I had to join the army when I was a young man.because I failed the entrance test for the Air Force . I still got my chance to fly in airplanes. Ended up in the parachute regiment.🇬🇧best job I’ve ever had.
I want to join the airforce in Slovenia it only has 39 PC-9 and it's pretty hard for a girl to get in, there was one woman pilot but all others were men so idk what to do
ajda babsek Just try, you maybe the 2nd one! Or you want to live your life with “idk what could have been IF” prepare well and go for it. good luck!
go on the regt
Thanks for your service good sir!
I’m looking to go in the paras myself been to the careers office done all my briefings and I was supposed to go to the assessment centre then PRAC but COVID19 stopped all that 😂 just got to wait for it all to blow over
Reasons not to join the US Army
1. Friendly fire.
2.danger close
Number 3 many are dumb asf
@Rosida Andriyana i don't trust those trees!
True im British
You’d be safer in the US army than on the streets over there tbh
Why join the US army when you can experience firefights in school

This needs renaming to "5 reasons why you will find army life difficult". I served 24 years in the UK Armed Forces from age 16 and entered with minimum qualifictions. I left with a Bachelors Degree in Technology, vast amount of experience, a second language studied at first year university level, and a handsome lump sum of cash with a pension at 40 years of age that just keeps going on (Kerching!!). Not to mention friends who I keep in touch with and meet up with now and again. Why did this happen? .......Opportunity and a nurtured competitive spirit. My neighbour from childhood days is now a UK Immigration legal officer and he joined the Police, then Army and was probably one of the first black cadets in both forces all those years ago. He lives in his crib in London and has made it becasue of ability and again opportunity. If you honestly think you can do better than what's going on at the moment, then join the UK Armed Forces.
hey just curious, how long does it take to gain a degree in the army?
@@westay4924 I did mine with the OU, but you can now join and be sponsored in your career to study. I was in the RN not rhe Army.
@@aldebaran9255 ye but how long
Do you think it’s still worth it in 2022.
The army is great until they ship you off to fight wars for the billionaires you will never meat. The last legit war was world war 2, after that every single troop that was sent to wars was total lies and that’s a fact.
British army has decent looking camouflage
Timothy Leighton and Americans just don’t blend in anywhere😂
@@joeisclever9225 especially the old uniforms with the acu camo pattern, that grey digital pattern. That shit might as well have glown in the dark. The newer camo is pretty decent just not as good as it should be because the multicam tries to be decent at everything rather than awesome at 1 which isnt really good
Timothy Leighton DPM was best
@@iamsoldierf8316 I do like that one. I'm partial to the ERDL camouflage. Its very similar just basically the American version
I think the marines can still iron creases into their bottoms, but not 100% sure on that one.

