Much prefer the Cougar 22 MLS. Sadly all new trailers are coming with the 12 volt compressor fridges. Probably a much better fridge than the propane but for camping in Ontario Provincial parks, electric sites are sometimes difficult to get and the non-electric sites are usually pretty heavily treed so all the solar in the world won't put much back into the battery. After about a day (if you're lucky) your battery will be dead and your fridge is nothing more than additional cupboard space. I guess it's back to coolers and ice if you plan to stay for a few days.
We own this in a 2022 model. I love a bumper and the old lighting is better for older people. We removed the curtain (Never was an issue, just didn't use it.) We tow it with a Ram 1500 5.7 hemi up and down the Appalachians and Rockies several times already with no problems if you- slow down, use the trailer pinch break system and empty your water tanks and lines. Still got 11-12 mpg in the mountains.
This is a great unit. We have experienced trailer length limitation parks but this one has always been excepted. A+
Wish RV manufacturers would start adding storage for e-bikes and not just foldables but for Biktrix e-bikes with ramps to load.
Make it so dinette can be removed for free floating table and chairs so those of us with dogs can put them away and use for kennel space; and, not everyone has a small dog.
Yes, completely agree with you on the docking station being moved to the pass through (I still say "tunnel boot" in my head and laugh!) instead of being separate. Thanks for the video Uncle Josh!
Thanks for sharing!
We have the 23LDE in a '23 year. Only thing I would change would be to get the anti lock brakes.
As for the telescoping leg on the table, we like it a lot. While playing cards at the table, my back started hurting, those dinette aren't very comfy. Hubby got an idea to lower the table just an inch or so and it made cards a little more comfortable. We only use the dinette for cards😅 probably more info than anyone wanted but there ya go.😊
I do day trading, and yes I agree completely. Sit at a dinette for a long time and everything starts to hurt, sometimes just a foot pressing against a support will work your nerves all of a sudden. And yes, lowering the table, or the ability to do so, is a big plus! An inch-ish lower makes for a much better typing height.
That's super smart! Thank you for the idea
Hi Josh! My wife and I are new members of the #nerdherd and absolutely adore your videos. We're upgrading from a small bunkhouse with a dinette to a walk around private bedroom with no bunks (no kids) and your videos are invaluable. Keep up the great work!🫡
Welcome aboard!
If my Husband didn't insist on the bedroom, and we didn't have a cat (litter box location needed) I would love this floor plan.
The light bars are a big no deal for us. I like being able to turn the puck lights off and on. Saves energy and gets me ready for sleep.
We just traded our 17MKE for this one. So far, we love everything about it! Wanted to mention ours has a Google TV, not ROKU. Also, since the back bumper has been removed, the spare is under the trailer. Also really like the fact that it has Goodyear Endurance tires instead of Westlakes! Looking forward to breaking it in! Good video, Josh!
Google TV? Really?
Thanks for the very thorough videos. We like all the details and the road mode coverage. One thing we'd like to know on each trailer is what kind of countertop it has. The Imagines have Thermofoil counters, I believe. But, we don't know what that is exactly. We'd also love to see a video explaining and comparing the different kinds of RV countertops.
We own a Forest River Wildwood x-lite 171RBXL. I don't know what kind of countertops it has, but they look like thin vinyl glued onto particle board. The edges of the vinyl is cracking and the surface is lifting. So, we want to make sure our next trailer has better counters. Other than the counter issue, this has been a great trailer with terrific bathroom storage and a "Jiffy Bed" murphy bed, not a bendy bed, also unusually large cargo capacity. We have the 2021 model, which we prefer over the new model in the cabinet layout.
Great travel trailer. Grand Design did great with this one. Love the fact it has a pantry. And room for towels in the bathroom. Great storage and love the counter space. Josh great job of showing this.
TY!
I so love this one! Thanks for sharing this.
Love it and thanks for sharing Josh
This looks perfect for my husband and myself
Thanks for this updated video! We will be picking up ours soon
Enjoy! Hope it treats you well :)
I wish the windows were the full open pop out style but overall it looks awesome
Great layout. "One piece roof membrane" and "wood framed roof", so better be extra vigilant on roof maintenance. Schwintek slides, another worry area. No Azdel. Like the floorplan, not much else though.
