  • Here's my original piano composition called "Depression" dedicated to those of us struggling with this illness. Depression is a common, serious illness and not a personal weakness. Music therapy can improve symptoms of depression, with those undergoing music therapy along with standard treatments for depression - such as talking therapy - improving more than people who only received standard therapy.

Thank you for this Michael. I have depressive episodes from time to time. So much so that music doesn't help me through these times. I think, playing happy music doesn't make you feel better. It's okay to stay true to your feelings of the moment and not deny them. Take care..

What a powerful piece and topic that takes much courage to share and to live out on the daily. Another beautiful composition. Sending courage for each moment.

Michael you have superb fingers and hands. One of the world's greatest pianists was Vladimir Horowitz - he had remarkable fingers like yours. he could play Chopin with totally flat fingers and hands - what a gift - you have the gift too Michael,

A very moving performance, Michael. I believe you have captured the essence of how it feels to be depressed . Michael, you have a wonderful depth of understanding and ability to transfer that into music. You are an artist who paints his pictures into musical compositions. My friend, thank you.

The higher note seem to lift you out of dark places - you can overcome depression - my doctor told me I would be on anti depressants for the rest of my life - I have been off them for over 5 years. You can overcome it- music helps a lot.

@@pardonmypiano You are so right Michael. Exercise - walking and looking at gardens but also taking time to stop and sit alone - to pray and meditate and you will feel a different man. Peace and blessings upon you - we Michael's support each other.

I've been on a very long journey myself. Misdiagnosed many times, trialed on many different medications. I have only recently been informed that my mental illness is not curable with medication. I have personality disorders which can be very challenging to treat. I have suffered through the lowest of lows and embraced the highest of highs. Music has helped me so much on my journey through early adolescence. I am 14 and still quite young but I'm trying to correct my rigid thought patterns so I won't be like this as an adult.
