That’s horrible that Anyone would judge another mother for how long they breast-feed or any parenting choice!
I would love on extended BF!
So true Fraser has seen you for most of his life putting up videos!
I love that you support him with his CZcams channel, that’s so sweet!

"Penalizing us for using them for what they're for" - excellent point. I think in modern society we've forgotten that's what they're for and one time in history it was the only option and babies would die without it! Ignore the haters, you're doing a great job!! ❀

Hi Emily, thank you for your comments on extended breastfeeding. I am still feeding my daughter, who is 2yrs and 2 months old. It wasn't really a choice to feed this long but we've also been lucky to have a fairly smooth breastfeeding journey so it feels right to just continue until she's ready to stop. I think it is really hard for some people to understand, and I think a video on the benefits and your positive experience could be really great, esp for new mums. I would love breastfeeding to become more normalised, so thanks again for raising it here on your vlog.

I get frustrated with it being called extended breastfeeding as the a term is natural term weaning. Because naturally babies if left to feed will typically wean around 3/4. Obviously in western society its so different to non western so we do consider feeding over 1 as extended when actually its still prime time to be feeding. Infact your milk anti bodies double after age 1. Well done Emily you are such a brilliant example. Well said here and also with such a large following it will help and inspire so many people xxx

I find it strange that people find it weird to breastfeed an older baby when the alternative is breastmilk from another animal! I’ve formula fed, I drink cows milk myself. I’m not on a high horse about either. It’s just strange what society normalises and what it frowns upon.
Also, “We go to the toy aisle and pick a toy...we don’t buy it.” Is the most real and relatable thing I’ve ever heard someone say 😂

Natalie Howard you should be proud of yourself for putting your baby before anyone else. Breastfeeding is so so good for your baby. Do it for as long as you can. My local hospital recommended doing it until they are 3.

My little one is 14 mo, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and am still breastfeeding! I've definitely started feeling a little awkward about it too, only in public though and it's mainly because my daughter loves to reach up and completely expose my breasts! She doesn't like me putting one away, she wants both and constantly switches between the two. 😅🙈 I've breastfed a little in public recently, only noticed once that I was being watched, not sure if it was in a negative or positive way. I try to be brave about it and not really care. I'm not doing anything wrong, comfort nursing/breastfeeding is normal and natural. I figure if someone doesn't like it, that's their problem.

Natural Vegan Mom wow go you!! Yes it's funny I only breastfeed in public now and then like if he's had a fall or needs some comfort but I notice people noticing! I'm more self conscious now than when he was a newborn! Are you going to tandem feed - well done I am in awe!

    • @HarrietFitzgerald580
      @HarrietFitzgerald580 Pƙed 6 lety +4

Natalie Howard I am going to try to tandem feed. For me, it didn't feel right to wean her before she's ready, simply because I was expecting another child. I was so scared that my milk would drop during my pregnancy, but nope, I've been blessed with a bountiful supply! 😂 I still cosleep with her and although she comfort nurses a lot, she also does get good feedings in there as well; some days more than others and it feels really rewarding to know that she's still getting good nutrition from my body, especially on days where she's feeling poorly or teething and thus eats less table food.

😭😭😭 My first weaned herself (when she was TWO) and it was soooo emotional for me. lol! After a year I told myself I'd do it as long as it worked for both of us, and she just slowly weaned herself. I love that you empower mamas to do what works for them!

I can’t believe people would say that to you about breastfeeding, I wouldn’t even consider 18 months extended breastfeeding, I thought that was older than 2. I do find it strange to see a toddler older than 2 breastfeeding but I wouldn’t say anything to the parent because it’s up to them. But under two is totally normal.
Personally I breastfed until 14 months and loved it, in the end I was only feeding in the morning and one day he just wasn’t interested and wanted to play instead of feeding and that was it. I was planning to stop some time between 12 and 18 months so it worked out perfectly

Awww ❀ Fraser and Jackson playing and cuddling so cute!! I've had lots of comments (mostly from the older generation of ladies...) Regarding me breastfeeding my 9 month old. He is a big boy and looks older than he is but like you said it's my choice. Due to going back to work I've already had to give up daytime feeding and do only one feed which I hate! Want to try and eek out this one feed til he's 18m but we shall see. Not ready for my breastfeeding journey to end despite all the comments!

