  • In this episode i try to show you a little trick on how to visualize how the flow behaves in a twostroke cylinder of modern design.
If this video is getting a lot of views i will try to show in new videos small tips and tricks i´ve got.

Hi Patrick, I'm going to try the finger visualisation on my AR. It's out of the bike at the minute so I can machine some more heads to try.

      Yes, try it..
It get´s kind of a 3d simulating picture into your mind =)

Also, have you ever read: SAE 1999-01-3333?
The relationship between port shape and engine performance for two stroke engines?
It details Yamaha's Three Dimensional Anemometric-tester system.

I actually do think i have read it, but many many years ago.
Need to re-read as my skills are a lot higher nowadays.
I try to download as we speak.

      Nice!
Don´t care about the spelling, i understand anyway =)

Nowadays people have zero clue how things work. They buy pre maid well designed cyls and make big power act like they have something to do with output. Try going back to cave man days buy a 100 $ junk Chinese bicycle engine with poorly designed cyls.super low port timing. And make improvements and power. I belive the internet & computer made people dumber. I find people relating water flow with Gasses flowing. Like your finger idea. Basically your boost port roof angle is pushing the fuel air charge that's hugging cyl walls at rear of cyl up and towards front side of combustion chamber not out the exhust port loosing the big wedge that use to be on dome of piston back in the 50s. Making a loop charge. I'm not a software kinda dependent person I'm more a port 1000 cyls and timing guy. Growing up we started with piston port transition to semi case reeds to case reeds no power vales no boost ports no multiple tranfers. I 100% not a pipe guru. But I see young people think all the powers in the pipe. But if you have crap port timing low port timing the pipes not gonna produce the power. As far as scavenging goes the pipe & blowdown does play big part in helping draw fresh charge from cyl. Not trying to write a book but yea like your hands on video way better than some software simulation.

Yes,, I´m also an 'oldschool kinda hands on guy'.
I like to 'feel' things, and see things.
But i have this bonus, i can combine it with computers helping me, but with that i can see when the computer is not having any commen sense and tells me stuff that is way outside the border of what´s working in real life.
I feel bad for many scooterboys buying 'professionally' ported cylinders, and the only thing the porter has done is schratching a little bit on the surface, making it look like it´s been ported.
And charging big money from it.

@@Patricks_Projects for laughs and less than 150 dollars love to see you step back into the stone age. Get you a bicycle engine and see how much power you can make. The highest level of naturally aspirated four strokes in drag racing. Is Nhra prostock motorcycles. Been doing that for many years. My buddy's laughed at me for going to the lowest fourm of engines piston port air cooled two strokes. Kinda went full circle in life.

@@Patricks_Projects I like the key words you say when scooter guys get pre made parts and act like they have something to due with the results. I enjoy your vids 100% . You do a great job. It's not easy to put into words for videos especially in another language how two strokes function. A blind person can see you have Hands on experience. 100% of the time that's the people I will pay more attention to. Few areas I see and pay attention to and peoole miss out on is when you were messing with dyno and timing curves. No question the software is needed for calculations on a proper pipe for a two stroke. And 100% your a master with your pipe making skills. Ps you do a great job with your videos and much appreciated.