Same roof construction as the vast majority all towable RVs really
@@JoshtheRVNerd - so true.
We have a 2021 and love it but with 2 dogs and anymore than 6-7 weeks, I’m glad to get home.
Man 6-7 weeks is a heck of a camping trip!
No, on the dinette. Anything mounted on the floor doesn't enable you to use space as storage (tote box, fans, chairs, ice chest) when traveling. Yes, on the shoe area. May I suggest rheostat capability for ceiling lighting. Great atmosphere light if only they could be dimmed at night.
Need pull out shelves in pantry cabinet! Also need accessory pullout shelves to retro fit into pantry cabinet.
Brinkley does this great. Narrow slide-out shelving is the way to go!
Awesome unit. It’s so easy to nitpick from afar but that said… The table is pretty clunky. If I were regularly using the dinette I’d be appreciating the sturdiness however. Personally, I’d love to see a tri-fold option for dinette and theatre seat. Bathroom location is fine. Really like having a bumper.
wish more companies would install larger TVs, our eyes are not that good
I’m with you. I want an entertainment room, a BIG TV, even if I don’t use it to watch shows but once a week or so.
Perfect except for no bedroom privacy wall AND no wardrobe slide. 🙁
I agree with Erin and 13bellhop
@@mariaperham1851 - True, but a bedroom/closet slide adds weight, which I’m betting would exceed the half ton weight.
Way cheaper and better to put your own TV in there. There’s nothing special about what they use.
We have a 2020 22MLE that we bought pre-COVID and love it. We would love it if someone could stretch this layout out and put a fireplace in there. Great tip about the curtain and slide!
Where would you like to see a fireplace added?
Actually.. if you stretch it a bit, then I think this czcams.com/video/loy8nKOOj_Q/video.html might be the result..
So nice, wish they could have changed to a flat floor slide. I do like when the utility has it's own little hookup cubby
Love it! A few things though. First....swap the dinette for that new desk/table/work area idea that slides. And as most people are right-handed, turn toilets on slight angles so a person can wipe...I would prefer less counter top in a bathroom and more prime pooping position. Love the kitchen though, except if the bathroom and kitchen were switched then the windows would have a better view...but I get the fridge is in the slide...si I dunno....better the way it is U guess. But it's a pretty nice towable rig. Tnx for another honest review sir!
I do my best. TY!
If I were upgrading our couples RV (23 Surveyor RBLE), I would give this one a very long look. Love that it has the seating and the dinette! On this size of a unit, the curtain is less claustrophobic compared to the walled in version. No outdoor kitchen, but with a small fold down table from Wally World set up by the cooker hooker, problem solved.
which RBLE out of curiosity?
202? 252? I'm guessing the 202 since you mentioned also having a dinette
Just purchased a camper for my job (welder) a 2019 GD 2150RB.. was surprised that they have discontinued this model, for me was a perfect layout. Came upon this video because I'm interested in GD campers.
You're not the only one who has been surprised they retired that layout
I own the passport version of this floorplan....the toekick is at a very akward location/angle so it is annoying. I love this floorplan. Went with Passport because it has walls seperating the bedroom.
... this has always been a favorite floorplan for this size, non toy hauler..... was thinking rather have free floating chairs and table instead of dinette, and here is why, not only could you turn table sideways and make one or to person desk/ bar, use table by theatre seats also if wanted, you could move all chairs and table outside too... or take out completely and put whatever yu want there....... basically a blank spot like toy haulers have, that you can set up whatever you want. table chairs, shelves, whatever.
Yep ..this with a breakfast bar
Cougar offers this with table/chairs
If they made that table rotate 90 degrees.. perfection
@@JoshtheRVNerd Model # please. Did you review it?
Door to close to bed, so much dust dirt will land on bed.rest of trailer is very well laid out.
Toe stub is something my wife and I avoid. Also not a fan of the water hook up being turned 90°. Overall though, very nice camper
The Sundance 231 ml is my favorite of this floor plan. The interior is one foot longer. Rack and pinion slideout is deeper with an extra window. There is a place for a garbage can under the sink! Larger pantry, counter space. Two tall windows to stand up for viewing. Larger, lower telescoping T.V. Shelf ledge by window for many uses. Door on bathroom. Larger shower by three inches. Mirrors and smoked glass on closets and storage cupboards, Two toned kitchen cabinets. Taller barreled ceiling. Nice front cap with schmexie LED lights. could go on, but you get my drift.
