    Thank you for this video. Being able to see the flex I suspected it would cause under braking has helped me to make the right decision for me which is to go without a slider.

  •  Před 2 lety +6

    The devil is in the details. Good details.
    Flex is always the compromise with any seat, wheel or pedal rails. We started hard mounting most of our seats/pedals/wheels with our customers. Hard mounting the seat also helps feel more of motion systems as the seat rails are typically very flimsy and absorb lots of tactile feedback.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      Hmm interesting point. I think though that the convenience of seat and pedals sliders is too high for me to direct-mount them, even with the motion systems. Let's see if you guys can change my mind about that. Could be the topic of a video at some point too ;)

  • @broodro0ster
    @broodro0ster Před 2 lety +1

    I have this setup with sprints and I just mount the throttle pedal with the front screws so I can slide forwards/backwards. Since this pedal doesn't need a lot of force, 2 bolts are fine.

    Does anyone know if this slider is compatible with the Next Level Racing GT Track? I am using the Fanatec Clubsport V3 pedals. My little boy likes to try too but the pedal mounting option is limited on the GT Track as standard (basically have to undo and redo 4 bolts any time I want to move the pedal tray). A slider would be *really* helpful.

  • @mrb552
    @mrb552 Před 2 lety +1

    I have the same exact pedal setup and configuration. Can't say I notice any flex when driving. I only have the Sprint brake set to about 45kg. For some reason I have to press the bar down to get the sliders to move. I must have put the them in backwards somehow. Not a big deal though. Great setup overall.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      you can mount them in different ways. As long as the bar doesnt get in your way it's all fine :)

    Can I use the heel rest without the baseplate? Ie mount it directly to my simlab gt1 evo?

  • @willrichardson2482
    @willrichardson2482 Před rokem

    Hi. Really good and informative review. Like the way you have mounted the slider handle towards you opposed to simlab manual that mounts to the rea, making adjustments a bit more awkward.
    I noticed you didn't mount the sprint pedals in the slots the sim lab manual states? Surely if you'd used those instead it would give lateral and longitudinal adjustments. If you still check this would much appreciate getting back as this is a deciding factor in me purchasing these. Thanks.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před rokem

      I think they may have changed the layout of their pedal plates a little bit every now and then, and together with the heel rest this was the only way of mounting it with my version.

  • @jarrodclyne707
    @jarrodclyne707 Před rokem +1

    Adjustability is worth that tiny amount of flex I think. Adjusting the pedal base plate manually is such a hassle.

  • @davidtaylor8172

    I have my sprint pedals rigidly mounted to my GT2 Evo baseplate. I would love someone to produce a side to side slider so I could heel and toe and then change the position for GT cars. I've only ever seen home made solutions, which is a pity.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety

      really interesting idea! I have my pedals mounted a bit off to the left so that the brake pedal is slightly left of center. I think it's a decent compromise for both.

  • @danielhass4812
    @danielhass4812 Před 2 lety +1

    Idk if it’s worth it to not be able to move the Sprint pedals longitudinally. If a friend comes over to use the rig, moving the seat forward or backward should be enough to get a decent enough fit for them

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      but then your steering wheel is potentially in a wrong position, and with large differences in height it can becomoe quite a challenge to make it fit.

    Does this slider remove entirely from the base by sliding out? I'm curious because I'm going to be dual-purposing my P1-X for flight and racing. I'd like to be able to buy two sliders, and just remove the part that the pedals are attached to and be able to swap between my flight rudder pedals and my racing pedals.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před rokem +1

      no, there's an end to it, doesn't come apart. this is a standard car seat slider. imagine those just came off at the end of the range ;-) you're gonna have to look for something different.

    I don't know if you do review requests, but I would love to hear your opinion on the Samsung monitor you are using. :)

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      I have been thinking about that. Problem is I can only drive it at 120Hz due to my GPU (1070 and not willing to upgrade in the current market), so I don't really know how useful I find 240Hz for sim racing. I Also can't exploit any HDR. So all I could do would be an opinion video, and I'm more focused on motion rigs at the moment.
      But to give you an idea of why I bought it: It's the widest FOV possible with a single screen at the moment (due to the 1000R curve & possibility of mounting it very close behind the wheel), and the resolution is high enough even at my close viewing distance. I wanted a single screen to save space in my new apartment, and was anticipating the use of a motion solution (I want the screen to move with the rig). The 240 Hz is nice to have for the future, the image quality is good (vibrant colors without looking unnatural), but those weren't super important to me. I think it's the best screen available for my use case, but for others it might not be ideal (vertical FOV is very limited compared to a large TV, horizontal FOV not as wide as most triple-screen solutions, consoles don't output in 32:9). So yeah, it's always a compromise. So far I don't have any complaints, didn't come across any unexpected issues. It gets my recommendation if your use-case doesn't rule it out ;-)

      @Tomas2006 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheSimChannel Hey man, thanks for your quick and extensive reply! And thanks for sharing your thought process when choosing which monitor to go for. I guess our use-cases are quite similar. I have a smallish room in my apartment which I use as my work-from-home-office. I'm going to fit the rig in there (I ordered the P1X). Now I'm trying to figure out if I should go with triples or the Samsung ultrawide. I could do the 27 inch x3 setup, but I would have to re-arrange the room a bit to create some more space. The 49" ultrawide is better for multiple reasons, but when I read about the FOV it scares me a little bit...but I guess you can't really go wrong with either option.

    I'm installing mine now and it's worse than installing a normal seat slider on a chair because you can't get your hand to slide the slider bracket easily with the p1x pedal plates in the way. I have the slider now, it's engaging, but it won't slide. I'm hating this thing already.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 5 měsíci

      I'm not sure I follow. The handle for the slider sticks out far and wide in my direction on mine. You may be able to resolve the situation by flipping over the handle so it bends down instead of up?

    IRL just the seat can slide. So, I find this Pedal Slider useless. I have the same cockpit and once everything is in place, we don't touch it anymore.

    • @TheSimChannel
      @TheSimChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      IRL you typically have adjustable steering wheels or you adjust the distance between steering wheel and pedals in some other way. Since most sim rigs have the steering wheel position fixed it makes a lot of sense to have the pedals adjustable if you (a) have different depth steering wheels or (b) have friends / famil with different proportions using the same rig. If that's not the case there's obviously no real need for adjustable pedals.