This ain’t true
Just about to complete 37 years in the British Army. Don't listen to whatever anyone says. Form your own opinion, be respectful and don't expect respect, earn it through your deeds. It's not for everyone and I can honestly say I have never encountered racism. Bullying I have encountered first hand when I was much younger, but it's not tolerated and help is always available. The vast majority of my Brother and Sister servicemen and women do not, I repeat WILL NOT stand for any form of bullying. Give it a go if your thinking about it... it's a great life for those who embrace it.
My biggest regret not joining the army!
@@letsallgetalong5499 was very lucky to leave with all my bits intact and healthy during some hectic decades. Loved every minute and met the most diverse people you can imagine. Was sad to leave but needed to do something else and decompress!! So now, i work for the military as a civilian..... Job done, winner.
My father served.... he loved it.
@@shep9231 Do you know what cap badge he was?
Man, if I could go back in time and join at 18 I would. I never knew what I wanted to do I did have a interest in the military. But at the time, women weren't allowed to be 'soliders' however, they were allowed in the army but it wasn't role's I was interested in and couldn't afford to give up my job at the time but something I may or may not have got accepted for. Now I'm a 30 single parent with a small child so will never have the chance, my son and his needs will always come first. But as I said, if I could go back, join at 18 and then have my son now to say I've done it, that would've been great 😂 but oh well, plod on I guess 😂
Thanks for you service and defending our country , good luck bro.
Excellent advice. Some people never learn this and as a result experience constant misery. I served 23 years and don't regret any of it. Keep up the good work!
I am happy for I was not so fortunate had really nasty people in my Reg just few they literally forced me out it was either death or Prison.
Matthew Dobbs what Corp where you in. Thinking about rmp just to keep it in the family tradition
Just giggling watching this.. I joined at 15.. we had racism, but no drugs no gambling and if you didn't work at getting fitter stronger etc you where in a world of pain. We got paid £10 a week £5 of which was held back for saving and kit and what money was left some had to go to the section Corporal who when pissed demanded money for more drink.
So it wasn't your fellow recruits you had to look out for but the bloody training staff lol
iuvenis animo
Then you could join at 15 which was the school leaving age. Trust me a lot has changed in the army, then it was normal to get a DMS boot in the ribs from an instructor, I have seen corporals kick recruits so hard they lost teeth. If you where Scottish you where called a jock bastard, Irish a paddy bastard Welsh a taff bastard. We where standing by our beds as usual, lockers open for inspection by one of the Officers. He asked me if I was a right footer? I said yes Sir. He said good i don't like left footers .. I thought this guy takes his football seriously. A few boys down the line he asked a Scottish soldier the same question, left footer Sir. He kneed him in his balls and as he lay on the ground writhing in pain he said I don't like left footers.. I only found out later a left footer was a catholic lol.
In those days you joined your Jnr Regiment and mine was an elite one so you trained and where treated as a man.
Good luck and don't worry things like that don't happen now, but work hard, don't stand out for all the wrong reasons, never steal, lie or cheat because you will be found out! But it's a great life and well worth doing. One other thing, keep your mouth shut and your ears open.
iuvenis animo
Trust me there are many more, but don't want to bore or scare you. But I will say how tough our physical training was, just to give you an idea. Every morning we would go for a 5 Mile run, during the runs we had to run over the top of an old WW2 bridge, made more difficult by the corporals jumping up and down on the middle beams, it was called confidence training but it did little for my confidence lol. Then bunny hops and carrying another soldier on your back. Then after breakfast into the gym where you where put through press ups, rope climbs, weight training etc oh and one little treat.. you would ly down in a row, the first soldier in the line would then run over each soldiers stomach. Then weapon training etc etc. You lost weight gained muscle and died each time you got into your pit (bed) Yes it was very tough and it was not much easier when on you joined adult service. ( I transferred to a different corps so had to go basic training again Groan) We had one Corporal who would lift you by your ears.. trust me it's painful. Our escape and evasion exercises had one get motivator, if you got caught you got a kicking lol I made sure of my skills and never got caught lol.
Yes the army IS different but if I could do it again I would
iuvenis animo
I was posted to RAF Gatow once for a few weeks. I had came back from a tour of NI ( Op Banner) the day before so when I walked into the RAF canteen dressed in a combat smock, flying trousers complete with knife and flying boots everyone stopped eating and looked at me. It was a sea of grey uniforms lol. But I have to say the RAF meals, accommodation etc was far superior to the army. They also had 6 bars on camp ( though I got barred from 5 of them lol)
I joined at 15 in 1961 ... £1 10shillings - we had to pay a shilling "barrack damages" and set aside some of the princely sum to "credits" (savings) for when we went on leave. Passed out into the regulars 17 and a half and got a massive £6 a week.... it was great only Aden was kicking off so all the rest of the world was peacekeeping until 1969 and then flaming Ireland. I was lucky and had a real "Soldier of the Sixties" experience.
U can join at 15!!😀
Some great advice there. Had to smile about the one about gambling. On a troop/equipment train to Soltau, three of the men in my compartment were looking for a fourth man to play poker. I could not play poker. Come on they said, "it's easy, we'll teach you." I was over the moon winning most of the first games. Then it happened. They took most of my money. Never again.
🤔
Attitude is one of the biggest issue and they come into the Army with it and create problem for themselves and Chain of Command. You hit the nail on the head again bro, great vid.

