Did my basic training at Pirbright then the guards depot in the 80,s and it was just one long beasting from morning till night, we were knackered before PT lessons because our instructors used to beast us on the way to the gym and on the way back , no wonder then that so many fell by the wayside . Today I think it is a more gentle introduction and the instructors actually talk to you with respect not like in the old days when they didn't give a shit if you jacked . Now these are the kind of videos I've been looking for. I am aiming to join the infantry by this time next year and am joining the gym. Even when my work has been physically exhausting, I will still go to the gym after to push my body to the max. I may be a female so the requirements are slightly lower, but I don't settle for a pass, only for excellence. Now I know more specifically what kinds of tests there are, I can test myself already to know what progress is being made. As my ex-raf tutor once taught us at college, never stop pushing yourself, even when you're out of breath and nauseous, and you'll excel

tbf Sean we were only allowed into infantry this time last year, UK was very much behind in letting woman join and I had given up trying to fight sexist people within the forces that insisted we were too weak and having us join would make the team weak (clearly never been where I currently work, we're pretty strong and great at teamwork). But I do love people's reactions, like how dare we join the fight to protect queen and country and protect other countries xD

@@georgiamuir9477 3K regularly is a good start. The army selection test is a mile and half so that is a similar distance. I'd carry on what you are doing. Don't do too much or you might stop in a few weeks. I find doing less but sustaining it over years is more rewarding because lets be honest, it can be boring and if you do too much you might stop. Throw in exercises like squats and do a longer run every so often. Joining the army cadets might be a decent shout as well for some basic experience
