Get a SATA to usb cable, hook up to another computer, go to this pc thru the documents folder in the taskbar, then right click over this pc, and choose manage, choose, storage, then computer management. Here it will list the drives and a pop up should appear asking you to initiate the drive so you need to know whether you're going to use gpt or mbr formatting and this depends on if your bios is set up to utilize ntfs or uefi??? Once you know, initialize accordingly and then hover over the correct drive, right click again, and choose format. After that, you can now install the drive and it will be recognized and ready to take a windows installation.

Adding 16gb of RAM is definitely a good idea when it comes to Adobe products and video editing in general; however, keep in mind that the lag is caused by CPU not able to processes the video fast enough with effects added... @cobuman Ok, now to the next part with this exact computer or the like. New drive is installed now how do you get Windows on it and under boot change all and drive to C:/ to this ssd drive. Now I know many vids on this, but most are fast talk, no talk and just mouse or blair music. This vid and speed was nice. I just prdered 2 1tb Evo for these two laptops and will get this week. Problem is I never did this so I am at a stand still. Now I will say for myself nothing is on computer so I can just pull and install. Product key sticker shows Win 7 and this laptop is 10 pro. Paid of course and not hack. Many things I need to know like on media creation do I do win 7 or choose 10 pro and so on. You have a vid for all this after new drive install? I will ask also when it comes to ram is it put the card in and go or things have to be done to get it to work with computer? I'm understanding this exact computer is on DDR3 ram cards right?

@@Cobuman thanks. I have installed the Samsung Evo 500gb. I have got media creation tool and on boot seen the Windows 10 pro selection. I installed off usb and all is done and on Drive C:/. Went very smooth and fast. Wow the ssd vs hdd speed is fast. From power on to login is about 5 sec. Course nothing else is on computer but os. I did up the ram and I goofed on that. I had to learn the hard way and money wasted. So appears I myself missed the pc3 and pc3L thing on the ram. L being low voltage which this exact laptop takes and will not take a pc3 ram. So after that lick I have 2 8gb cards installed. Rest is history for the first time on all this. Next up in time I need to do my main laptop. It's a HP notebook 2000 4gb { caps out at a 8gb ) ram on AMD processor, Windows 10. 250 gb hdd which I got to rock back and forth all the time files to external due to space left about 34gb. I plan to just buy another 840 g1 prob i7 processor and clone to a 1tb. Which that should be fun being I never done. Clone old drive to new ssd that is. I have this old computer clogged with many things and many software's. I have two things I can't find info on and I been looking. 1. When clone of a old drive to new, will I loose all settings on new computer? I think I will because that is on memory on board correct? Settings as in say firewall under add and block internet connection to certain stuff etc? 2. Lets talk Windows 8.1 a sec. Microsoft says they no longer sell or have. Most anyone I talk with saying they don't have at local computer shop. I see no Windows 8.1 on this media creation tool thing. Where can I get that tool with it on it? Or the iso or whatever file it is to put on a usb to boot/ install on a drive? I need it. As in a good file not a questioned one like torrent file ect not knowing what all other goodies may be added.

With i5 it does good (1080p). With i7 it's faster while encoding the finished video.
If doing 4K videos I would add more RAM and SSD for sure. Without a lot of special effects added to video; the main thing that slows down processing of finished product is the quality/bit rate you specify it to be. So, 4K video can be 100mb bit rate and if you try to process it with any computer it will take a very long time depending on the video duration. You can always drop down to 45mb bit rate which is still very good for youtube and saves time. 1080p no problems though. :)
