    Yes, WOTC has come out to say that shrine is an enchantment subtype, not a creature type, and I assume that the same for equipment and artifacts, not creatures. So the references and synergy mentioned in this video to those as creature types are incorrect. CV, maybe worth a note or edit.

    @GFreeGamer Před 2 lety +14

    Equipment are artifact subtypes, you can't choose that with when effects have you choose a type.

  • @methmeth
    @methmeth Před 2 lety +13

    Unfortunately Equipment is not a creature type but an Artifact type same as how Shrines is an Enchantment type. So changelings aren't equipment or shrines.

    In my opinion, I think light-paws, emperor’s voice is the new best commander from neon dynasty. With cards like ethereal armor and all that glitters, you can get insane power and win of commander damage. It could also be hard to remove because of auras that give indestructible or protection

      @gundambanshii9735 Před 2 lety

      I could use that creature in the 99 for my Siona deck, so that I can play any 3 drop aura to tutor for the wincon Shielded by Faith

      The problem the mono white restriction, light paws is an awesome payoff in the 99 of a lot of 99s though so I think she's definitely one of the best commander cards from this set though. Definitely a fun mono white commander with a fresh approach though

      Depends on your definition of 'best'. Hinata and reality chip seem the strongest/most broken

    May also want to note that besides equipment and auras, modified includes creatures with counters, like +1/+1 counters, an archetype green already leans heavy in.

  • @CommanderVoid
    @CommanderVoid  Před 2 lety +6

    I did make an honest mistake when it came to assuming Equipments and especially Shrines were now creature types.
    In my opinion though I could see wotc backpedaling and changing the shrine ruling since it makes absolutely no sense. They’re creatures with no type if they can’t borrow the subtype.
    No, I’m not taking the video down because the misconception doesn’t negate the reason why I spoke about the chosen cards. Thank you!

    • @bolosandninjarolls
      @bolosandninjarolls Před 2 lety +1

      You also forgot to mention that counters, including +1/+1 counters, also make a creature modified. Kodama of the West Tree is perfect for +1/+1 counter decks.

  • @ashfield4313
    @ashfield4313 Před 2 lety +1

    Modifications also include counters, not just auras & equipment. That means you can easily make a landfall/counters/ramp deck with Kodama as the commander that gets absolutely nuts since monogreen counters is a theme that's pretty old and not *all* that supported anymore, but when it was being pushed we ended up with cards like Avatar of the Resolute, Predator Ooze, Hardened Scales, Hydras etc.

    I like the equipment creatures because they can have other abilities that most creatures wouldn’t have, like reinforced ronin. It also allows for cards the require equipment to be more versatile, and not requiring the deck to be build around those. I also love the solo creatures attacking thing, it makes red/white now play almost like a green black, buffing specific creatures to be really powerful, but being non permanent buffs allows for some flexibility (e.x. instead of buffing you 4/3 to a 6/5, to do some heavy hitting, you buff your 2/2 w/ lifelink to heal you up some.) but then at the end of the day you also still get a swarm of cheaper creatures. You can either go in for one big solo attack or overwhelm them with hordes of creatures. It can play like a green or black deck, but but it still retains the fast-paced feel or red or white decks I’ve always been a boros kind of guy but this set may make red-white my new Friday night mtg deck. They also did the futuristic setting perfectly, something that I feel the next set didn’t do nearly as well.

    FYI, Shrines are an enchantment type, not a creature type. The Shrine creatures actually have no creature type themselves. Changelings will not count toward your Shrines.

    All the comments about the shrines and equipment subtypes aside, amazing video! I'm glad you showed all the different fun commanders because I hadn't even seen them all and I genuinely think this is one of my new favorite sets because it feels so diverse. All the different mechanics given support and new fun directions for deck building. The design for so many of these cards feels new and exciting but not clunky or overdone. I can't decide on which one of these commanders to pick to make a new deck around because they all seem so fun!!

    Isn't equipment just an artifact subtype? All reconfigure equipment creatures are artifacts. I'm not sure you can name "equipment" when naming a creature.

    Did everyone forget about Sanctum of All? I keep hearing “we can finally make the shrine deck”.
    Don’t get me wrong, Go-Shintai is WAY more badass, but Sanctum is still great. People I think forgot about it mostly because we still only had a handful of shrines.

    • @coopertolbertsmith6067
      @coopertolbertsmith6067 Před 2 lety +1

      Well, sanctum of all also isn’t a creature, so it couldn’t be your commander unless you got the ok from your playgroup or something.

      @@poofypeanut0221 Yeah, I remember being sort of disappointed that it wasn’t one when it came out! I’m pretty sure it’s just a legendary enchantment, though what I kind of alluded to earlier, you could probably still build a deck around it if you have a nice enough playgroup. There still being only like 10 shrines at the time probably didn’t incentivize too many to do that though.😆

    You got both equipment and shrines as creature types wrong, maybe this was pre recorded but if not at this point the clarification made enough buzz that a MtG CZcamsr should know about it lmao

    Unfortunately, much of this vid loses credibility since the premise of "equipment" and "shrines" being creature types is false (which has been confirmed by WotC). Commander Void needs to be a bit better informed. Sorry for the criticism here, but it had to be said.

    Maybe its me being an old grumpi grump, but most cards feel so booring and uninspired. Imo the best and coolest card to build something around is isshin, cause you can build him attack goes brrr, but also something like "hyper pillarford" with goat, give me ogres, pay life/mana if attack me and so on. All other things are mostly yeah lets add more text to hide we do the same things again but worse.
