The Emery DC-8 looks like it came from Hawaiian Airlines. Love seeing all these classic jetliners. So much variety compared to today's cookie-cutter, twins on the wings, every plane looks the same. Thanks for the video my friend, great stuff!👍

Well said. The "cookie-cutter" twinjet monotony of today is boring to the point of sleep-inducing compared to this.

Hi John I have watched all of your videos and may I just say what an absolute pleasure it was buddy !! I was off work recovering from an illness at the time and they really cheered me up what a thrill to see the old livery's and old forgotten L10-11 of Caledonian and Air Canada not to mention Britannia Airways fantastic old Livery and our beloved Monarch and the BAC 1-11 just WOW !! Thank you so much for sharing these truly remarkable videos I loved them and brought back so many memories and I think it's fair to say they don't make them like this anymore LOL Thanks again buddy regards Tim.

Nice footage of old school airliners, BAC 111s, Avro 748s in the background, the re-engined DC8, and rarest of all the Air Bridge cargo Vickers Merchantman, that was very nostalgic John thanks.

Nice video. At least back then, Monarch was still operating. Hard to believe, that Monarch was operated 1 year ago.

0:45 Britannia airlines then became Thomsonfly and air 2000 became first choice and they merged together to become Thomson
And now tui is now the new plane operated after taking over Thomson franchise
And as for first choice that airliner is gone

Those little BAC 111s were incredibly noisy inside, they were usually the Ringway to Heathrow shuttle to catch a connecting flight.😬

Was that May 1989?I flew Air 2000 as a kid to Florida, May 1989 and Im sure i remember an Air 2000 737-300 parked on stand 6 thinking, oh I didn’t know Air 2000 had a 737 as-well and thankful we did fly on a 757 lol And the service then to Florida was amazing with metal cutlery, real napkins and fabulous professional stewardesses and stewards.. and a TV showing the movie “Twins” with Arnie and Dani lol

Great to see those bygone Airlines l used to live not too far from airport. Most weekends l would walk there from home, pay to go through turnstiles on the roof pier terraces. Up close and personal back then no airbridges then, passengers walked on tarmac to their planes.

This was just before general riff raff were allowed to fly , hard working families could just about afford it , O`leary and his business model spoiled it all , for the decent passengers, for the crew and for the industry . In those days you wouldnt expect to be sat next to some tattooed scroat effing and jeffing and causing a nuisance with no ability to moderate their behaviour and thats just the women :-(
