North Wildwood Beach Replenishment UPDATE

- The North Wildwood Beach Replenishment project is moving at an insane pace.
This past weekend we stopped by the job site to grab some seagull footage of the project. So far crews have been able to finish phase 1.
Phase 1 is laying sand from 8th Ave north and wrap around the jetty on 2nd Ave.
Phase 2 is adding sand to the streets South of 8th Ave.
At this rate, crews are pushing out about 100 by 200 feet of sand a day. With the project projected to be done by July 2nd, we could see the rest of the beaches done all the way down to 26th Street.

I used to walk this beach from 20th street to the Inlet, then up the Inlet to Moore's Inlet beach, in the early 1960's. It was always such a beautiful walk. Glad you are restoring this walk for today's generation.
I bet the Wildwood of the 60s would have been such a magical place!
Looks great. The Wildwoods and the Wildwood Crest beaches are some of the best in NJ. I spent every summer there growing up.

Thanks for the update Joey! We stay in the Crest for the past 50 years so we have the opposite problem. But good to know our “neighbors to the north” will have a beach to enjoy this year.

We will be getting down there on the 29th through July 6th. I had to do the math to see if they would be past our 16th street beach block, so far it is looking like we are in the clear...fingers crossed it stays on schedule. Cannot wait to be back to our home away from home on E16th this year ❤ thanks for the updates. Like and subscribed.😊

@startupdad I believe the video said they were up to 8th Ave today, and are doing a block a day. Going by the current pace they should be done up to area of 13th -14th Ave in NoWW by Monday. (And hitting the starting block of the Boardwalk (16th) by next Thursday. Enjoy your trip!

So, up at the Matador will have a beach??? I forget the starting point.
This will be 25 yds of additional Beach in Wildwood Crest by April
But I was up until like 6:00 a.m. like 1:00 a.m. at that time I was the only one watching
I know from experience in Hawaii, this won't last long. (1 year, tops) when it comes to the ocean and nature's ways and cycles with sand, you're spitting into the wind. City/County workers are employed I guess, but other than that, this a a complete waste of money and effort.
This project was only approved as an emergency stop gap measure for one season. There is a more significant replenishment project already scheduled for next year.
does anyone know yet if the cabana ban is going to be lifted soon?

@GaryBerns they haven't officially announced a lift yet but no reason to think it won't be lifted once this is done which if they stay on schedule all beaches will be done by July 2nd. We go down in 10 days, bummed to leave ours at home this year so I splurged on some killer new beach chairs to cheer us up 😏 enjoy your trip!

It's sad to say but I think it's never going to get better until they build some jetty's that shoot way out into the ocean to try and change the flow of the current. You can already see erosion down by 2nd Ave in the corner there where they covered the small Jetty there. It's just a matter of time before all that gets washed out back out to sea. One good storm and Kaplooyee; all that hard work and money for nothing.
I couldn't help but think that as well.

When this washes away by Match will you be expecting New Jersey state to fund another? And another after that? Here's an idea... Start charging Beach fees, save that money, and start the permanent Beach protection effort, complete with jetties and high dunes, now. I don't know how much sympathy we'll get for another year of whining of why aren't they building my beach back?
