Who do you think will be the next face of the league?
Luka
Ja morant young good shooting and dunking highlights
Nvm bronny let's be real
Overall I’m biased since I’m at wolves fan but I think ant has an equal chance to be the face as ja. He has everything ja has on the checklist, an equally talented supporting cast, and is a year younger in case lebron goes for 45 or something
@@Icysnipe Ja gonna catch a Rico charge before he can be the face of the league lol
Ja saw this video and said “absolutely not, hold my beer”
No
Hold (not) my (deff a toy) glock
lmao wait till you seen zion
gun*
Hold my gun
It could be Anthony Edwards the only thing that’s holding him back is being on the Timberwolves
Well…
This did not age well
ranked first in the west, this aged horribly
Not anymore
I came here to see if Anthony Edwards was mentioned. They definitely dropped this one.
I can't believe they didn't say Tatum. He's 24, the Celtics have been really competitive his whole career and it looks like that will only continue, he's already a top 5 player in the NBA, he can dunk, shoot, and dribble really well, and Boston is a pretty big basketball market
😂😂😂 he’s not the same dude you think he is. He doesn’t have the energy or the umph to be a main character. Lebron was BORN to be the face of a league, Tatum is quiet. He is a Kobe deciple but doesn’t have Kobe’s outspoken chest and public persona. That’s a whole different ball game than the ballgame
Could be Tatum. He seems to be closer to Kawhi than LeBron in terms of marketability though but thats just me
Classic Celtics fan
Face of the leagues need a superstar personality. Magic, Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron. All these guys had that to them. Tatum doesn’t have that.
@@synthetic_sports fair, although he didn't take as long to become a superstar and doesn't miss as many games as Kawhi
One thing you guys missed was that the player needs to be able to be loved and hated by the media and fans. Jordan, Kobe, and especially LeBron were all loved and hated when they played. That’s why I don’t think it will be guys like Giannis (too likeable) or Ja (too easily unlikeable) and instead I think it’s gonna be Luka who’s young, super talented, and can be both loved and hated by the media and fans
Ja Morant is not easily unlikable. Hes entertaining and he has an attitude like Jordan. His only problem is trying to act hood and live a lifestyle that will ruin future sponsorships and probably his career in the nba.
@@llookktt he’s easily unlikeable lmao. Dude talks like he’s the best player in the league and that nobody’s a problem when he hasn’t even made it past the second round. They talk too much shit and can’t back it up, just like phoenix lol
@@jpgcz He also still talks as if he is in the hood when he makes millions.
@@llookktt still think he’s not unlikeable?
@@F76CC ehh
that ja choice aged like milk
It's amazing when you think that Lebron is a household name for 20 years of NBA fans. Many players I was a fan of as a kid (McGrady, Vince Carter, etc) became role players in the latter years and some young fans didn't know much about them.
That Ja take was steaming cold
LOOOOOOOOOL
I think it'll be an international player, because the game is becoming more international, and outside of NA, people will cling to a player because they're not American, so I think it'll be Luka, easily
Americans really suck now. 3 pt, 3 pt, 3 pt, porn stars, porn stars, porn stars.
I agree with this. You'd want it to be Embiid ideally, because 1) he's funny and charismatic, 2) he's got the international footprint, and all else being equal, 3) he's black. Which, I think when a league is around 75% black, there's value and importance to the face of that league being black.
It definitely won't be Embiid though 😂
I think Ja has a better chance than Zion. He’s already backed it up and has proven himself to be not only a rising star, but a threat. Zion can be but he’s missing too much time and he’s not losing weight to help his chances. I love Zion but out of all the young options, give me Luka or Ja.
Out of curiosity, how misrated is Ja Morant? Does he have the potential to be top five in the game if he hasn’t been already?
Can’t help but ask given that he was called overrated here.
Granted it’s tough for any player to be the face of the league in terms of popularity or marketability without being a certain degree of overrated at some point.
It's between Tatum and Luka. They're the two that have a type of game that your average kid can emulate (by that I mean they're not pulling big men moves like Embiid, Giannis, and Joker). On top that, they're both young and extremely talented so you know success is ahead.
8:52 I’m honestly so glad y’all even touched on this cause I feel like NOBODY considers the possibility of this! We talk about past & present players and make “all time” statements ; meanwhile the league hasn’t shut down yet, meaning there’s always a possibility of a player to come in years later & prove our statements wrong.
The international resyriction I think is lessening, thanks to Giannis, Jokic, and Luka. Among those 3, Luka's the only one with the right age requirements, the cockiness, and the follow through. He's has literally been willing the Mavs to wins, in a very similar vein to a young Lebron.