It's been a couple seasons but I recall that 231ML. Seemed like a solid entry into the floor-plan-family
I like this floor plan!!! Love the lighting of both variations and I think the kitchen corner you mentioned could be fine with just a small undercounter strip light. No big deal. The colors are great being so neutral so anybody could decorate this coach. Personally, I just have misgivings about no more separation between the bedroom and the living room than the curtain. I’m single and would almost always have grandkids traveling with me so that could be a no-go for me. I think the little toe-kick in the kitchen is livable. Unless, of course, someone else thinks it’s a toe-stubber! I look forward to your videos… You rock!
Yeah i'd probably put a little stick on motion light back in that corner
Purchased the 2022 model . We were waiting of the 12V fridge and solar and like the new graphics which haven't changed. We saw this floor plan in 2020 Tampa Florida Super RV Show. But our current TT had the 12V fridge and we could not see ourselves going back to a Dual Fridge. And when we saw the 2022 model which brings the 12V & Solar we were sold. And still looks the same as the 2024 with a few less things like the Life-Saver lighting lol and ABS etc... Great TT just hate the dated TPO roof not like our previous TT that had a PVC roof; a night & day difference. When opening the slide the Swhintek slide sound likes it's ready to give up and the Toe STABING Toe Kick on the slide out sucks lol... Grand Design loves to give you drawers; which are better for storage then cabinets. Far to great of a Floor Plan and the Pro's out-way the Con's!
Never stubbed toes in our 22MLE. Way easier to tow than our old Rockwood.
Good to know!
That is a real nice camper!! Loved everything about it except for two things. The steps and no back bumper. The bathroom, it doesn't bother me at all. Now my wife on the other hand, you could give it to me for half price and she would still say no.
Good news.. we wouldnt waste her time offering one at half price lol :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd 🤣🤣😉👍
My favorite unit!!!! I would replace the steps though.. :)
TY!
I like the intro music, Josh!
TY
Destined to be a classic! #Nerdherd! 🇨🇦
Move the dinette closer to the bed and put the door so it walks right into the kitchen. Nothing I hate worse than the entry door walking right into the bedroom area on these type of front bedroom floor plans.
Like this? czcams.com/video/YE6T-XF0xWQ/video.html
Like this one! Like the kitchen. Like all of the storage. Like it has a couch and a table. Love the door side windows. Like the bed room storage. The bath room is not that good. To samll. Wish it had sold steps. Like the black out Shad’s. Like it have a great day josh!
Maybe give this one a try.. czcams.com/video/loy8nKOOj_Q/video.html
I love your videos.
22 MLE is a really nice floorplan. We prefer (and purchased) the 23LDE. We like the larger, mid coach bathroom, larger recliners, private bedroom, and larger rear kitchen of the LDE. Just wish it had a king bed option :-).
The 23LDE is the best couple coach....We almost bought the 22 MLE until we saw the layout of the 23....sold and love it!
Yeah if you can do just a smidge more length the 23LDE is a monster
Nicely planned couples TT. I like the floor plan a lot, but I do wish you could get a table and chairs instead of dinette as well as a sofa instead of theater seats.
Cougar 22MLS can do both of those!
Thanks Nerd! Black Tank Bidet 😆I prefer the Cougar 22MLS for no toe kick (although I dislike the windshield on that model).
Try this one: No no kick. No windshield: czcams.com/video/X3GWa1lkVxE/video.html
Still waiting for Rockwood/Flagstaff to come out with this floor plan. Not sure how much longer I can wait though.
lol I keep saying the same thing
I own a very similar model with the single dinette leg. It works fine but the table is always a bit wobbly at times. One thing I would like to see in the bedside side pockets is a small light in there. In my experience, they are very dark in there even with the lights on and finding cords or plugging them in the charging ports can be a bit tough.
I do like the idea of a light in those pockets. That's a great idea - it IS dark in those
This has a slide, which normally I don't like, that I could with.
Nice!
Thanks Uncle Josh!
Josh, I had to piggyback off another commenter because it cannot leave a comment otherwise (happens time to time).
Since you were curious about what a couple thinks....
