    Native Marylander. When I was about 9, I packed steamed crabs as my school lunch in a state far away where they had never seen such a thing. Dismembered and at it in the cafeteria with about a 100 dumbfounded kids looking at me eat a monster bit by bit. One of them gave me money for the shell. I was branded as weird after that. But it was worth it.

    Larry I love crabs! I got two crab stories for you.#1 Back in the day(about 35 years ago) we would go down to Dania Beach with a chicken neck tied to a string, and scoop net and catch a bushel of blue crabs in a couple of hours. Now there are none. All fished out.We used to throw back females , but the influx of people who didn't caused the crab population to die out.#2 there is a Resturant called the Rustic Inn Where you can get a dozen crabs *garlic steamed) for market price. Back in the day 35 years ago they had ALL YOU CAN EAT! Not anymore.Great video makes me want some crabs!

    • @TheWolfePit
      @TheWolfePit  Před 9 lety

      The Root Boy Cooks ! Yeah Sal, those were the days! When I lived in Carolina Beach there was a brackish lake my father and I would go to and crab the same way you did. But we'd get fish heads from the fish market. We too always threw back the females. I actually went fishing last weekend to Lynnhaven pier in Va. Beach, which is a crab sanctuary where they come and lay their eggs so it's all female crabs full of eggs. People leaving with bushel baskets full. I contact Virginia Dept of Game and Inland Fisheries and they said it's LEGAL to keep egg bearing females after June 15th. That's straight bullshit and another reason crabs are so expensive and the numbers are down and why our governments are so screwed up. I read a mature female crab can lay up to 500,000 eggs AT ONCE. So every crab this people keep is preventing the population from ever getting back to what it used to be. Thanks for watching!

    Yep, on the legs, take a wood rolling pin and roll from bottom of leg toward the end you broke off from knuckle, and you will get a thin piece of crab meat, lot of legs, at the price, you want all the meat you can get. At the price, you may be tempted to eat gills, shells and all, lol