It's Luka. I just don't buy the face has to be a highlight reel. All that's needed is marketability and dominance. Luka is Hella marketable the same way Bird was. Not the most athletic, but an absolute force regardless.
Nah it's probably gonna be Ja Morant
@@thenbagreatteller1855 ja seems to be the next iverson imo
No
What will stop Ja being the face of the league is that that brother thinks he's the next King Von😭😭
He spittin about ja tho
Facts. All previous face of the leagues were the best player in the NBA for multiple years. Ja won’t be that.
@@brauwow Could he be a perennial all star to All-NBA caliber player?
Obviously that’s not the level of play they want to see, but could that be said for Ja?
@@fortynights1513 Oh yeah, he’ll definitely be all-nba for multiple years.
I'd say it could be Banchero, and while we're at it Benedict Mathurin could be the villain. Hell, I can already see it, it could all begin with Mathurin losing the ROTY to Banchero.
Bro said mathurin😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 be serious with yourself
@@cole8957 mathurin is solid, he is just in the same situation harden was in okc, but if he had his own team he would be putting big numbers.
Shaq was the face of the league during his peak in the early 2000s despite having "no bag". It is kinda annoying how people hate on Giannis for that but then marvel at Zion and Shaq that do the same thing. Idk why.
Literally just said this lol. Did we not see Shaq from 2000-2002 lol
If a player has “no bag” what does that mean?
@@fortynights1513 overeliance on physical gifts in comparison to finesse. Short for saying someone has no bag of tricks.
@@olamideolanrewaju6581 Certainly the case with Shaq and lately Giannis.
I believe Wemby may have all the hype now, but Scoot Henderson may become the face of the league. Yknow how people say “Kobe” when shooting, I think people might say “Scoot” when hitting a euro step or something
Was looking for this comment. That kid seems to have his shit together and plays a little angry
idk if this is a hot take, but I think Shai has a solid chance at being a new face of the league.
Aged very badly for Ja as favorite LOL
Really honestly i think the new face of league is going to be parity. I think the nba will try to market itsself as "any team can win it all this year, will it be your team?"
Great take
@@sonisisuper thanks! 🙏
suddenly theres this dude named anthony edwards came out of nowhere to steal the show.
I feel like the NBA is gonna have another era of "who's the next lebron or jordan" and just start labeling everyone as lebron or jordan until one comes in and plays like them
Ur intro music is one of the best 🤣 reminds of me of call of duty
Just in time for English class 😈 keep up the vids :)
To be the “face” of the league you have to be a top 5 player and win multiple rings. Not just the most exciting player, and you also do not have to be American. It’s an international game and it’s being taken over. It’s Giannis or Luka. You can also look to who the shoe brands think are marketable and who has their own shoe line already.
Multiple rings over time tho…lebron didn’t come in day one with rings
I have to go with Taum, he does it all
I’m gonna be honest, I think it’s gonna be a while until we get another face of the NBA.
If you mean face of the NBA, then Look at Jordan in the 90’s or LeBron in the 2010’s. Those were arguably the most famous athletes in the world at the time, and the way the nba is going now, I doubt any of these guys will ever be a true face like LeBron and Jordan.
Jokic and Luka - Shy and quiet. Don’t care about social media or fame.
Giannis and Embiid - Will both be in their 30’s after LeBron retires
Ja - Controversy
A lot of these international players probably wont really care about being the face of the NBA, and with all the talent in the league, there will never be a true face.
Both MJ and LeBron basically owned the league, which is something we never really saw from Kobe or Magic, and I think it’s gonna be a while until we see anything like them.
In general the league doesnt really need a face. What they DO NEED is more views. That is what they are struggling with. Now people can just pull out their phone and watch highlights, which is part of the reason that the NBA has a poor amount of views.
The NBA can be like the NFL and have no true face.
I'm probably talking out of my ass, but Paolo Banchero. He's a rookie playing like a five year vet, he's on a young up and coming team, and he's got a great court personality (aggressive and confident)
I may be wrong but i don't think so. Every face of the league has weirdly been flashy names. For example if I were just a normal person that didn't know anything about the nba and I were asked the question "who hasn't been the face of the league out of these options" A. Michael Jordan 😮 B. Kobe Bryant 😮 C. LeBron James 😮 OR D. Paulo Banchero 💀 the name paulo banchero just doesn't have that magnetic pull like LeBron.
it's probably gonna be that 7 foot French kid
If they move Memphis to the east after expansion, a Ja-Luka rivalry will rule the ratings.
i don't think you should do it by market cause before mj bulls weren't a big market. cavs still not a big market even after lebron played for them twice.
