stay cheerful when you realised the hip was too small- that’s the point I usually throw it in a corner never to be dealt with again 😂. Yes we all have boxes of random sewing things hidden everywhere around the house. Out of interest, what do you do with your scrap fabric? Thank you for taking us along with your projects- I have learnt so much from you.

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Před rokem +2

      Thank you very much! I do put together a lot of scraps generally if it's big enough to make something out of and by make I mean like a small garment. If it's big enough to make a pair of shorts out of I keep it. If it's smaller than that I usually toss it. My life can become too overwhelmed with tiny scraps of fabric if I don't. Thank you so much for watching

    Your dress is lovely!! Nice fabric choices. I like all the tips and tricks you give your viewers.
    Your machines are beautiful. I've got 5 vintage machines. All but one are straight stitch. Various manufacturers from Singer to Nordic, to Necchi and Phoenix. They all sew amazing!! And they are super cheap to buy and maintain yourself. Everyone should have one lol. 😊

    It is indeed a very flattering dress. I agree with your discussion regarding invisible zippers; I also feel they seem less robust than the lap zippers. Once again enjoyed your trouble shooting for the back extension.

    Green is definitely your colour and the dress is the right length.
    Thumbs up for your solution of adding the extra bits to make up for the lack of fabric at the back of the skirt.

  • @lindak8664
    @lindak8664 Před rokem

    That turned out well. That pattern is much nicer than i thought when i first saw it. It looks very comfortable. I reckon i’d be pulling that over my head and wriggling it over my butt, bypassing the zipper completely. 😋
    I haven’t seen a pattern ask for a standard zipper for ages. Except pants, of course.

    Random stuff? I might be the queen?🤭 I did clean out both chests of drawers & 2 closets this fall, but then stalled out.😵‍💫
    Cute colored fabric. I thought this dress might be way too long unless you’re a 6 footer.🥴 I thought I recognized that light colored fabric. Nice to have a stash sometimes. 😉 Will the buttons you found be washer/dryer friendly? I don’t usually wash my regular clothing at really hot temperatures & only dry them slightly. I hang things on plastic hangers in the laundry room or my huge drying racks to dry completely.
    I had wondered about that hip area, having tried on many different styles of clothing over the years.😅Had difficulty with this type of dress in the past due to pear body shape.☺️
    Thanks for sharing your cool project.

      Good morning. Thank you so much and isn't it great that we can sew. We can make these styles that weren't intended to fit our shapes in the beginning fit well. I think that's the most fun. Thank you so much for watching

    It's super cute, Marie! 😍 What a pretty colour the green fabric is, and the buttons are a perfect match 👌 What I particularly admire about your sewing is your ability to figure things out and make them work, even if you don't have enough fabric or the pattern dimensions are not quite right for your body. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful videos 🙏

    Thanks for sharing the hip measurements. You are right, zero ease included and it’s almost like they forgot to add in the seam allowance as well. I found your video when I trying to decide if I should size up or not, and I did. Hopefully I’m happy with the fit! I had to do something similar around the hips on the dress I just finished and am trying to avoid that!

  • @Andyscrap
    @Andyscrap Před 8 měsíci

    This is a great video. I was just about to make a dress similar to this style and had all the same problems. Not enough fabric, didn't measure the hips and the bust. But with you giving such great ideas as to how to fix things, I'm gonna remove the dress from the 'needs fixing' pile and try again❤
    Maybe we can help you in advance when you show the next project for possible 'issues' with a pattern, on fb or instagram. Just an idea.
    Happy New Year to you Marie and all your loved oned❤

    I love the pen that you use for marking your stitch lines. I bought the purple fine point one from Joanns but it doesnt leave lines for very long or mark very easily. I'm used to it for now, and for the price, Im using it up, but when it runs out I'd rather get the same one you're using, it looks just like a regular pen.

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Před rokem +1

      Yeah the ones that I use, unfortunately Joanne does not sell you have to order online. But they're on eBay Amazon wawak, and fairly inexpensive which is good because the ink runs out quickly. I usually buy a pack that has like 54 refills in it.

    • @mgansworth78
      @mgansworth78 Před rokem

      @mybucoliclife I finally made this dress but mine was made with thin red lines type material, I believe you used the same fabric for a different project. The one thing I might change is how full the sleeve is at the wrist. It's just too puffy for me in that spot
