  • This is part 2 of repairing a broken Philips Sonicare Toothbrush.
I remove the inner component of the electric toothbrush.
I use a monkey wrench to squeeze the casing at the base and it opens it wide enough to spread the inner locking tabs away from the external casing which prevent the inner component from sliding out.
The toothbrush motor has stopped working. The battery and button seem to be fine. It also charges without any issue. Just the motor doesn't want to power anymore.
Locking Pliers (what I mistakenly called a monkey wrench)

So far the video that shows best how to deal with the locking tabs. Good job with the camera and lighting!

WOW! Can't thank you enough! Mine was making horrendous noises after being dropped so I opened it up to find a little metal bracket and screw totally out just floating around inside. Figured out where they went and then put a drop of crazy glue on the screw and put it back together. Works like new and back to being quiet :)

If you call that a monkey wrench one more time I’m gonna lose my mind

Two of the 3 we have are buzzing and weak cleaning. Thanks for this video. Should be a class action lawsuit against the way these are put together.

Figured out a trick with those tabs and I can't even believe it. Actually, if you try to push down on the tabs it doesn't really work, but if you position your tiny flathead on above or below (not against the wall or motor) it just pops right out! I messed with this thing forever and was so frustrated, I cant believe it was just pressing on either side of them. You dont even have to squeeze it! Lesson learned!

First video not a big help. Second video was exactly what I was looking for. I streaked the clips with the Connor of my small screw driver and popped right out. My problem was a terrible buzzing. The metal post that the tooth brush attaches to did was loose. I pulled the screw, applied blue lock tight to the threads on the screw and reassembled. Problem gone!

What helped me was squeezing the corners one side at a time while applying pressure on the tip to pop the insides out.

We bought new ones and I am planning to take apart the old ones and I want to remove the vibration thing from each one. Then I want to hook about a 5 volt power supply up to it and make some sort of Sonic cleaner for small parts and jewelry. I figure if I can combine two of them it should be powerful enough to work.

What's the name of those small metal switches that serve as buttons? I lost one on my hx8910 and I am searching for a replacement (I was thinking about 2 pin switches for electric motherboards).

It's probably been tossed out by now, though my money would be on a cracked solder joint going to the oscillator, though the ones on the board look good. It vibrates and if not siliconed down, leads will break. Especially with lead free solder.

Is the motor replaceable? I have the same problem.

motor is replaceable, but your problem might not be the motor. I cant tell. I replaced my motor but that wasn't the problem. My problem was related to the circuit board, I think, I don't really know, nothing I tried worked, so I just gave up and threw it away.

Ours are white, I really like that black handle better. Ours are not the exact same model but they are the same brand and look similar.