Ben Simmons up next
In China
7:40 Ja keeps working on his 3 ball and becomes a bit more humble and he has best odds
Zion or Tatum imo. The Pelicans would probably be the #1 or #2 seed if he stayed healthy, and he gets more fit each year. Tatum is self explanatory, although he could also go the route of a Tim Duncan and end up having a stellar career but not end up being iconic.
Even if people think Luka is the best I definitely don’t see him ever being the face. He isn’t as commercial for marketability and his personality isn’t as interesting. I think Tatum has great potential. And obviously Ja in his own lane, he’s very charismatic, has style, is exciting to watch. I can see Ja having a strong media bounce back. I mean, players (Kobe) have done far worse and become extremely beloved
Imma just say: If Ja can get his act up and stop flashing glocks at strippers, he does have the potential to be the face of the league. Not to the level that MJ or LeBron are/were, but he’s pretty much got it all. Maybe except the big marketable team.
It's so weird that the NBA is the most talented that it's ever been since it started, and we still can't find the next face of the league once LeBron James retires.
Wemby : "I took that personally"
Edward’s will have a word with you
250mio people in literally every part of the world outside the US could buy Giannis', Jokic's or Luka's jerseys, merch, shoes and watch all their games, and they would still be: "Well, their passports forbid them from becoming the face of the league"
The twitter link dont work and I cant find you guys on any social media.
The twitter link is fixed now. Thanks for letting us know!
Bro the ja hate is unreal
I think it’s gonna be someone else. I’m thinking maybe Scoot Henderson if he lives up to the potential or someone else that we don’t even know about yet. Ja is overrated. Zion gets hurt too much.
What we need is someone who’s built like Giannis, scoring ability like KD, passing like Magic, athleticism and durability like LBJ, mentality and dominance of MJ, Flashiness like Ja/Kyrie, numbers like prime Westbrook and will dominate the whole league for atleast 5 years consecutively the same way MJ, Kobe and LBJ did.
Wtf my bro is dreaming so hard
Bro described Luka 💀
@@daytopel4292facts luka is super athletic
Best channel on CZcams
It’s definitely about to be an unknown 8th grader who’s going to grow up and take the league by storm.
Great video! Well done. 😂
It’ll either be Luka, Wemby, or someone we don’t know yet Imo
"Big are never the face of the league" Kareem and Shaq don't exist now, eh?
Synthetic Sports: We're picking Ja and Zion
Ja and Zion since: allow us to reintroduce ourselves...
#GuruBasketballKieroSays being the face of the NBA will be an American-born player.
Either Anthony Edwards, Pablo Bancharo, maybe Jayson Tatum or maybe another player.
Wemby, Ant, Shai, & Luka got a good chance.
It could be a small market team LBJ played in CLE more than anywhere else. The thing is who ever it is would need to be in the playoffs every year wherever he plays, this every couple years missing the playoffs 💩 isnt going to cut it. And cant have off the court issues, thats the biggest one
Idk if it will be ja because memphis is the smallest market in the league.
well why just one face of the league why not two? look what that did for football⚽️ with Messi and Ronaldo battling it out. heck Larry Bird and Magic Johnson
Another example: In the NFL, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the 00’s and early 10’s.
Must be rivalry then? Who?
@@rafidammar5822 depends i mean you can do An American vs A Foreigner 🤷🏻♂️ if your gonna build up a face might as well build up a market with them. can’t have the same old Lakers/Celtics yea i know easier to sell but with more options you have more fans oversea. look at the Chiefs for the NFL
i’m biased for Charlotte to get recognized tho. so IMO Ja Morant vs LaMelo Ball but i know majority will disagree. so i have no idea i was think Luka… but who else can be paired with him Jayson Tatum? remember it has to be someone from the western vs eastern conference to get eyes on the NBA Finals rather than Conference finals
Even after all the shit that's happened, I believe it is still going to be Ja Morant
I disagree 1000% about the giannis take expect for his age I can see what you’re saying there. But c’mon let’s not be blatantly ignorant some of the biggest names in the league are coming from outside the US. In the next couple of decades I predict there to be a huge amount of players from other countries etc
yall funny as shit man love it
Luka Ja Giannis Zion Wemby are my top 5 barring any superstar getting drafted in the next years or so. Dark horse Bronny if he actually comes in the league BALLING 😂 he gotta come Gunning
Ant if he has a good supporting cast I think could be the face
your Ja take aged like fine wine
Anthony Edwards is looking like a favorite for me rn
It's gonna be between Anthony Edwards or Jayson Tatum
7:38 man Ja threw all of this away
Yeah he's still young but it'll stain his brand reputation
Selfishly I vote Giannis, but I feel like it’ll be either Ja or Booker despite how my dislike of them.
how about luka doncic? i see him putting up monumental numbers when he chooses to ball out. just a thought.