I joined the RAF aged nineteen as a trainee technician, little did I realise at the time just how much I would draw upon the knowledge and experience gained throughout my civilian life.
Robert Harrison are u still in the raf
Some of my core values that i have and learned in my time in the British Army that i hold to this day.
That was a succinct and relatable presentation. My only criticism: the omission of personal fitness, PRIOR to joining. I served in the 80s and it was made clear, at selection, that running was key. Four months prior to joining, I worked up to running 4 miles to work, each day (the final 2 months in army boots I'd acquired); this (for me) took the shock out of the initial weeks of PT. Happy Days :)
Daniel WOODRUFFE: I suppose it depends on which branch of the army you want to join. If you plan to join the infantry, especially elite units like the paras or marines, then physical fitness will be more important than some other qualities (for example, technical and / or mechanical skills).......however all soldiers will need to have a minimum fitness level so the more you have, the better it will be for you.
@@paganphil100 I concur; it was my recollection of the first 8-9 weeks, when recruits were falling by the wayside (literally): in the Gym, on the obstacle courses and especially when on runs.
Yep, did you have to go to Sutton Coldfield before joining? Think they got rid of that a while ago.

Great video. I joined as a junior leader but was MD out and regret not at least making a bigger stink about that decision. Many young people join the army and it helps shape the remainder of their life for the good, even if they only do a short term. My father served 13 or 14 years and my best mate served 12 with the RIR. My daughter is getting married to a Jock from the 4 Scots.
Keep up the good work brother 💪🏼
I've suffered for three years with severe "mjental health" issues. Severe scarification and self harm. For the most part recently, I have been training, reading, training, reading and valuing my self and my potential. However; my biggest fear is that when I do decide to move forward into the army to develop all the skills (combative and non combative) that they teach you, that they will decline by application. Is there a general way of judging those with such history, or do they judge you on the merit of your character and how many years you have been devoid of any self harm?
Seriously, if you have mental health issues on civvy street, how do expect to cope with military life, which is potentially far more arduous?
You are not allowed to join the army with a history of self harm, depression ect. Its part of your medical history and records.
@@liverpoolscottish6430 A lot, lot better of course these days. And I think the growth of aforementioned "illnesses" may and underlining MAY have had something to do with leading a very restricted life in some senses. It's not stressful situations that led me to harm, anyway. It was never caused by an unfocussed, hysterical state. A very different kind of self harm. But it's irrelevant now as I'm moving forward with each sunrise.
Joining the military had simply always been one of my desires even as a young boy.
#3 suprised me. I wasn't a gambler when I first joined, but I slowly started getting sucked into the fruit machines on camp, then before I knew it I was spending my "millionaires" weekends at the casinos nearby, then surviving the rest of the month with as little as £100. Of course there were some ups, but mostly downs as with all gambling!
Going to Pirbright on Sunday so this channel is a gift to me
Good luck. Train hard, work hard, best job in the world.
I joined the TA back in the early eighties to earn some money while I was going through College and with a view to join the regulars. Never quite got round to joining the regulars, had a tiny attitude problem but stayed in the reserves for over 30 years. Army then latter (as I got older) RAF. One of the better decisions in my life. Only stopped doing it because I stopped enjoying it. That 'attitude' problem finally caught up with me. Brilliant video.
The beginning of this vid reminds me so much of casey neistat vids
During my time at Sir John Moore, I saw people with attitude loose it in the 1st week of basic training. For the other things there is the CDRILLS.

1. Attitude is good. But it has to be the right attitude. 2. Fitness is linked to attitude. Fit to fight is the best attitude. 3. Agree with three. I've been wondering, do you run the bleep test as soon as you apply or is it after few days/weeks of training?
I’ve watched loads of videos and people have said it’s when they go for their interview because the health and fitness tests are a part of that

Re apply, go to your doctors. And ask them to Wright you a letter. Saying it was not depression but anxiety. Big big diffrance and it was due to lack of work that got you down, and Bill's goin out etc. And if you dont want to do that. Apply again and when asked if you previously applied or are ex forces the answere is nope. Give a diffrent addres to previous. And when asked if you have suffered with depression the answere is again you guessed a big nope. Now it's up to capita to check your back ground out. They dont check every single person. Everyone has a bit of anxiety now and then. The doctors just put it down as depression on papers and it ruines youngsters lives. Society has bread anxiety the government need to get a grip of this and realise what its created. As its ruining youngsters lives. If people dont get help then they suffer. And because they get help they suffer again when they want a job in the millitery. They created the name ADHD, in my day I was a twat was doped up in medication for being a twat. It's simply not fair. So why not bend rules. What. Are they goin to do, send you to prison because you want to serve your country. Bend the rules mate think about your self life is a game you be player number 1.