We love the idea EXCEPT 💡
The bedroom HAS to Have a Door...incase one needs to go to sleep or needs their own space.
Also, personally for us, a King mattress.
#petparents
Same for me #RVNerdHerd 🎉 😊 ❤ 🎉
@ITSHProductions can’t drop a comment unless it’s a reply?? Some weird CZcams comment jail?
Good video Josh
TY so much!
These are great, but the half step up at the kitchen is brutal. I can feel my back and toes hurting already! I'd prefer if the slide was flush with the counters and appliances. If that means ditching the Schwintek slide system, all the better IMO, seems a bit large for that design anyway. Also, swap option on the dinette please, these would also make great digital nomad setups with a better table and chair option! Though I will say I didn't see any major issues like electrical, ducting, or a fuse box built into the dinette, so maybe it'd be easy to swap DIY?
I do like how Grand Design has listened and upped the cargo capacities on these Imagine models over the years. I remember seeing some with CCC as low as 700lbs before, 1800 is a great amount for this plan!
I've seen a few imagines still a little light in CCC i think but they have been doing good about targeting models that need a little attention
TV is a poor use of space. Mad credit for ABS, this needs to be standard everywhere.
Agreed
Other than the dinette l love this one! Brown on brown is easy to keep looking clean. Nice size shower. I don't like toe stubber anything. Wosh it had a outdoor kitchen but i can bring my blackstone with me in the back of my truck. I dont like the docking station flat back I'd rather have it face the outside more for ease of reaching rather than a leak possibility. Thanks Josh for the info and tour.
good point on the brown tones
Only bummer is bathroom right by kitchen should be closer to the bedroom
Josh, my friends have the exact same floor design. Me and my wife are thinking about getting one too.
I really like the setup myself
Depends if your consort likes to Cook with a lot of space - only tight to get it all in ! 👍
Consort.. now we're in feudal japan lol
Nice floor plan and bathroom is decent….bigger Tv option and with two French bulldogs we need a king option bed…..hmmmmm cougar has a king and a similar floor plan
yep yep! That cougar is what I would've suggested but you beat me to it
Grand designs great love this camper lights not bad. Space is great. If they could do 6.9 feet high would be the best on the market
I'd be game for it!
I would have to take that mirror down. I need a plain wall on one side of the dinette to hang Art or a logo poster behind me when I CZcams in an RV.
Theater seating is my favorite one. I love the cup holder in the middle. We use that to keep pens and other small things handy.
I’m not sure about the toe kicker. Haven’t had one before. I do like that it’s not at the sink. It might not be as bad at the oven and fridge. 👍🏼
Yeah… I was questioning that mirror myself. Kind of a weird spot for one.
I hope your channel grows and you find fulfillment in your content!
@@JoshtheRVNerd - She DOES have a channel! Thanks! 👍🏽
We live in tge desert at 500 ASL, so when we hook up the 22mle to the Ram 1500, it's a climb. No issues. First pass is 3500, where we like to camp is over 5000.
Man.. awesome intel. TY!
@JoshtheRVNerd Ram has a site you can put your vin in, tells your exact payload and tow specs for your truck with the way it was optioned. Pretty handy when looking at new trucks on dealer lots.
Tv is crooked just like my 2021! Drives me nuts! Come on Grand Design! Wish they would move the water pump and do a moveable table/chairs instead of dinette. Make it easier with a dog. But it’s been a decent model to own.
Little stuff like that is always irksome
Great looking rig! Very interesting! Are the specs correct? Why would the gray tank be bigger than the fresh tank? I am more of a boondocker type. I have a 2024 Minilite 2205s with the mastervolt system. I thought our tanks sizes were very proportionate, but they were not. Anyways....How long until you start educating us the impressive mastervolt system? Why are more RV's builders not gobbling up this concept?
I like a solid wall between living space and bedroom. Dutchman Open Trail 246.
Like this? czcams.com/video/zZGp-EpcJ8w/video.html
@@JoshtheRVNerd Better, but I like the bathroom between the bedroom and the living room. If I or my mate makes noise in the morning or after the other one went to bed you don't bother your mate.
Just a residential table and chairs or sofa “option” for the outdated “Denny’s” diner booth dinette and a decent Hengs or Maxxair bathroom fan from perfection👍👍👍
A dinette offers so much more storage! And that table can be removed and stowed (if you need a kids bed), and a better one put in its place.
