- Horse racing in the forest is an excellent occasion to see some breath taking "pony drifts", where riders gather up and herd the ponies at high speeds.

Ha ha really getting me in the mood for some Red Dead Redemption 2!
First a Brave Wilderness video about ridding horses and now BBC earth is getting me excited for the game coming out TOMORROW!!!!!! WOOOO! 🏇🐎🏇🏇🏇
I love horses
So do i especially when they run in water
Isahaq Yusuf omg yes
I said the same when I entered the video
It's disgusting how people are getting triggered about this in the comment section.
Riding a horse is animal abuse? Seriously? It's an activity that has literally been around since the beginning of civilization. Why complain about it now? Why not decades ago? Centuries ago? Millennia ago?
Because being a random social justice warrior is "cool" to some people these days. Nobody cares what you think of this. At the end of the day, horses will still be ridden, and your complaining changes nothing.
People have been complaining about horse riding for decades but it's only just appearing now because people are finally waking up & caring about ending animal exploitation.

Ridiculous.
Technically horses are an invasive species anywhere outside of Asia. There's no harm in training them to be ridden.
Their lifespans also receive no significant decrease from domestication. Therefore people who complain about this have really no real basis to do so except "I don't like the way your treatment looks."
@@YodaDJmaster There is harm when there is no need to ride a horse in the first place. Horses don't need to be ridden to get exercise, they can exercise themselves without humans saddling them and riding them. Its exploiting them for own our benefit.
We've come to a point where domesticated animals rely on humans to survive. We can stilllook after the horses and love them but we don't need to ride them. We wouldn't ride a dog or a cat, just like we wouldn't eat a dog or cat, why is it ok for some animals to be treated in one way but not for others?
If you have a look at some peer reviewed articles on horse riding, you'll see that it actually causes a lot of damage to horses if you ride them. Bite Size Vegan has some great videos on why we shouldn't ride horses, maybe you need to have a watch.
@@charlottecorin7620
"You wouldn't ride a dog or a cat."
No one would. That's not even logical and the animal would die.
But an animal that can support the weight like a Camel? Yes. I would.
"The animal can get exercise without it"
Well of course. But also irrelevant. People don't ride the horse so it can exercise. They do it to get from point A to point B.
And again on the point of lifespan, a horse that is generally ridden does *not often live less than the average horse's lifespan.*
Now a race horse, they won't live long. There's no real usefulness in horse racing, and I don't even watch it, so that we can do without.
But there's no problem in training new uses in animals.

Animal abuse is wrong.
Getting a simple use of the animal that doesn't hurt it is not. Plain and simple.
I am disgusted that people use "We HaVe BeEn HoRsE RiDiNg FoR MiLlEnIa" Because that doesn't make it OK. Prove to me that horses would choose you on their back above living in the wild.
Think about that
Seems coincidental seeming as RDR2 releases tomorrow, oh BBC Earth.
That looks fun
My favorite animal ♥
I love 🐎.....😘😘😘
I love horse⛳🏇
I need a job like this lol
👏👏👏
Rodrigo and Gabriela playing on the background?
What are those collars around their necks?"
Rocio Silverroot they’re reflective collars. There are lots of roads and cars driving through the forest so it helps to see the ponies in the dark. Hope this helps.
@@MiniDeanzyFire That's cool!
Some of the horses have cribbing collars and some refective. Cribbing is when some horses have a habit of biting down on fences and inhaling air into their stomach. Horses cant burp or throwup so this makes them feel full and they wont eat as well as is can cause them to get sick.
There b Tec cowboys 😂😂👌🏻
How long is the duration of a pony drift?
about 2 hours to round them up and then 3 hours to process all of the ponies
I liket
I'm surprised to see so many of the riders not wearing protective head gear. They're asking for trouble!
Only people looking to get hurt need helmets.
@@glassdragonmedia so wrong .
Differences between wild horse videos in America and British wild horse videos. Both the chat feels like the horses should be free. Only in Britain's would you find people ranting a claim about it is animal abuse for a human to ride on top of horse. Talk about fake issues to fret about, and by clearly city slickers. Mean while in the American one people will have clear arguments about whether if the wild horses are invasive or native and what is the proper way to handle them without it messing up our environment. They're split between saving the environment or keeping the last of the wild west (Actual issues and drama.)
Please add subtitles BBC....
This is literally normal English. Why would you need subtitles?
@@YodaDJmaster you're rude,I'm deaf
@@stephaniemalley9018
That's understandable, but considering the videos the original commenter has liked, *he isn't.*
I understand why someone who is disabled would need it, of course, But it would seem that's not the case for this guy.
...So why?
@@stephaniemalley9018
Lol, are you really
@@YodaDJmaster some people have difficulties to catch british accent

Why are grown man riding pony’s????????????
Wild not WIld in the title
He write correct you idiot
First
Yet when I went to the New Forest a few weeks ago I walked right up to a number of ponies and was soon surrounded by them, stroking them and petting them. Wild & dangerous my arse.
Should not be touching them hence why there are signs everywhere.
Yawn
@@bundusafaris rally do you not understand the damage you're doing? Stay in the city.
Now I know you're a not very intelligent person. Very presumptuous of you to think I live in a city. How wrong could you be? Stupid girl.
@@louisejane8049 illiterate too.
Bits and horseshoes are bad for horses. So are stalls. Natural horsemanship is the best and new way to go, to make the most of the gentle companionship shared with your large equestrian friend.
You've got no idea have you ?
Let me guess, you have little experience of horses other than the rubbish spouted by American horse "experts?"
So these ponies are free to anyone? I can go down there and herd some up?
No lol 😆
Have they nothing better to do with their time?
Whats wrong with it ?
Leave my ponies alone
They're not yours
Lol and they call that "England's Wild West" lol they should come to the real wild west right here in Arizona U.S.A. so they can have a real taste of it.
Abuse you mean ... no thanks dont need to see grown men strangling horses with lasoos and breaking animals
Sad to see such promotion of animal exploitation. Animals exist for their own purposes, not ours.
Wa horses abuse again ... so cool indeed BBC
Where is the horse abuse ?