Jackson is a week older than my daughter Violet and she's still breastfeeding a lot (between 6-8 times a day). I also donated over 25 litres to the Northwest Human Milkbank ❀. As a fellow breastfeeder I know how much it means to have positive comments and praise for it. You have done a fantastic job feeding all of your boys❀ it definitely helps to have a supportive husband and family. I'm the eldest of 8 children (7 on earth, 1 no longer with usđŸ‘Œ) and we were all breastfed so it was great to learn from my mum's experience too, and my husband was amazing support to me. I got some really positive comments a few months ago when a lady stopped to say "it's nice to see a bigger one being fed" and it really made my day that she had taken the time to come over and praise me. Thanks for helping to normalise breastfeeding through your channel and keep up the good work. We love watching your videos â€ïžđŸ˜˜xxx

I feel the same way about breastfeeding. Our little one is over 7 months now and we're still doing it. I love it so much. My husband is the most supportive. Most people I meet are shocked, but usually positive. But some people are like, oh, I didn't do that... I just fed bottle, then give some reason for bottle feeding like they feel guilty about it and assume I'm judging them cos I breastfeed. I wholeheartedly support feeding anyway you can, be it breast or bottle, whatever works for you! In the end I feel judged, and people assume that I think less of them for not breastfeeding. We need to get rid of the stigma and support every mother, whether they breastfeed or not! Thank you for your videos Emily. *Breast milk is a super food!* It’s actually so gross that we all pump animals breast milk but people don’t want you to feed your baby milk made for humans because they feel uncomfortable. I feel like as long as you make an effort to be conscious of who can see you and your not flashing everyone there is no problem. It is actually so weird that we pump cows breasts and drink it and love it. Honestly I think we should be drinking human milk. I know a lot of people will find this gross but if you really think about it makes sense. It would create so many jobs and be so much healthier if we all drank human milk instead of animal.

Extended breastfeeding video? Yes please! I struggled breastfeeding for FOUR months and it was so painful and frustrating n the idea that I'm expected to stop at 6 mnths pees me right off. I plan to aim for 1 yr - or as far as I can up to that but would love to hear about your experience reasoning etc for extended.
Mine biggest motivation for 12 mnths is that it'll benefit me in reducing the likelihood of breast and ovarian cancer etc.

24 minute video, yes! Love all your videos but day in the life’s especially. The things babies find fun are so strange!!đŸ€Ł Don’t understand why people give parents looks while out, it isn’t easy going round a shop with kids. I’m sure Jackson’s haircut made it even more curly.
As long as the child is happy to continue breastfeeding then it is fine until a certain point. Lots of children will just stop when they are ready. Don’t worry about the people who think you should have stopped by now.
Can’t believe how long it has taken you to get Jackson to wear shoes😂😂 I have never known a child hate them so much.

My son also hated his shoes for ages! We ended up getting him comfortable with them by letting him wear sandals inside the house when he was watching tv or distracted with a favorite toy. I would also put them on when he was napping and as soon as he woke, I would distract him with something he loved. Within a couple days, he was running around the house wearing them and forgot all about it. You can also try a different style of shoe than what he is used to. He’ll get there! ❀

In islam (my religion) the right of our children from us mothers is to breastfeed for atleast 2 years and it is a completely natural way of nurturing and nourishing as u say. We should never have to resort to listening to sexualised braindead people who try to tell us what is natural or not.

YES! I think an extended breastfeeding video would be so helpful. The more conversations we have about it, the less stigma there will be around it. I'm still breastfeeding my 16 month old, and I'm starting to get the "is she breastfeeding still?" look. No one really seems to talk about it much.... I have had people tell me I need to stop, it will be better for me when I do stop, baby doesn’t need it anymore, it’s just for comfort (as if comforting your baby is a bad thing) etc. I am sure you will continue feeding until you both want to stop and not let the uninformed comments worry you :-)

  • @pikakitty4291

You go, Emily!!! I would really like to see an extended breastfeeding video from you. I think a lot of women do extended breastfeed, but we don't see or talk about it often because people usually nurse their toddlers at home (because they no longer need to be fed like every 3 hours). I'm still breastfeeding my 3.5 year old and it's really down to just 30 seconds before bedtime. It's basically my tool to get her to stop moving around and lie down.
Anyway, I agree that most extended bf videos have women openly breastfeeding in them. It doesn't bother me because I support extended and public breastfeeding. But I can see that it doesn't help to change other people's minds about it. So yes, I would love it if you'd do a video on extended breastfeeding!
    Enjoy your trip!