@@Erin-Thor awesome if it works for you👍but a table and chairs is so much more versatile if you have company as you can turn the chairs around to face your sofa or theater seating😁also, my back is so tired of a backbreaking dinette that I can’t seem to get away from in my RV but I have never had in my home😂
@@stevez340 - I get it, everyone has their own preferences. 👍🏽 I’ve had an Airstream 23FB, and a class A. Space, all space as I’m sure you know is like gold.
@@Erin-Thor but if I ever tried to take away my wife’s theater seating “option” for the uncomfortable diner booth dinette in my small MiniLite 2205S my 37 year marriage might come to an end😂
@@stevez340 - Been there, done that. In my case I kept the car and lost the wife.
Tv too high. I like the breakfast bar some others are doing. Don’t need table and chairs.

“ToterHome”! Latest “Nerd-ism” from Josh! 🤣
Enjoy :)
Needs a King bed
Which Travel trailer manufacturer do you believe is the best quality builder ? Thanks, like your videos.
I've been trying to get some sort of hard stats on things like warranty rates and all attempts have been met with frustration
But... from what I've personally see and the feedback I see from owners it seems like pound for pound / dollar for dollar the best bang for your buck overall comes from Rockwood/Flagstaff
cougar half ton. king bed nuff said
I like this imagine but that cougar is still one of my personal favorites
Like the design but at 6'3" is there room to showeron my knees? I may have to do a 5th wheel. Which I can't find a trailer with 1 wheel or 5 it's usually 2 4 or 6 so not sure where the 5th one is. J K
If you find a trailer with a 6'9" or taller ceiling, then you'll be ok
At 6'9" ceiling your head will likely still be in the skylight
At 7ft ceiling you'll be good
No, they need to take out the dining area and make kitchen bigger
If they would install a Maxair fan and a separate Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom, problem solved!
A brand called Igo had a familiar floor plan in 2014.
I remember Evergreen but don't recall one quite like this. Do you know a model number?
Any chance you could list interior height not just exterior height? Thanks!
If it's non-standard, then I tend to (or when I remember)
Standard interior height is 6'6". That's what this has.
Sometimes I remember to list that. I will make it a point to list anything taller
Can you swap-tion the dinette for a tri-fold soda?
Not at this time though I like it when MFGs give us swaps for that seat there
Cougar is one of the only ones doing it. They offer a table/chairs currently
But in theory any of that could be removed
Thanks nerd 🍺 🤓
I would love to see the imagine 26bhx especially with the slide closed
Good news - I have footage coming of that model.. with slide closed road mode included. Stay tuned!
@@JoshtheRVNerd that’s awesome thank you 😊
definitely prefer the new lighting....
TY
Is there storage under the dinette seats?
No storage. Wasted space. The seat under the mirror has the pump stuck underneath. Bad engineering.
As I recall there's SOME space down there but it's not fully open
I know the cougar-version of this has full storage below the dinette. See here czcams.com/video/7u3KRG7w_HU/video.html
I have a '20 22MLE, and believe there's a few improvements that could be made...IMO, of course:
* Delete the dinette, move the fridge where the pantry is, put a bar in the remaining dinette space, and a large pantry/closet where the fridge is
* Add like 4 inches' width to the bathroom, or maybe the similar-footprint bathroom layout like the 2800BH
* Murphy option for the bed
* Close the gap in front of the range, it's really awkward with that step-up; shorter slide, deeper cabinetry, whatever.
* Move the water hookup to the rear, because it's pretty much maximized the above-ground run and it tells in the winter
* Put a vent over the bed, because this thing isn't great for airflow
* Lose the black sunlight-absorbing nose cap (I regularly see the front 20 degrees above ambient); even just swapping black for grey would probably help a lot
And maybe a jackknife option for the sofa, for people who would use the sleeper config of the dinette.
This is all.. kinda interesting actually..
Like this one better than Cougar as far as walk around bed, but wish the bed was king size like the Cougar.
I talked to imagine about kings. They've looked at it a few times but just never found a design they liked as it really destroys so much of their storage around the bed
Did I see NO exterior speakers? Way to go. They sure have something against putting a door on that linen storage.
Yep! Forgot to mention that - they're moving away from them
For anyone who owns a GD Imagine trailer, what issues, if any, have you encountered? GD has been subjected to A LOT of bad PR lately and it makes me nervous. However, I've looked at the Imagine trailer I like, and looked about six other brands, and the GD simply oozed quality to me. Help me off the fence! 🙂
I'm like you. Grand Design has been through the ringer as of recent, but I keep coming back to them after looking at others. I wouldn't say that any mass produced travel trailer oozes quality, but I understand where you are coming from as I feel that G.D. does do quite a few things better than many of the others. I was especially disappointed in Jayco. To quote the Jayco sales rep - "All RVs are junk, you just have to decide who you feel builds the best junk". Regardless, I'm convinced that any RV I buy will be inspected by an independent 3rd party before I sign on the dotted line. As they say, you don't know what you don't know.
We have the 22’ model. We love it! Fridge fuse went out and had one leak but was quickly fixed. Awning had a recall so the replaced the whole thing. Nothing major wrong so far. Will upgrade vehicle instead of our chevy 1500. Needs more power to pull up mountain grades. Highly recommend this model.
Not to be a (.>,,?/)but I think the most pertinent question for owners would be: how much trouble have you had with your Schwintek Slide? The question for Grand Design would be; why haven't you switched to a ram type slide mechanism? That is a lot of weight on that Schwintek mechanism.
I'd be curious to hear the feedback on this model. Given its popularity they may not be having a glut of problems. I could be wrong. I lack the data on this really
Xact slide by norco may be another viable option that doesn't require massive re-engineering
Did i miss it...or is there NO exhaust fan in the bathroom??
Yes there is. We have the 22’ model. We love it. Only problem was the fridge fuse popped and the whole thing has to be pulled out to replace. We love the theater seating. The only issue is the heating element in the seats is only concentrated in the middle of the seat area. Only thing that warms up is the butthole! 🥹
It's right above the toilet. Not a great angle for me to capture easily on camera
I like much of this layout, but kitchens need light. Having a "dark spot" where I'm likely to be chopping veggies makes me a little nervous. Having higher lumens over the sofa does what? Do you need to see where you're sitting? Will it help you see the TV screen better? Nope. The focus on where the light should be is not well thought out, IMHO.
12:31 😂😅 there's no yeeting needed in this rv unless you want to I'm not going to stop or force you to yeet or not to yeet
So we're going to have to ignore the scammers cus they're just not going to stop
There's always time to yeet
@@JoshtheRVNerd oh yeah I know my doggo loves to be yeeted
Bathroom is too close to the kitchen! Deal breaker for us. Are all the tanks.....gray, black and fresh.......in the rear?

🎉#NerdHerd
👍🍻
I am little disappointed in seeing that they can't install the ground extensions on the steps to eliminate the spring board affect, the RV in the background has them!
I'm surprised those little drop-legs aren't more popular
Great model but could be so much better without the kitchen toe kick slide...
Try this czcams.com/video/7u3KRG7w_HU/video.html
I'll keep my Apex 211rbs, better kitchen and who likes the toilet next to the stove? Just another cheap copy of our 2022 Apex 211rbs that Josh recommended the greatest couples camper.
That 211 is an under-rated monster
I tried to buy one of these. It was a "shut up and take my money" meme. Cash money and lets go. The salesman just kind of wandered off. Then so did we... So odd.
Their loss I guess?
No, no private door to the bedroom. Otherwise, nice camper
I would love to see this exact layout with a wall for the bedroom. maybe with center opening sliding bar door type of opening. Even if it had a ft to the overall length. I would move the tv down (TV lift who wants to see the tv when not in use?)and make dinette into a bar type facing the campsite. Dinettes are horribly unconformable anyway. They take up so much real state for the amount of time most people actually spend sitting in them.
Private bedroom version of this layout: czcams.com/video/zZGp-EpcJ8w/video.html
Your wife chose well Josh. Your a good man. She certainly could have done worse 😂
You know what.. I'll take it lol :)
I see I commented on the lighting too soon. My apologies
lol no worries!
I'd rather not see the kitchen in the slide.
$43K for a 26’ , 3 person sleeper is insane!
Glanced at our site - that's a model at one of our most northwestern stores. The shipping costs out there are rough sometimes
