Sadao seemingly left his family completely to become a full-time musician, travelling across the world, and unknowingly completely cut all contact from his family. Jotaro, and the rest of the Joestar family never saw Sadao in their lives before (Joseph's a likely exception though).
So uh, to answer your question:
