    That sweet & condensed milk thing, I learned in the 70s at Boy Scout Camp. it blew my mind then, and it's just so fun to watch people STILL find out about it 40+ years later. Kudos to Paul Froehle, Troop Leader and fricking campfire cooking genius.

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside czcams.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

      Sorry for your loss. I lost my wife a few years back and Sam and the boys kept me from losing my sanity. I wonder if they realize how therapeutic their content is for those who are hurting and looking for an escape from the pain of the day. Stay strong.

      Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad the same day I gave birth six months ago and I was distraught that my son and my Dad never got to meet but I found comfort in listening to the close relationship Sam and Max have. Sometimes it's the little things! I hope your grief lessens with time.

      I’ve got two of them and I use them constantly. If you buy one make sure it has the sous vide feature. Perfectly cooked food every time!

    Hey Sam, if you're peeling boiled eggs, especially hard boiled, roll it with a little bit of pressure on a surface, and afterwards the entire skin comes off very easily.

    I pressured cooked a 10lbs turkey a couple of years age. I don't remember how long I cooked it for, maybe 90 minutes or 2 hours. It was falling off the bone done and I didn't have a trivet or any easy way to get it out of the pot. I just deboned it in the pot. The bones just came out so easily. Then I transfers all the meat to a pan and put it under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp the skin and dry everything off a little. It was a great turkey!!! I now do the same thing with game hens. Straight from the freezer to the instapot for an hour, to the broiler for 5 minutes.

    I just made double batch of butterscotch and chocolate chip cookies, so I'm way ahead of you.
    Edit: Pancakes in a pot. Pressure cooking a sealed can. Put the spliff down my friend.

    If you pressure cook eggs for an hour, they turn out very interesting. I think I was doing 15psi for an hour. They don't get rubbery since the white is acidic. The yolk will actually cook more and you will actually be able to taste the chicken. Typically, I've had a few cracks in the shells for each egg and get Maillard Reactions on those cracks where the egg white is exposed.
    This is a nice way to add some variety if you eat a lot of hard boiled eggs.

    Sam, an Instant Pot is a different device and has rules. I watched you pour in batter and said; that’s gonna burn. 5 IPs; he’s gonna blow the breaker unless he’s in a great electrical situation. Do a confab with Jeffrey Eisner on the IP, after his book tour. It will be an exciting learning experience for your audience and a great show. Back to the episode, I was worried about the Mac and dogs but the power blew.

    Had a can of sweetened condensed milk sitting in the back of my pantry that I knew was there, just hadn't gotten around to using. I literally just threw it in the Instant Pot a few mins ago after watching this and am waiting to see the results! :D

      @@amandakrause9394 11:30 PM Central. Just took it out of the ice bath and opened it. I'm 2 bites in... And it is everything you'd think liquid caramel would taste like! A++++ You can easily eat it direct out of the can like Sam & I did, or I could see whipping it up with a few extra ingredients in the kitchen aid mixer into a mousse, and serving it as a fancy dessert :)

      Cook time 35 mins @ high pressure with sealed can on trivet, and water 3/4 way up on can. Let NR 15 mins, and ice bath for another 15 mins.

    First off, I love you and your crew! Always made me laugh with the side commentary. Second, there is a trick to not having to drain your pasta. Put all the noodles and (other goodies) in the pot. Fill water about an inch above the noodles, make sure to add 1/2 tsp salt. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes. Fast release, add cheese, milk butter, and the noodles will be perfect. Every time. For larger noodles, just 4 minutes. My family and I love your vids. Thank you for sharing and always being authentic.

    Another really great video! Thinking about these great shortcuts, would love to see a video on taking meats from frozen to delicious dinner. I’ll often have some frozen meat, but I’m not sure how to quickly get it to edible in a tasty way.

    Amazon carries a wide variety of steam diverters that fit over the steam vent so that you can control where the steam goes. They are pretty inexpensive. About $5-$10. They also save your ceiling in your kitchen from being damaged by getting blasted with steam all the time.

    We've been making holiday candies in my family for years, and the "homemade" caramel we use in the Turtles is made the way you just showed. We just do it old skool in a pot of boiling water. It's absolutely amazing how it turns out!

    You can actually make the mac and cheese without so much water. 1 1/4 cups water, 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup butter (4 tablespoons), 1 box of mac & cheese. Dump everything besides sauce mix in pot. Pressure cook 4 minutes. Pressure release. Add in sauce mix. Serve.

      i've tried doing hard boiled eggs in the IP and i still prefer them in a pan w/water over heat

      @@helpfulcommenter Believe it or not, with hard boiled eggs in the IP it comes down to your location, and feet above sea level. The first time I tried, I followed the instructions from someone in SLC, Utah, which is 4400 ft above, whereas I live in a place close to level. They turned out way too hard /overcooked... Chalky yolks with a large grey ring. Once I learned to adjust the NR time for the height difference, reducing NR time by ~20%, and right into an ice bath, they turned out perfect.

    Do 2 cans of the sweetened condensed milk. Then put the caramel into a graham cracker crust. Sprinkle on chocolate chips. Refrigerate to set. Enjoy with a tall glass of milk.

    Make a pork roast in the instant pot. Then make the max and cheese. 1lb noodles 3 cups cheese milk and butter to taste and consistency. Mix it all at the end.

    Hack. before adding the liquid, preheat it in the microwave oven. It wont take 20 min to come up to pressure, only 5-7 min. no cooking takes place until pressure is up so adding hot liquid doesnt spoil anything.

    They were awesome! I got the Korean Short Libs and Smokey Pork & Mac. Both tacos were amazing, but the Korean Short Rib spices were my absolute favorite…

    420 pro tip on Mac&cheese. Double up the cheese powder, cut the milk by 75-100%, and add 2 tbs of cheese whiz….. You’re welcome.

    I think your fall off the bone wings look delicious. I do frozen wings for 8 minutes, no trivet, with natural release. They're completely cooked and can be sauteed or broiled, if you want them crispy. I use the broth in the bottom of the Instant pot to cook rice.

    You got the burn notice on the pancake because there was no liquid in the pot to bring it to pressure (pancake batter is too thick to be considered a liquid).
    A better way to do it might be: pour your batter into as large a cake pan as will fit in the Insta, cover it with a tight seal of foil (or a silicone stretch cover if you have it), put a cup of water in the pot and set the pan in there on a rack.
    I'm guessing the same amount of time will work. Welcome to an Insta-pancake...without a burn notice or crispy edge!

    take a glass baking dish, make a layer of Nilla Wafers, then pour the caramel over it, and another layer of Nilla's, and more caramel. Do this till you have it to 5 layers deep then put it in the fridge...
    after it gets hard, cut a square out, cover with 1" to 2" of coolwhip and enjoy....

    There is no caramel better than condensed milk caramel. It's wonderful used in a sweet pie crust lined with fresh banana slices and covered with the caramel.

    Just out the gate I have to say that for recipe number one 45 minutes doesn’t work after the munchies have already hit. The ease of use and ability to forget that you started something cooking (without ruining it) works for sure, but the time frame for having something to eat just doesn’t.

    the instant pot wings only work with the combo cookers, so you can air fry them immedietly after the pressure
