Bud never looked as good in any other of his fights & he brought out his total A game & focus against Spence. Spence looked bad because Bud was simply great that night. He didn't take his eyes off Spence one time in that fight. Every punch he threw was hard & crisp with no errors in his punch, footwork & defensive techniques. He looked damn near perfect. Only Floyd Mayweather did in fights what Bud did to Spence. I'd rather hear guys talk about how great Bud looked rather than how bad he made Spence look (Mayweather vs Coralles was 50-50 fight on paper & I thought Diego was gonna kill Floyd & that's the fight that made me a Floyd Mayweather fan). There was nothing Spence could do, that night, that would've worked because Bud was totally focused & did everything almost perfectly. I too think Bud took it easy on Spence after the knockdown in round two. Bud couldn't miss & Spence couldn't land.

What I haven’t heard anyone mention since the fight that I noticed was, apart from the counter power jab, look at how Crawford held up his hands, specifically his elbows.
Crawford has a long reach and those long arms protected his body very well. His elbows were right at his sides, touching his trucks. And his high guard protected him from hooks and over hands. So that left Spence the only real option of straight body shots or straight head shots.
All he had was 1’s and 2’s. And when he tried those punches he was literally punished every single time. Man oh man he slowly caught him in his net, eliminated his strengths and forced him to use shots that were successfully counted every time.
Go watch the tape and look at how tight his elbows are at his sides. Spence had no chance.

I disagree that he wanted to punish him. He just had a lot of respect for him, and he didn't want to see him get knocked out. These guys are friends. There is zero bad blood between these two. Crawford knows that spence gave him a big opportunity and payday. Spence did not have to give Bud the opportunity at all. And Bud respects him so much for that. These guys are winning and losing all the way to the bank. They are prize fighters. It is not personal how people make this out to be. They are collecting the big bags before they retire. Bud knew lefties historically in both ammy and pro gave Spence huge issues. That reverse 1/2 was working all night and there was a technical reason for it. Like everything else with Bud.
Same with the choice of lefty all night. He is a natural right hander fighting as lefty and the southpaw right hook was better suited than the further away orthodox straight or overhand, as it was closer, right after Bud uses a left hand which Spence blocks ... but then he always has a tendency to drop the left hand guard and boom. Short shots right hooks or uppercuts all night. And that after he got him used to the 2-1 and expecting a jab instead of a hooking type shot. Bud layers traps round after round with surgical patience.
That tendency of spence to parry the first and be open for the second and third been exposed by other fighters for years, as did his flawed elbow shield defense. They just never cracked as hard or had the IQ or killer instinct Bud got.
Also dispensing with righty meant less time and energy spent on the foot battle as well as less headbutt and tripping dangers, chances of cuts etc. I thought he would have it hard to take away the jab more in lefty and would use 2 or 3 rounds orthodox for that but nope.... timing based power jab baby.
Godly ring iq and elite natural fighting instincts you just cannot teach!!!

Half way through the 2nd round Bud kind of Shoved Spence and realised he was much stronger that night - from that moment he stopped taking 2 steps back and took half a step back when Spence came forward and just stood his ground and countered Spences jab and dropped him 30 seconds later and Spence just couldn't adjust because he doesn't have the IQ Bud has. I've went back and watched a lot of Spence fights and it's so obvious if your willing to stand your ground he's so open to be countered off his Jab but because most opponent were Orthodox they were always out of range due to stance so that Bud knew that and is able to fight out of Southpaw so naturally made it light work and these 2 could fight a 100 times Bud wins 100

That fundamental stuff with power was not going to get it done but all these fans thought that Spence was on the same level. When it comes to boxing my eyes don't lie and I don't get caught up in being a man fan, race fan, etc... I knew the same thing with Fulton and Naoya. Been watching both for a while.