If we’re really taking age into consideration, it’s gotta be Jayson Tatum, right? I mean the kid is only 20 after all
And he’s only 19
bro tatum is 19
So no Jason T. thou. I mean i ain’t no Boston Celtics fans I’m a heat fan but even then I got give respect to this young player
I know he’s old but I feel like Steph is defecto face of the league contender given how every kid tries to be him, he’s easily one of the most recognizable and fun players to watch too. I think if Lebron goes and the next Lebron hasn’t stepped up we’d have a couple years of Steph as the face
JA's case is weird because he probably will never be the best player in the league. He's also already gone past the good guy phase and is now one of the biggest heels in the league.
I really think Luka's perfect, his game is still pretty cool, he's already one of the most popular players, and the combination of him being white and his English not being terrible will probably make him marketable to the "everyman" (sigh).
final take aged fucking terrible
If it's gonna be Luka, for how long? Dude is the modern day Babe Ruth. Maybe he is not a record setter but I do think that one day the face of the NBA will be European/ not American.
My picks:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Jayson Tatum
- Zion Williamson
- Ja Morant
- Luka Doncic
- Nikola Jokic
- Joel Embiid
- Jimmy Butler
- Anthony Edwards
- Devin Booker
Can't believe he said those things about Ja smh
Somebody who does things the old fashion way. No roids, no Klutch, no super teams. And most importantly WHO DOES NOT QUIT!
but with all the points you made, gotta go with JT
What about Paolo? he’s balling in Orlando
What would you say his ceiling is as a player?
@@fortynights1513it's waaaay too early to say but bro is not playing like a rookie. We have to wait a couple years at least but he has superstar potential in my opinion
Problem with ja and Zion I do think e thier will ever be the best player in the league or stay good off the court why I would say Luka
I think there won’t really be a face of the nba until a while, at least after today’s stars start aging. Currently, I think there will be multiple faces of the league, but none will be the best.
Yeah i just don’t think ja has the respect from a lot of people (including myself) so I can’t really see him as the face of the league.
No Antman that’s crazy
Ja has the highest chance. because when you go to a video of leagues best dunks it will show Ja a lot.
I like ja and think he is amazing but he lowkey is overrated. Like if we bein real u could argue SGA is better than ja. Bro putting up over 31 every night. Better shooter and defender while still being a great playmaker
i can’t believe ant was not spoken of
Bates is 6’9 19 years old skinny and is the best shooter in the world under as a teenager and that’s over 6ft 8 also as of December 2023, he is attempting 10 and 11 threes again and shooting almost 50% and there not coming off 3s there crazy shots he won’t be 20 years old till 2024 so I can see him growing to 610, 611, lt says the same measurements Kevin Durant, but you know what Kevin Durant didn’t do when the Gatorade high school player of the year as a sophomore when he was at Texas he was already 19 years old when Bates went to Memphis he was only 17 put bates on the spurs and let him have the freedom that the French guy gets I’m not even a fan but he would drop 20avg as soon as Mitchell leaves for ny and he’s not under this stupid two-way contract or he has to play a certain amount of games in the G league which is paid played 15 and the average is 30 points a game I hope he leaves the cavs to let the kid ball out the biggest steal of the 2nd round besides the joker
It's Giannis. But the media is going to talk about Tatum, Zion, and Luka.
So it's not giannis?
Jordan was the face of the NBA becoming a global major sport and the player empowerment, LeBron is the confirmation that it’s working, Wenby will globalize it and established nba and basketball as the most unique sport for player, fans and franchise
Turns out Ja is not
It might be scoot Henderson!
Giannis is going to be the next face of the league. Already a champion, finals mvp and dpoy, all star mvp. Top 10 in scoring, rebounds, blocks. Lebron also came from a small market team.
Curry could be a placeholder until the 8th grader. I think it could be vic if he’s healthy tho
Vic looks too goofy to be the face of the nba 💀
If LeBron’s prime hadn’t proven to be as long as it has, could it have been Curry at some point in the past few years?
very one does the luka step back
What about Anthony Edwards
Damn this dude called it on ja
I know skip is not looking forward to lebrons retirement.
Doncic & an AA player like Larry and magic
i don’t see anyone touching jordan/kobe/Lebron status 🤷🏾♂️
If Zion would’ve stayed healthy, there’s no way he’s not the face. He was literally most hyped up since lebron & for good reason too
8:40 the face of the league after jordan was with a doubt allen iverson
AI, Kobe and shaq were the faces of the league post jordan but they were still lookin for thag next one. Definitely was kobe until that rape case than the nba gravitated towards Lebron than we got kd than Steph came out of nowhere
i think it will be giannis n luka