5th point ....it Doesn't mean it doesn't exist ...
Nat Nice which is what he said in the video ??
Glen said it all at 6.43. I joined up with this fella at the Guards Depot and he has gone on to become an exemplary soldier. Listen to him.

Also don't join if your not willing to do your duty,. And then be pissed on from a great height by the Government of the day when the political wind changes!!!!

There racist but I’m still joining lol
Just go for the marines they are so much better and probably more professional due to the specific nature of what they do.
fresh frozen I don’t think we are racist mate, maybe up the ladder it’ll be there but I have nothing but respect for people who want to serve their one time oppressor
Im quite young and still in cadets anything you can recommend for a regiment for a young person such as myself?
I am considering joining the army air corps because I want to fly heli's (for anyone that is in the AAC, am I correct when saying that you are able to fly helicopters one day even if you start out as a ground crew specialist? cuz if not then there really is no point for me in going to the British army)
one tiny problem: I am not British, and the army, from what I understand, doesn't accept commonwealth citizens anymore. If that is changed in the future, then I will probably enlist.
I bet coming from the streets Attitude must be the hardest thing to control :)
My whole families been raised in N Ireland and all joined the British army does that count?
Entitlement attitude is defiantly up there as the worse
I came into the army with a great attitude, following every instruction, lisrening to my superiors. I actually enjoyed phase 1 and two training, and ny first year in the army was epic. Then one day, I met a warrant officer, or two, who were absolute dickheads with their ranks and called themselves, "old school" as an excuse to bully and treat others below them with they type of disrespect you wouldn't even inflict on your worst enemy.
Since then I have a very hard time taking things with a pinch of salt and have developed a very defensive attitude that's really not easy to break. I've been in and out of the med centre with mental health issues, I have a difficult time keeping relationships healthy, I struggle to sleep sometimes. This has been going on for years. So yeah, cheers for that British Army.
Its not for the weak mate. Go be a cleaner or something. Met a few like you who blame everything on everybody else. Take ownership and get a grip... 👍
@@craphat1873 karma will course it's way through your veins and effect your loved ones too. Your a foul human being that needs to learn a bit of respect. Especially to someone who's mentally ill from the military. Your are a fool, id love you get my hands on you. I bet you'd cry and squeal because your just a sad keyboard warrior
@@craphat1873What a ridiculous response you gave to him. You make it sound as if bullying is an acceptable and honourable behaviour within the military. That’s very obtuse from your end and completely narrow-minded.
@@bfe2023 You going to have to deal with asshole bullies everywhere you go. Just have to have a thicker skin than them and not allow them to get to you.
Hey I am from fiji and I am willing to join the force but have a problem . The problem is that I don't have a sponsors . Can you help me out plizzzz .
Hey, I wanna join the army when I’m older. I’m not a fast runner or incredibly fit but anyone can change right? Anyway I would like to join so... any advice (I’m 13 and I train for an hour a week at a public gym) could I get in?
Anyone can change, all it takes is hard work and determination! You need to run more (moderate pace long distance and incorporate hill reps). At your age/for the start exercises with own bodyweight: push ups, pull ups, sit ups (all variations) and squats (make sure to do them with the right technique though). One hour per week is not sufficient though, you need to invest more time and you don't need gym for that. You've got plenty of time to prepare yourself👍
I am form nepal and willing to jion british army this video encourage me to do so.Thank you

I am 9 years old and a girl, my mum says to not join anything to do with guns but i think i would do good in the navy, air force or the army, tI have to do at least 13 push ups, and 43 sit ups to join. Please tell me if this is the right thing to do.

I'm a Muslim who was born and raised in the UK and would love to join the army. What's your honest experience with religions and what is a good height for a soldier. I'm around 185cm I think like 6'1
